It was disappointing. Not one thing surprised me and a lot of the games just showed a trailer and told you nothing about what it is. There were games shown that I was already excited about and was going to get anyway, and the new games either looked generic or weren't exciting from the trailers. Spiderman 2 looks good but like I said, I was going to get that anyway. Give me a shock reveal for crying out loud!
@Wheatly I completely forgot about the Monster branding in DS since I last played that on the Director's Cut where it's removed. The ad thing with the shower I also can't remember, even from the original version. But looking it up that definitely is horrid. Now I'm just thinking about the awful ad placements in games, like Energizer in Alan Wake.
I remember playing Saints Row 2 years ago and driving past a billboard in game that was for Lynx (Axe). Ads being on menus is terrible, it being in the actual game world is immersion-breaking.
Woah, I seriously thought they were going to accept. I still think they will in the long run but the Cloud stuff is really interesting. It mustn't be just Sony trying to block the deal if it's the Cloud side of things that made them reject it.
I don't mind more studios using the Decima Engine but I hope it won't be a mandate like EA did with Frostbite. If a studio wants to use it great, if not let them choose what's best for their games.
I love theme park sims but what I want is another game that's similar to Thrillville. You can build coasters and place rides but also walk around the park interacting with guests and playing with the attractions. A more chill take on the genre.
Kena is the only game that I know I'll play. I don't play many FPS games and I've tried Doom multiple times and never clicked with it. It's an awful Premium month for me because of that and I already own Dishonored. I wish Sony will get around to emulating some PS2 games soon.
Only in the US can a company (Sony) that is complaining about one of the biggest publishers in the industry (Activision) being owned by a rival company (Microsoft) can be twisted to them being anti-competitive. Timed exclusives = bad, full-time exclusives = good! That's basically what they're saying. It's as if they don't know what they are talking about and are more interested in getting on the good side of a massive corporation that might be able to fund their campaigns...
@frabbit Same. It would be more impressive if it were a more modern game with higher poly assets and textures. The lighting does look great with the reflections but everything else visually doesn't excite me.
I like Legendary, and I even like the 1990s film in a so-bad-it's-good sort of way, so why not. A bad Street Fighter film isn't going to hurt the games. I guess that also means Sony will be distributing it worldwide.
The last Harry Potter game I enjoyed was the Half-Blood Prince because of the exploration side of Hogwarts, it's about time we're getting a great new game that's basically that times 100.
Spider-Man is a character that fits the open-world style of gameplay so well, Wolverine; not so much, so I'm happy if this is true. I trust Insomniac to create a great story with a great character so they can make it a dating sim for all I care, I'll buy it.
Haha, this was the first game I played with Premium. Loved it on the PS One and I enjoyed still when revisiting it. The camera was a bit funky but I got used to it.
I still don't get how these types of deals can be discussed. If you don't own the company, how can you offer contracts like this? I'm not saying Microsoft is doing anything illegal, it's obviously something that's allowed but I find it bizarre that it can. It seems like an easy way to get the deal through and using Nintendo, a company that doesn't really get many Activision games in the first place to sign the 10-year offer as an example to regulators that "this company approves so pass the deal".
The Callisto Protocol getting 6th is pretty decent for a game that most people are saying it's okay at best, though it will probably have a heavy drop week by week. NFS is a series where you don't know what to expect quality-wise. I haven't picked up an NFS for a while but I played Heat when it was on PS Plus and really enjoyed it, then I completely forgot a new one is releasing. Midnight Suns' most significant problem has been the marketing I think. When they announced it, people thought it was Marvel's XCOM, and then it showed the weird card mechanics, announcing DLC way before launch, then to top it off I thought only the PC version of the game was launching this year, not the current-gen versions too. If they just said it's Marvel blended with Fire Emblem, I'll probably pick it up sooner and not wait for a sale.
It sounds like it's going to become a support studio. If so, what a floundering end for Volition. Saints Row was a blessing and a curse for them in the long run.
Stray is a good indie game, it didn't do anything so amazingly well that it should be nominated for GOTY, same with Horizon for me. The other games I agree with but it's probably between Ragnarok and Elden Ring.
Love the Ninja Storm games and I haven't really followed Naruto since the manga ended so I don't really know much about Boruto. That being said, I'll definitely play this and it might make me get into Boruto so bring it on.
Whenever I read comics with Batman in them, I always imagine Kevin's voice, along with Mark's for the Joker. He was my Batman, no one else came close. I will rewatch some Batman TAS and replay the Arkham games so I can experience his excellent performance again. What a legend.
@stvevan I agree that there are a lot of remakes currently announced and many are unjustified but a remake of the first Witcher game makes a lot of sense. It is very dated and most people got into the series with the third game, so going back to the original as a new fan is a real pain, especially if you don't like playing on PC.
Yes! The first Witcher game is great but very dated. I remember when they announced the PS3 port; The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf - before it was cancelled. I wonder if they want to make it open-world for fans of the third game or keep the open maps like the original and 2. If this is a success, which it probably will be, I need a remake of 2. I love that game.
@Eldritch You know what, you are right. My post came off more aggressive than I would have liked. My complaint about the original article was that it was written in a way that felt like there was evidence pointing towards the assumption that Sony scrapped the dates on purpose, which from the information at the time I would say wasn't sufficient enough to make such a statement. My dislike of that article shouldn't justify my passive aggression and apologies to Liam for that.
@LiamCroft Hang on, there is a difference between writing about what happened and writing an article that specifically says in the title that Sony scrapped it. Reporting that the expiration date is gone is one thing but most of that article was you assuming Sony did it on purpose and only a small line at the end that suggests it could have been a glitch.
If only specific sites that report news contacted Sony for a statement about the missing expiry dates before writing an article assuming stuff, but that's too much work.
I'd love a remake of Code Veronica and a part of me wants them to remake 5 and 6. I want to see if they can make those action games fit into the horror style but if they can't then they shouldn't touch them, and really think they can't.
It seems like most people think it's excellent, I'm in the smaller camp that thinks it's okay. I don't have anything really bad to say about it but I figured out where the story was going after two episodes and the amount of time the anime covers is a bit too much for my liking. The story and characters are great, but the time with them wasn't enough to hit me emotionally compared to other people.
The visuals and the music are definitely the highlights and at the end of the day it's given me the itch to revisit 2077, and from the look of the Steam charts, it's succeeded in bringing people back to the Cyberpunk world which is great because I love it. If CDPR sticks to the quality shown in Edgerunners, then in a few years' time the issues with 2077 will be a distant memory.
So I do recommend people to watch Edgerunners. My biggest issue is I would have liked it to be given time to breathe but as I said, I'm in the minority which makes it okay. I really think that won't affect a lot of people's opinions. It's a great entry for newcomers.
They should just split the franchise into two. Keep one called Saints Row with all the wackness from the later games and spin-off another series called 3rd Street Saints or something to satisfy the older fans. When you've taken a series in multiple directions, you will attract fans that want different things from the IP.
I'm not a big fan of the dubs for LAD games, I still prefer the original voices with subs. Everyone talking with an American accent is really off-putting to me. It's a shame for people who struggle with subtitles however but at least it's just going to be this game from the sounds of it.
I don't mind this. Still odd that they named Like a Dragon 7; Yakuza: Like a Dragon then name the next one Like a Dragon 8. After Yakuza 6 they should have just named the seventh Like a Dragon 7. Like a Dragon... a lot of Like a Dragon in my post. At least we can call it LAD... LAD is about lads doing laddy things
Probably for the best. I have a few things that I didn't like about the game but now that most of the game-breaking bugs are fixed, it's a pretty good action game. They are heavily invested in the Cyberpunk IP and the world is great but with all the bad press surrounding 2077, it's better to move on and start work on a new game in this world. Learn from the mistakes of the past and show people with one big expansion that they can create something great.

Ah, these lawsuits. You hear about them once or twice and then they go nowhere because why would they? I look forward to another article telling me it's gone nowhere next year.
The Stick of Truth was initially meant to be published by THQ, and now years later THQ Nordic is finally publishing a South Park game. I hope it's similar to the last two.
Like others, I dislike cats so that doesn't play into my views of the game. Overall, I think it's good. It's a pretty linear game for the most part with simple objectives and it's a short experience.
And I think that's why it's good. The length allows the game's bare mechanics to last for as long as they are needed, and when they start waning on you, it's over. The world is interesting enough that makes me want to know more about the lore and finish the story, even though the ending leaves a lot of questions left unanswered.
People who say this is a GotY candidate I personally disagree with, but for a good time that you can finish in a day or two, I think it's worth playing. If you don't have access to it for free I think it's a good game to pick up on sale for 50% off.
When they first announced it I didn't get my hopes up because I thought it would be always online. Now they've announced it's F2P, something that EA has never gotten right from their big franchises... I look forward to it becoming the next FIFA World and Need for Speed: World.

The second is I want to know if they are keeping the PS1, PS2 and PSP games behind the subscription so you can't buy any game separately. Also, I hope that a game in the subscription will offer both the PS5 and PS4 versions because that's something that Now does horrendously by only offering the PS4 versions.
From the sound of things, this isn't something for PlayStation exclusivity. It sounds more like it's something that will bring money in from all platforms and I imagine Sony will be allowed to make movies, shows etc. from Bungie IP.
