Re: Sony Steps Up PS5 Shipments in an Effort to Avoid Shortages Amid US Tariff Uncertainty

8bitOG

@HonestHick where are said jobs? The jobs report is cratering, foreign countries are cashing out bonds, billionaires are actively cashing out their shares, and these tariffs will not only make products more expensive - but will directly affect a wide range of industries. Agriculture and automotive will be hit especially hard. That's not even including all the federal employees losing their jobs. Actively. As we speak. Open your eyes

Re: PC Users Furious Over Lost Soul Aside Being Blocked from Sale in 130 Countries

8bitOG

I love how indignant everyone is here about the subject. If any of you were prevented from playing any of these games you would all throw the biggest hissy fit. Anyway, at the very least they have ditched the PSN requirement (for now). Which is a step in the right direction. Same with day and date release. So they aren't totally dropping the ball this time

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Enjoying a 'Fantastic' Launch on Steam

8bitOG

@RagnarLothbrok it was $48 on Steam with a preorder discount. Not sure where you're getting any of your information from...but it seems like you're pulling stuff out of thin air. There haven't been any sales numbers released (even from PS5 sales), so you're obviously making up numbers. Also, piracy is undoubtedly happening, but if it were as rampant as you (or a lot of other people on this site) seem to believe then there would be some media coverage on the matter.

Edit: also, great name

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Enjoying a 'Fantastic' Launch on Steam

8bitOG

I waited for the Steam release, so I added to their coffers. I've actually been so displeased with how Sony has been running playstation that I've only purchased ER and Shadow of the Erdtree from the PlayStation store since 2022. I haven't had a chance to play Rebirth yet. I've almost completed the og game on my switch

Re: Spider-Man 2's Looking Like Another PC Own Goal from Sony

8bitOG

It just flabbergasts me that Sony put in so much time cultivating a rhythm and relationship with PC players only to demolish that relationship in less than a year. Mandatory PSN accounts that shut out gamers that would otherwise have access to the Steam and Epic store, and now a really poorly optimized port. From what I've read, it doesn't sound like an easy fix either. Why they wouldn't just delay the release until they got it right is beyond me. For a company that keeps saying they need additional revenue to continue making stellar games, they sure have a funny way of trying to expand their business model.

Re: Xbox Boss Wants to Beat PS6 on Hardware Capabilities, Not Necessarily Games

8bitOG

The biggest thing holding people back is the game library at this point. Most of my friends own a xbox, but it really doesn't matter, because all of the free to play games are cross platform now. Which, coincidentally, are also the games that the vast majority of gamers spend most of their time playing. At this point, Microsoft is the biggest gaming publisher in the biz. They obviously want to create hardware that sells, but it isn't necessary for their gaming division to rake in dough. My two cents is they're actually in a good position to strike now with all of Sony's mistakes during this generation. So, hopefully they right the ship

Re: Poll: Will the Switch 2 Compete with PS5?

8bitOG

Different demographics. It's true that the PS5 is a superior machine that caters to the more dedicated gamers. With bigger and better graphics and is unquestionably more powerful...Clearly, Sony is the champ when you take this gamer demographic into account and raw technological power but, at the same time, Nintendo has IP that is loved world wide that dusts everyone. Take Mario Kart 8, for example. That game (which was a Wii U port with a paid expansion) sold almost 63 million copies alone. For perspective, that's the same number you get when you tally total sales of God of War 2018, God of War Ragnarök, Ghost of Tsushima, and Hell Divers 2...mind you, that includes PC sales numbers lol

Re: You'd Better Believe The Last of Us 2 Demands a PSN Account on PC

8bitOG

@Boucho11 you're missing the bigger picture. There are so many people who aren't even permitted to create a PSN because, unlike those other publishers who require accounts, Sony lacks adequate services. Also, PC setups are more elaborate than consoles. So the likelihood of consoles being in basements is statistically more probable. I have both because games are awesome

Re: You'd Better Believe The Last of Us 2 Demands a PSN Account on PC

8bitOG

@LogicStrikesAgain I obviously have a PSN account, and could link my account. However, I have refused to purchase any sony titles that require a PSN on PC. The reason? To stand in solidarity with gamers around the world who want to play these games, but can't due to the PSN restrictions. Sony must be making more money off of the data than it is losing by imposing a exclusive login. So I don't see what all the hullabaloo is about. If it's worth it to them, then everyone's getting worked up about nothing

Re: PS5 Pro Bettered as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Reveals PC Specs, Features

8bitOG

@TruthClaire1 I mean, they used the cost of the new cutting edge card as an example as a price point for comparison. A bit disingenuous on pushsquare's part. I spent roughly $1800 on my rig, and it's easy to upgrade should I need. But as it is right now, I fully expect it to be more powerful than the eventual ps6 aka I'll have it a long time

Re: PS5 Pro Bettered as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Reveals PC Specs, Features

8bitOG

@Ultimapunch I used to be with you, but any significant dip a in fps from 120 is quite jarring. Depending on the game, I tend to cap at 60 or 120fps anyway. Heck, I even capped Ghost of Tsushima at 60 but it's still running 120fps on average because PC gaming lol. That being said, no shame in buttery smooth 60fps whether it be console or pc

Re: Nov 2024 USA Sales: PS2's Sales Toppled by Switch As College Football 25 Becomes the Best-Selling Sports Game Ever

8bitOG

@twitchy_emu92 part of the appeal was the disc drive. Families that weren't regularly gaming bought the PS2 because it was dual purpose. Heck, I even got a PS4 because the slim was only $50 more than a DVD player which was what I was mainly after at the time. Now with pc gaming becoming more popular and consoles being both expensive and pretty much exclusive to gaming (since everyone streams content now), Sony may never see the same numbers again. Even Microsoft is aiming to be exclusively a publisher and having the Xbox be able to stream from any device. Ultimately, I think Microsoft is right and hardware will eventually become obsolete. But that's a ways off I imagine. In the meantime, I think they're fine raking in game sales

Re: All The Game Awards 2024 Nominees Revealed, Astro Bot Up for 7 Awards

8bitOG

I know that Shadow of the Erdtree is larger and more in depth than most games, but "Ongoing Games" should be for DLCs. At this point, I think it's fair to have a "Best Live Service Game". That being said, Astro Bot taking the top spot is laughable. I'm hoping for FF7R or Wukong, but I would be more disappointed if AB won over SotE

Re: Sony Boss Says It's 'Learned a Lot' from PC Player Pushback

8bitOG

@get2sammyb people are allowed to review the product however they wish. I don't complain when the word "masterpiece" is haphazardly thrown at subpar games. Personally, I'm just flat out refusing to buy their PC ports because of the restriction. Since I already have a PSN, I'll link it when they're more inclusive. Otherwise, I'll tend to my back catalog and other releases

Re: Sony Boss Says It's 'Learned a Lot' from PC Player Pushback

8bitOG

@get2sammyb I think it's more about how many people worldwide aren't allowed to even play the games. Live service is one thing, but single player games it's just unnecessary. It's kind of remarkable this blog is still so tone deaf about that facet. This is only the bazillionth article on the subject

Re: 'Mind Boggling' Horizon Forbidden West Has the Best Console Image Quality Ever on PS5 Pro

8bitOG

@twitchtvpat More titles like Elden Ring and Baulders Gate should be the goal, not recycled content. You hit the nail on the head when you said the game looked beautiful already, because it did. If anything, I personally prefer the color palette of the original. The texture update is certainly noticeable, and they did a wonderful job. I just wish more resources were going into new content. Also a $10 upgrade fee may not be applicable once the next gen drops.

Re: 'Mind Boggling' Horizon Forbidden West Has the Best Console Image Quality Ever on PS5 Pro

8bitOG

@twitchtvpat I know that the hardware will be capable, but they will make gobs of money having the PS6 remain exclusive. That's arguably what held the PS5 back. The vast majority of game releases have been accessible for PS4 consoles. Which is fantastic for consumers, but Sony will be looking to make up ground. If they just have Nixxes tweak the work they did for PC launches and release them as PS6 remasters they'll make loads of dough. I hope I'm wrong, but they haven't given me much confidence to say otherwise the past few years

Re: 'Mind Boggling' Horizon Forbidden West Has the Best Console Image Quality Ever on PS5 Pro

8bitOG

@Zeke68 there's a PS5 library? I never run out of arguments, but you were declaring facts without any evidence or sources so it seemed pointless. There may be backwards compatibility with the PS6, but with Sony's recent obsession with remakes and remasters I would be surprised if they do. That's smart of you to keep your old game library. I still have all my games dating back to the NES as well. I'm more of a video game fanboy. I don't discriminate. I love my Switch, my PS5, and my PC. I have to admit, though, my 130-150 fps on quality with texture enhancing mods at 4k is pretty awesome...

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

8bitOG

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare the keyboard warrior who just responded to 5 or so people is trying to placate me? lol. Yes, I own all the toys. I've been playing since the NES. I use my PS5 almost daily. Me clearly stating benchmarks and price point is an effort to inform people on the fence about the Pro. Because it's kinda a rip off. Honestly, your tone suggests you would rather be condenseding than talk. If you want to buy tech that will be obsolete within 5 years with no games, be my guest. But you don't come across sounding as smart as you think you do

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

8bitOG

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare if you want to live in a box, be my guest. Not comparing a console to a pc at this point is folly, since the two are so close. My point is to inform and point out that the price difference between the two in negligible at best with the introduction of the Pro. Not to mention the lack of games to go with this console that will be obsolete in 3-5 years. I'm also unsure of the hassle you speak of. Not being informed makes you look worse, imo

Edit: I was also responding to a guy who's previous comment was regarding "people not understanding technology" or something like that.

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

8bitOG

@Dragon83 I suppose for a plug n play console it's a decent price. But there's more value and utility from a proper pc. It just depends what you're looking for. Benchmarks have the Pro falling just beneath the RX 6800. That's a four year old card, and not overly impressive for a gaming computer. You could easily drop $300-500 more than the Pro and get a respectable pc. Also, rest assured that Sony is most definitely not selling this at a loss and is cutting corners somewhere
