Here at Push Square Towers, we've been wanting a Harry Potter game on PS4 for quite some time. And with a new developer named Portkey Games, opened by Warner Bros, that dream may be about to become a reality.
The new developer is set to create new mobile and console games based in the Potter universe, with familiar characters making appearances "at different points in their lives" from the wizarding world. The press release also mentions new locations and story elements will be explored through the games.
Speaking of which, the first game under the label is titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a mobile game that puts a magical spin on the Pokemon Go concept.

I'm surprised TellTale hasn't done one yet.
That said a HP RPG could be amazing if done right.

Personally I'm not interested in a Potter universe game. The world itself is quite good, but the plot... maybe I'm just too old.
It just needs to be Persona but the school is Hogwarts. THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO DO, PEOPLE.
A Harry Potter RPG handled correctly could be really, really good. There are so many possibilities. Honestly, I'm surprised one hasn't been done already. It's too perfect.

Wait, all I know from the press release is that Portkey games will oversee HP games, not necessarily develop them? So for the mobile game, Portkey are overseeing it and Niantic are developing it? My GOD. What if this next console game they’re mentioning is being developed by Rocksteady!?
as long as none of them adapt The Cursed Child because that was a terrible story
it changed so much of the lore established by the original books it was almost like a reboot
guess that's what happens when two fans write a harry potter story and not JK, it's basically a fan fiction
still a story set during the time skip when Harry was an Auror could make a good game OR imagine a RPG where you actually play as Albus Potter in his first year but you know WITH A DECENT STORY THIS TIME, you could even make 7 games out of it each covering a year at Hogwarts
The Harry Potter universe has a lot of potential for a series of games. I don’t think it really needs to center on Hogwarts or a school at all. Looking at Shadow of Mordor/War or the Fantastic Beasts movies as examples, I think they could set a game in a different part or era of that world, and have more room to breathe regarding story and gameplay options. I imagine it will be inspired by the Arkham games. I was thinking the other day that the rumored console RPG might be what Rocksteady is working on.
