Resident Evil: Revelations 2 PS4 PlayStation 4 Reviews

With so many games adopting different pricing models and release structures these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to figure out a review strategy that makes sense. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 really takes the biscuit, though, launching on a disc in March – but also as part of four weekly episodes on the PlayStation Store from today. Some outlets have decided to report on those instalments individually, and you can peruse their thoughts below. How are we handling it? Honestly, we're still not sure – but stay tuned for something later this week.

Destructoid - 9/10

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 feels like a budgeted release at times visually, but given the interesting environments and insanely detailed Raid Mode, that's okay. Either mode is worth the $5 entry fee alone, and I will be playing this for weeks to come both alone and with a partner.

God Is a Geek - 8.5/10

With the recent success of Resident Evil HD, and now Revelations 2 starting so well, it seems Capcom finally have Resi back on the right track. Despite a few concerns, Revelations 2: Episode One is a triumph. Exciting, daft, and containing a few genuine jump scares. What more could you ask for from Resident Evil?

GameSpot - 7/10

Though you have to wade through mediocre puzzles and endure cringe-worthy dialogue and references to past games, episode one successfully entices you to look forward to the next episode. Just before you feel like its antics are wearing you down, it commands your attention by redeeming itself during the second half, just before sealing the deal with an impactful cliffhanger. With tastes of both classic and modern Resident Evil, Revelations 2 has something for everyone, but it would be served better if it was a little more focused and had a little less Moira.

IGN - 7/10

Revelations 2: Episode 1 is let down by dull environments and creature design, but a terrific co-op mode, intriguing story, and replayable Raid Mode balances out its flaws. Not quite a headshot, then; but it's left a bloody impression on me nonetheless.

The reviews are out, then, but have they convinced you to give Resident Evil: Revelations 2 a go? Mix some herbs in the comments section below.
