@LikelySatan I'm going to honestly say that I didn't jump out of my seat for any of it. The Witcher IV was the highlight for me. Astro sweeping kind of killed the mood for me, also.
Marvel Rivals isn't necessarily anything new, but it's unique enough to be engaging. Plus, it's just fun. Concord's biggest setbacks were a PSN requirement and a $40 pricetag. Like, why would anyone pay $40 for a live service game at this point?
I would 100% get behind a remastered DS3. Regarding Bloodborne, I'm guessing Sony owns the car but Fromsoftware still has the keys lol. How have they not cashed in on the remaster that everyone has asked for, but remastered a game that no one asked for?
I know that Shadow of the Erdtree is larger and more in depth than most games, but "Ongoing Games" should be for DLCs. At this point, I think it's fair to have a "Best Live Service Game". That being said, Astro Bot taking the top spot is laughable. I'm hoping for FF7R or Wukong, but I would be more disappointed if AB won over SotE
@get2sammyb people are allowed to review the product however they wish. I don't complain when the word "masterpiece" is haphazardly thrown at subpar games. Personally, I'm just flat out refusing to buy their PC ports because of the restriction. Since I already have a PSN, I'll link it when they're more inclusive. Otherwise, I'll tend to my back catalog and other releases
@get2sammyb I think it's more about how many people worldwide aren't allowed to even play the games. Live service is one thing, but single player games it's just unnecessary. It's kind of remarkable this blog is still so tone deaf about that facet. This is only the bazillionth article on the subject
@twitchtvpat More titles like Elden Ring and Baulders Gate should be the goal, not recycled content. You hit the nail on the head when you said the game looked beautiful already, because it did. If anything, I personally prefer the color palette of the original. The texture update is certainly noticeable, and they did a wonderful job. I just wish more resources were going into new content. Also a $10 upgrade fee may not be applicable once the next gen drops.
@twitchtvpat I know that the hardware will be capable, but they will make gobs of money having the PS6 remain exclusive. That's arguably what held the PS5 back. The vast majority of game releases have been accessible for PS4 consoles. Which is fantastic for consumers, but Sony will be looking to make up ground. If they just have Nixxes tweak the work they did for PC launches and release them as PS6 remasters they'll make loads of dough. I hope I'm wrong, but they haven't given me much confidence to say otherwise the past few years
@Zeke68 there's a PS5 library? I never run out of arguments, but you were declaring facts without any evidence or sources so it seemed pointless. There may be backwards compatibility with the PS6, but with Sony's recent obsession with remakes and remasters I would be surprised if they do. That's smart of you to keep your old game library. I still have all my games dating back to the NES as well. I'm more of a video game fanboy. I don't discriminate. I love my Switch, my PS5, and my PC. I have to admit, though, my 130-150 fps on quality with texture enhancing mods at 4k is pretty awesome...
@Zeke68 I mean, AMD technology only goes so far. I love them, but nvidia is by and far superior. It's not like they tweaked it to be some other worldly product. You're mostly grasping at marketing buzz words
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare the keyboard warrior who just responded to 5 or so people is trying to placate me? lol. Yes, I own all the toys. I've been playing since the NES. I use my PS5 almost daily. Me clearly stating benchmarks and price point is an effort to inform people on the fence about the Pro. Because it's kinda a rip off. Honestly, your tone suggests you would rather be condenseding than talk. If you want to buy tech that will be obsolete within 5 years with no games, be my guest. But you don't come across sounding as smart as you think you do
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare if you want to live in a box, be my guest. Not comparing a console to a pc at this point is folly, since the two are so close. My point is to inform and point out that the price difference between the two in negligible at best with the introduction of the Pro. Not to mention the lack of games to go with this console that will be obsolete in 3-5 years. I'm also unsure of the hassle you speak of. Not being informed makes you look worse, imo
Edit: I was also responding to a guy who's previous comment was regarding "people not understanding technology" or something like that.
@Dragon83 I suppose for a plug n play console it's a decent price. But there's more value and utility from a proper pc. It just depends what you're looking for. Benchmarks have the Pro falling just beneath the RX 6800. That's a four year old card, and not overly impressive for a gaming computer. You could easily drop $300-500 more than the Pro and get a respectable pc. Also, rest assured that Sony is most definitely not selling this at a loss and is cutting corners somewhere
@skydog0806 yeah, the benchmark for the ps5 pro is reportedly falling below the RX 6800... which is 4 years old, half the price, and about 1M miles beneath the 4070 (lmao) comparisons initially made by digital foundry. Personally, in light of that, I believe you would be better off building a computer.
It definitely looks prettier...too bad I'm done with this game. I'm still cool with playing 8 and 16 bit graphics...so a face lift of a game that was already considered gorgeous 7 years ago feels like beating a dead horse. But I'm stoked for all the gamers out there looking forward to replaying this game
@CrashBandicoat yeah, I didn't build my rig to hit the $1000 mark. I built it to hit the 3k mods in skyrim mark. But I did build a wonderfully competent pc for someone at around $1200 after tax with 4TB of storage. The CPU and GPU aren't top of the line, but with all the other components I used they're easily replaceable for future upgrades. That machine easily has more value that the PS5 Pro imo. But, I'm also a bit more technically inclined than the average plug n play gamer. So, if you think that the Pro and whatever PS Plus package you have is worth it - more power to you. I'm genuinely happy for you. My point was more that your Steam library transcends hardware and will be just as good 20 years from now as it is now, regardless of what machine you operate it on.
Edit: also, the PS4 Pro is very much still relevant. Almost all "next gen" games have been dumbed down so that they can be played on the PS4. Which pretty much renders the PS5 gen as obsolete. For the record, I own and love my PS5 but wish I had saved my money. The lack of games and Sony pulling some seriously shady moves made me jump to pc
@LogicStrikesAgain except the PS5 Pro will be irrelevant in 2-3 years. It's only super power is that it plays PS4 games. Unless you're really into Demon's Souls....s PC still has the utility of being a computer, and your Steam account will always be available to you so long as you have a computer. So even if your hardware becomes outdated, you still have access to your full library. $700 +$80 + $30 + tax and then PS Plus minimum of $80.... you can definitely build a PC that's not a potato for a similar price. Just sayin.
Edit: also, the 4070 comparison is laughable. While I love AMD, their tech just isn't on the same page as Nvidia. I have the 4070ti and it dusts my PS5. The PS5 Pro isn't that big an improvement over the PS5
People shouldn't be upset that Sony is attempting to tap into a broader market. That's good capital that can be used for developing more games. People should be upset that Sony ISN'T making new games and is just churning out remasters that no one cares about while simultaneously laying off half of their staff. It really seems as though they've lost their way. Overpriced consoles with no new games and forced PSN for pc just leads me to believe that Sony has no clue what they're doing
@Stickleman be like me and just don't buy them. I'm pretty happy that I bought a PC. After all of Sony's shenanigans, I'm ready to leave them behind. They can revisit the golden days of the PS4 all they want, but I'm ready for some new titles. Price gouging consumers for games they've already played is about all they're good for these days. Plus, if PSN or your internet is down you can't play their single player games. Not worth the money imo
@xxdavidxcx87 I mean, a gaming computer still has the utility of a regular computer. You can do far more with a computer than you ever could with a PS5 Pro. Not to mention, even when you eventually need a new PC you will have your library intact. How many games from the PS5 era are going to be relevant 2 to 3 generations from now? Not to mention the best thing about my PS5 is my PS4 game library?
@GreatAuk you make some valid arguments, and people will go with what works best to suit their needs. I still this the 4070s is an extremely generous comparison. Sounds like someone had a shill pill
Also, my brother keeps his pc hooked up to his TV and has bt peripherals
@GreatAuk that's dreaming big. AMD doesn't have as good of ray tracing and the upscaling isn't as good as nvidia. I have the 4070ti and that makes the PS5 look like it's from the dark ages. If you want a disc drive and stand, you're already sitting at $900ish after tax. Plus, you can't mod games quite the same way or have the utility of a real computer. At the end of the day though, people who aren't as technically inclined will go for the over priced plug n play. That's a personal decision.
Edit: plus you have to pay annually to play online which is minimum of $80. While steam regularly gives away games and has sales and the PS5 Pro has a limited library that actually can push its limits
@GreatAuk you can get a 4060 for $300... it's no 4090, but that's a good card. I just built a computer for under $1200 after tax that will outshine the PS5 Pro for years to come.
This reminds me of Skyrim. Legendary edition...or was that the special edition?... maybe it was the anniversary edition... of course, as good as tlou is, it's no Skyrim
@JohntheRaptor honestly, looking at both steam forums and playstation forums there's one thing in common: complaints. Although, steam complaints regarding Sony has a legitimate stance regarding both access and privacy. There's no reason for a single player game to require you to be online so that they can harvest data for a game you're borrowing. How good do you feel about your purchase when the PSN is down and you can't play the game? What kind of information are they collecting that they'd rather have fewer worldwide sales then not have you part of their ecosystem? Whereas all the complaints I see here are a) people upset that other gamers outside of the ps ecosystem have access to titles they themselves love, and b) they're upset that pc players are largely saying they don't want to follow the same rules.
At the end of the day, the bad reviews are a small portion of the total sales. I'm sure that the more concerning number for Sony is the drop in sales from people like me who outright refused to give them money
Honestly, if the PSN account didn't restrict gamers from playing the game in so many countries/regions this would probably have been a non issue from day one. It's why I'm refusing to give Sony any more dough. I canceled my PS Plus and have exclusively been adding to my Steam account. Between all this uproar and the PS5 Pro cost being so prohibitive, I see Sony in a very different light than I did when I bought my PS5. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS5...but it's still night and day compared to my gaming rig. Plus, you can add mods. Which is fantastic for the likes of Skyrim or avoiding PSN linking lol
This "article" is so salty lol. It's being reviewed. Just because it's not the review you want doesn't mean it's being bombed. Personally, I'm not getting any Sony games on pc because of the PSN requirement, but that's a personal choice. I also hear there are technical issues, so it's not all the PSN
The amount of excitement and goodwill with steam players was totally botched by Sony's PSN requirement. Hard to start over once that sour taste is there. I was generally excited to play playstation games on my fancy new pc, but I've refused to purchase anything Sony related. I just think blocking out so many countries/regions/gamers is wrong, and I am voting with my wallet. Although, after the PS5 Pro pricetag I'm more inclined just to leave Sony in the dust
@Golem25 Nintendo's been around since the 1800's. They aren't strapped for cash. They're more concerned about sending a message. And regardless of how they attained the IP, litigation is how they roll. I saw this coming since the day this game released
This angle would be more believable if the industry hadn't experienced massive layoffs over the past few years. Too bad all that talent that was let go couldn't help facilitate and nurture the next gen of devs. Sony and Microsoft having a monopoly on gaming isn't doing gamers any favors. This just comes off as a spin story to try and pick up slack after some disastrous decision making in the board room
@naruball Toyota vehicles are expensive, but they'll almost always get you 200,000+ miles of those engines. So they're worth the money. I'm saying that the PS5 Pro is not worth the money. That's like buying a Ford Ranger for the price of a Toyota Tundra (radio not included). Also, I don't know if you read the message I was responding to but that message was more for him
@Pranwell if you want to waste your money on a subpar pc when you could throw in a little more and have a respectable starter pc, go for it. Joking about people strapped for cash and rightfully laughing at Sony's folly is kinda pond scum, tho.
PS5 Pro: $700 + tax
PS5 Pro Disk Drive: $80 + tax
Base PSN: $80/year + tax
Telling Sony to F**k Off: priceless
If they had the game catalog that the PS4 had it would at least their greed would make sense. My favorite PS5 games are mostly PS4 games though. Go back to the drawing board, Sony. You're dropping the ball
@ZeroSum the fact that Sony had a good hard look at this studio and game and still bought them isn't a good look either. I'm not sure anyone could say Sony isn't responsible for this debacle in any capacity. They also pushed for the $40 price point when there was clearly little to no interest in the game. All of these decisions scream out of touch board members in charge of something beyond their understanding
This wouldn't suprise me at all. It's also a good example of to industry titans who have a monopoly on gaming having a pissing match. No one wins in this scenario, unfortunately

Too bad all that talent that was let go couldn't help facilitate and nurture the next gen of devs. Sony and Microsoft having a monopoly on gaming isn't doing gamers any favors. This just comes off as a spin story to try and pick up slack after some disastrous decision making in the board room
Re: Feature: PS5 Pro's Been Clowned on By the Entire Internet, and the Memes Will Make You Laugh
Also, I don't know if you read the message I was responding to but that message was more for him
Re: Feature: PS5 Pro's Been Clowned on By the Entire Internet, and the Memes Will Make You Laugh
@Pranwell if you want to waste your money on a subpar pc when you could throw in a little more and have a respectable starter pc, go for it. Joking about people strapped for cash and rightfully laughing at Sony's folly is kinda pond scum, tho.
Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?
PS5 Pro: $700 + tax
PS5 Pro Disk Drive: $80 + tax
Base PSN: $80/year + tax
Telling Sony to F**k Off: priceless
If they had the game catalog that the PS4 had it would at least their greed would make sense. My favorite PS5 games are mostly PS4 games though. Go back to the drawing board, Sony. You're dropping the ball
Re: How to Pre-Order PS5 Pro
This launch is laughable. What is sony doing lol smh
Re: Reaction: PlayStation Needs to Take a Long, Hard Look at Itself
@ZeroSum the fact that Sony had a good hard look at this studio and game and still bought them isn't a good look either. I'm not sure anyone could say Sony isn't responsible for this debacle in any capacity. They also pushed for the $40 price point when there was clearly little to no interest in the game. All of these decisions scream out of touch board members in charge of something beyond their understanding
Re: Dramatic Conflicts as Sony Accused of Signing Secret PS5 Exclusivity with Black Myth: Wukong
This wouldn't suprise me at all. It's also a good example of to industry titans who have a monopoly on gaming having a pissing match. No one wins in this scenario, unfortunately
