Combat was awful even in the day. Leveling up was and still is questionable.
A good story and side quests is what carries the player through the game, however.

Good way to popularise the game.
I imagine it will achieve great tail sales and become new Skyrim, if it hasn't already.

Will pre-order digitally few days before release to pre-load.

@Col_McCafferty I would argue about graphics and sound design, but anyway main parameter here is budget. And it is comparable.

Re combat focus: The Witcher 3. Combat is arguably one of the weakest mechanics. It doesn't sell this game. But plot and side quests do.

What more similarities do you need?

Elden ring. 1st playthrough was quite rough due to russians attacking Kyiv in march. Still got me through that time as the best distraction available. 170 hours for the first playthrough. Started as a strenght build but eventually evolved into strenght/faith hybrid.

After it became calmer in Kyiv, I did another 140 playthrough with focused strenght build and had a blast with it.
Now its time to go back to my 1st character and play 1st tier of NG+. Having fun completing side quests and exploring all the nooks and crannies missed in the first playthrough.
Found out you can actually complete Fia's and Ranni's quests BEFORE reaching Altus plateau, this is quite a discovery.

As with all Fromsoft games, it is hard to put it aside before I have around 1000 hours with it.
Horizon Forbidden West awaits its turn patiently on my digital shelf. Sorry, Guerilla. Wrong timing with the release window)))

@Flaming_Kaiser for me Days Gone is one of the best Sony games.
It has its downsides, but also it has its own identity and spirit.

@Flaming_Kaiser Days Gone had a rough start, but eventually sold around 5 million copies, which is not bad at all. Especially for a new IP.

It is obvious that sequel could be made better and could sold more.

All this live service investing from Sony is set to fail miserably.

If not for the best single player games in the industry I wouldn't bother purchasing PS4 and PS5 in the first place.
And would stick to PC gaming.

But PS4 experience was so good I sold my gaming pc and currently using laptop for my work and PS5 for gaming exclusively.

And now Sony puts 60% of their investments into live service crap.
I feel deep regret with facepalm, similar to when I heard about Fallout 76.
Why even engage your precious resources for this kind of crap?
You can do so much more and better in single player games development...

But no, you cancel Days Gone 2 and instead you waste money on this crap no one bothers playing even for free.

I'm kinda lucky as they were as near as 10 km away from my place.

I try to support my family, friends and our troops.
And also I play Elden ring and a litle bit of Horizon 2.

Games are the best way to get mentally away from all this crap.

At the least, Curse of dead gods seems like something decent, according to the trailer.

I thought Outriders was a great success.
It's budget wasn't high, but it sold not bad at all. I remember, it was in british top 10 forca few weeks.

After UA army has kicked russians off the Kyiv suburbs, I can finally enjoy my pre-ordered Elden Ring.
Alas, Air raid sirens break the immersion..

I wonder what price tag will be.
It's not a new game and was on some cheap giveaways numerous times on PC (but I don't play on PC anymore).

@Dezzy70 Horizon is for the same players who play Witcher games and Souls games and ubisoft games.
And install base is over 100 million.
There is novreal excuse why Horizon is underperforming.

But anyway, it'll sell. No games of such high caliber is planned within next 6 months or so.
So.. Lots of people will get it.
Including myself. I'm still fully into Elden ring. 120 hours in and haven't finished it yet.
Haven't preordered Horizon, as I fully understood I couldn't invest my time in both games simultaneously.

Read insert coins, thought about coins like digital currency in games.

But, now I can get used Switch lite for the same money..

My money is on Elden Ring.
Horizon will be purcased few months later, I believe.
