Some things never change. Jerry Lambert, the actor previously employed by PlayStation to play Kevin Butler, may have been taken to court over the character, but he’s still portraying dim-witted office workers on North American TV. This brand new Wendy’s spot shows the performer staple his tie – while he ogles a fictional colleague’s Pretzel Pub Chicken Sandwich.
Reinforcing the notion that the United States has all of the best food, we had no idea what a pretzel bun was prior to watching this. A quick Google reveals that the delicacy boasts “the soft, chewy texture and slightly salty characteristic” of the snack that it’s inspired by. It’s a shame that this author's local Wendy’s is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

As for pretzel buns they seem to be popping up at different fast food places left and right in the US. I have never actually tried one.
@Splat Yeah, I just read that they've become a bit of a craze in the States. I'm hoping that means that we'll follow suit soon, because that thing looks delicious.
@get2sammyb I'm not much for pretzels myself, but I do know that many places at and around UCF serve pretzel-somethings. Pretzel buns, pretzels filled with vanilla yogurt, pizzas made using pretzels as the bread. These things sell like crazy. Soon Wendy's may be serving the frosties in cups made of pretzel.

Pretzels really? I rather eat bratwurst ! Sorry but Americans and britians tend to eat things like blood sausage or bacon in the morning as breakfast.. Went to england a couple of weeks ago... English breakfast never agian...

Had one of these a week or so ago, pretty good. TGIF started selling breadsticks w/ cheese dips about a year ago that are more pretzel than breadstick. Unless they were calling them pretzels but they were more like breadsticks? Either way the cheese dips were really good.
Oh, and I don think he was banned from playing idiots in commercials, just banned from playing idiots in commercials playing videogames.
Edit: I didn't eat a chicken sandwich on a bun, it was a bacon burger. I really need to watch the videos before I post. Chicken sandwich, pshaw
Dang it, I completely skimmed through in excitement and thought there was a new Kevin Butler commercial. Then I watched the video and my heart was crushed, it was a just a Wendy's commercial, I then saw that the article stated that was everywhere.
@get2sammyb My local grocery store has them, and they are delicious. Buns so firm you could bounce a quarter (or 50p coin) off them, you know, if you wanted to.
Yeah I had that pretzel bun burger thing at Wendy's once, other than presentation it doesn't add much. Inbet now that PS4 is gaining popularity Jerry Lambert wishes he'd been a bit more careful. Idiot.
@3Above: They ended the Kevin Butler campaign BEFORE he got in trouble for that other ad...I don't think they'd have been looking to bring him back one way or another anyway.
Not terribly interested in pretzel buns myself, but Auntie Anne's pretzel hot dog is awesome. Those have been around for YEARS now, so it's just kind of surprising it's taken this long for everybody else to catch up.
@get2sammyb You don't have pretzel buns in Europe? I'll eat one for you the next time I go to Wendy's.
