Topic: Push Square versus Nintendolife

So I frequent both Nintendolife and Push Square, primarily as a lurker, and I can't help but notice the large discrepancy in the traffic. Nintendolife seems to attract way more comments, both to the articles/features and also on the forums, than Push Square does. What do you think are the reasons for this? Has Nintendolife been around for a lot longer? Or are Nintendo fans just more interested in talking with fellow fans than Playstation fans are? I have noticed that there seem to be way more Nintendo fansites out there than Playstation ones. I, personally, love all my Nintendo systems and Playstation systems.

Cross-posting on Nintendolife for responses there.

I frequent both as well on a daily basis and this is something that I definitely picked up on as well. I asked a similar question in a thread on PS way back when and was told that, for one thing, the user base on PS is no where near the size as the one on NL.

But in general, I also find that users at NL are just more vocal. It seems that there are many gamers over there who just play and support Nintendo, and as soon as anything is said that goes against the grain they like to talk (rant?) about it. I love both sites for their reviews and news stories, but I prefer the user base over here at PS. People just seem much more relaxed at PS and less rude to be honest. Users don't tend to jump on you here the way they do at NL.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

I commented in NL, but normally I check that site several times a day while PS and PX may be checked once a day. Sometimes I even skip them on weekends, but that is mostly because of the news and subject matter.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I comment and spend more time in general at Nintendolife since I usually like Nintendo games more but I check out this site (pretty much just read the articles) at least once a day during the normal work week. I have a PS3 but I have been moving away ($$$ wise) from the Playstation brand though it's still interesting to see what is going on in the world of Playstation. Frankly, I wouldn't know this site existed if it wasn't for Nintendolife; "PushSquare" seems like an odd name for a site dedicated to the Playstation in my opinion whereas their is no doubt what Nintendolife is all about.

This is why I rarely visit NL anymore. If you are a Nintendo fanboy they welcome you with open arms but God forbid you enjoy games from all of the big 3.

The site as a whole is great but the community drove me away.

It doesn't bother me too much when are people are like that, but I've actually been basically called out for just this. Multiple times by the same annoying person no less.

Never owned a Nintendo console, my cousin had a SNES but I really didn't enjoy it, brother had a gameboy advance, I loved pokemon but that's about it. I may own one in the future, maybe when I'm done with vita and Sony gives up on handhelds. I think there's a clear difference between the majority of PS4 & XB1 gamers and Nintendo gamers, what that is I don't really care but it might be somewhat interesting to hear some absurd theories?

Sad thing is I have seen people go after you on NL @Splat just because of your Avatar Pic, which is really sad.

It really is sad. I have owned pretty much every Nintendo console at one time or another but because I have a Avatar of The Last of Us that makes me a PS fanboy. I'm a gamer... I like good games. I don't care what brand it is.

I would say the reason is because PlayStation fans tend to play games more than comment. Nintendo enjoy expressing more comments than playing.

Honest opinion is that Nintendo has more well known games and those games are attached to more than one person playing. There games are centered around playing with another person mainly.

Nintendo Life is an absolute monster, and the biggest Nintendo website in the world. Push Square is growing steadily, but simply isn't at the level of Nintendo Life yet. It sets us a great target at Push Square, because we want to nurture a similar sort of community for PlayStation fans. It takes time, but we'll get there.

It seems like Push Square has grown quite well over the last two years or so...........even Pure Xbox, despite being much smaller than both in community, seems to have grown.

When it was Move and Kinect only focused websites, it was bit too niche for it's own good, so I'm glad they ditched that format and become fully supportive of the respective consoles.

The best thing overall IMO about all three of these sites is the layput, which is very clean and intuitive.

As far as the main topic at hand, NL does have a robust community, but I do agree that Push Square is a bit more of a chill and relaxed enviorment.

I think its just the case that Nintendo Life is the biggest Nintendo website while PushSquare has to compete with many other sites that cover Playstation

That's it really. There's not many quality Nintendo-specific websites out there but credit to the staff at NL, they put the work in and created a monster. PushSquare is the best PlayStation website, imo, but there's also several others that are very good. Dualshockers I see get credited from time to time here and I do think that website is quicker and better than anyother with the breaking news. It's the other areas that put is behind this website though.

Thanks for the kind words @Gamer83. Without sounding big headed, we're all pretty confident that Push Square is the best PlayStation site, but that doesn't mean that we're oblivious to the shortcomings or strengths elsewhere. Ultimately, we just have to keep putting the work in and trying harder, and that's exactly what we'll continue to do as long as we're able to.
