PlayStation 2 PS2 PS4 PlayStation Emulation

That didn't take long, did it? After yesterday's reports, Sony has told Wired that PlayStation 2 games are coming to the PlayStation 4 via emulation. However, while the firm confirmed the feature, it stopped short of sharing any specific details. "We have nothing further to comment at this point in time." See you at PlayStation Experience, then?

Rumours regarding PS2 Classics being added to the new-gen system's PlayStation Store have been rife for a while, with PEGI ratings and unnamed sources all saying the same thing. But tech site Digital Foundry got to the bottom of matters earlier this week by studying a trio of Star Wars titles made available as part of the PS4's swish Darth Vader bundle – all of which employ emulation.

The exciting thing is that it seems like the platform holder has not only figured out a way of improving the presentation and performance of the titles, but also managed to incorporate Trophy compatibility. With the feature seemingly already embedded into every PS4, it's just a case of Sony rolling out the games now. We're sure that we'll learn more soon.
