Re: Sorry, Dragon Age Fans, Don't Expect Another One Anytime Soon

BacklogBrad

@LikelySatan In overall quality it is right in line with every other dragon age game. Metacritic seems to back that up with it being within 4 points of the best and worst scores. I thought it was a solid game and felt it was worth the 45 hour playthrough. To me it felt like the other 3 games.

Re: Poll: $1,000 and No Disc Drive - Is PS6 Dead on Arrival?

BacklogBrad

As things stand now, I will not be getting a ps6. They have a massive hill to climb to make me believe it will be worth the money. Taking away discs was a big step in the wrong direction.

At least with the new xbox I will have access to my huge steam, gog, and epic libraries. I dont know if I will end up getting the next xbox but as things stand now, it is way more appealing to me than a ps6 or handheld ps6.

Re: PS5 Costs Too Much, But These New Xbox Price Increases Are Just Absurd

BacklogBrad

How long until they announce the return to multiplatform? They are about to realize no one is going to spend this much no matter what exclusives they have?

Im starting to doubt how many new users will come to xbox or Playstation for even GTA6 with these prices. We're talking about close to $800 to play a single game. I just dont see casuals doing that.

Re: 'Above $1,000 Is the Floor': Analysts Predict PS6 Price, and It's Not Good

BacklogBrad

Delaying the launch by a year or two is not going to make it a $500 product again. If they want to launch the ps6 in the next 5 years, it will be very close to or over $1000. Its very possible that we never see $500 consoles again.

Its up to the consumer if that is worth it. Like we saw with the ps4, if enough people resist the upgrade it will force Sony to keep supporting ps5. I dont think we will see any games that flat out cannot run on ps5 for the ps6 gen. Its likely the two gens are blended together. The "we believe in generations" era is over.

Re: Valve's New Steam Machine Costs Almost Twice as Much as a PS5

BacklogBrad

The idea of a pc console is appealing to me. I have fallen in love with the multiple device model like xbox's play anywhere. I play on my high end pc in my office and when i want to move to the couch. I pick up where I left off on the Series x, series s or steam deck.

I will probably wait for more info on xbox's iteration or any other similar upcoming devices before coming to a conclusion on which one I will get.

Re: Hermen Hulst Allegedly Said Sony's PC Ports Didn't Make Enough Money

BacklogBrad

Their pc ports were set up to fail. Given the choice between the brand new games that everyone is talking about or the playstation games from 1-2+ years ago, people were obviously going to go with the brand new games. The quality of the ports did not help either.

They could have made their pc strategy work but here we are. Since they admitted the AAA games are not making enough money to justify their budgets, we should be worried about where this is heading.

Re: PS Plus Price Increase Announced by Sony for New Members

BacklogBrad

The classic "due to market conditions." They say this so when gas prices, ram prices, or whatever current headache drops in price they dont have to cut prices in response. Its permanent.

So now on top of the $600+ for a base ps5 newcomers need to spend at least $130 per year for online(before taxes on all this). Its getting really hard to recommend playstation to any newcomers.

Re: Latest PS5 Lawsuit Claims Sony Could 'Double Dip' on Trump's Tariffs

BacklogBrad

Yeah, Sony isn't getting a refund. They would need to prove how much money they lost solely from the tariffs and they would also probably need to cut their prices that were supposedly caused by the tariffs. Passing the loss on to their consumers is an admission that they were not going to lose money over the tariffs.

The whole refund thing is going to be a mess and probably not going to amount to much refunded money to anyone.

Re: Sony Patents AI Assistant That Can Help You Beat Games, or Just Beat Them For You

BacklogBrad

This was already a complaint for me about playstation games. The second you step out of the direct path in the last of us, you get bombarded with the "need a hint dummy?" message. A very annoying thing for a game that makes you scavenge for resources and has collectibles. Seems like you should be encouraged to explore, not ushered to the endpoint. Im not looking forward to AI interrupting to ask if I want its help every time it notices me doing 360s off tables, trying to climb unclimbable areas, or other tomfoolery.

AI could be great for making you better at the games but having it take control of the character isn't going to help you. Personally, I hope it is used for more of a session analysis where it breaks down your play session with statistics that teach you what hurt you or helped you.

Things like
You died while reloading 8 times and reloaded with more than half a clip 12 times. Don't reload as often.

Here is a heat map of where you died last round. Which weapon killed you the most. Etc.

Using spellX instead of spellY would have led to X increase in damage against that boss and here is why.

Re: Embarrassing AI Art Plagues Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launch

BacklogBrad

Couldn't care less if calling cards and marketing material is ai generated. Zero impact on my gaming experience.

It would be a colossal waste of time to have thousands of hand drawn calling cards that people spend 20 seconds choosing then never think about again. Use human talent elsewhere.

Re: Poll: Does the Steam Machine Pose a Threat to PS5?

BacklogBrad

The exciting thing is that it is another streamlined home console-like experience with playstation games on it. I really want one and I have a legit pc tower hooked up to my living room tv already. The form factor should be great for taking to the cabin, hotels, etc.

It won't be an outright threat to playstation but they should be concerned that they might have the only home console without pc like framework.

Maybe the playstation pc app is their solution to this where they can get 100% of theor pc games sales instead of settling for giving 30% to steam, epic, or xbox.
