@DonJorginho it's all about cost effectiveness and time, if we are to see a substantial increase in power for cost, then at sub £600 we're looking at at least a 2030 release if not later. Unless Sony decide to take a massive hit on the consoles themselves... To the extent that's necessary it's simply a case of cost effectiveness

@Lofty1985 what are you expecting from a PlayStation source new article website? The Pro is the flagship console now, I would be surprised if we didn't get more articles showcasing the differences, it's the entire point!

@TheTony316 I fully agree, I think the PS6 will realistically be 28/29 and wouldn't even surprise me if it was 30. There have been some vast halts this generation, Covid, chip shortages, slow game development and those delays will only delay the future also

@tclarke90 From what I've seen so far on the tech inside from the Digital Foundry reviewing it's going to be well worth it. I wouldn't get too tied up over the CPU. It's good you mentioned GTA6 because I think that is very likely going to be the game that showcases the Pro model, let's see what happens

Doesn't matter how powerful the machine is, down to game optimization, I played through on the series X with pretty much no problem until the end game, the whole world was about 20fps. I will wait for the DLC before buying the PS version!

The main story is a bit boring, but the game world itself is amazing, deserved

Waiting for the PS6 I think may come as a huge shock for some people, looking like it may be digital only at this rate

I'll buy this game at any price, if anything it is attempting to revive a much loved game style which was unduly killed off by misconception

Well, when people realise the PS6 will cost the same if not more and won't release until 2028/29, with PS5 Pro additionally likely being the last disc possible console, there may be a change of thought on it!

@BNAG_Gamer if it releases as early as 2027 and spec wise be significant enough to be better than the PS5 pro then it will undoubtedly be around £1000 if not more

People all seemingly want to have their cake and eat it, better specs, lower price AND as early as 2027??

I honestly think it will be 2029 and target a £600 price point, that will give enough time to allow a large enough distance and tech performance for £ specs to become economically viable

Don't worry! I won't be spending MORE money to buy a plug in peripheral that should come as standard as a complete packing for what is the "Pro" version

It's impressive how salty owners of hardware are for upgraded versions... Waiting for those who buy a Pro to complain about the PS6 and on and on and on...

@Cloud39472 for me it's not 5%, lots of the scenes are overly cliche and cheesy, plus the very main part of the game for me is a completely different game, that being the battle system

I'll hold out for the real remake that's true to the original in the most core aspects of the game, especially the battle system

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it's almost like there's an agenda against quality turn based dark RPGs, there is a huge gap in the market left by the PS2 era

@zebric21 pro will definitely see the light, at this stage it will be too far into dev and also part of Sony's strategy

Game devs had no problem in the 80s 90s or 00s and personally I loved those games more. You could argue that games are a lot more complex these days, but to cover for that we have engines and far bigger teams to cover the shortfalls

So what went wrong?

@Steel76 we'll see on the turn based, I hope so too, but Square have track record of going off course with their core game aspects with FF...

Hardly a surprise with bangers like DD2

No surprises here, DD2 stays true to itself and gives fans more of what they want, Capcom know how to treat their loyal fans

Destroyed the core fan base with the jarring combat change in these new FF games... Now just a flash in the pan and mixing with the rest of generic norm, nothing special anymore

I hope any unnecessary bad choices by Sony/the dev make from the release of this do not throw off what should be success for this game

@Cloud39472 it's akin to saying if you button mash in DMC you'll just end up dead, it's the sentiment that matters and the core aspect of the game that's been ripped out...

@KHLOEM actually the older fans have nothing now, Rebirth is also this same generic action crap, FF was always a great series for me due to how it was diverse from all the rest, now it's caught the generic disease of conformity

What do older fans have? Cartoon nonsense, low budget spin off games that are the only ones left that hold true to actual strategic combat over button bashing

Because when I was young I didn't care for Final Fantasy? What a stupid statement from them... They've just turned FF into a generic action RPG with the drastic combat style change, just the same as all the other junk for me now

Always holding out for the pro versions now, makes so much more sense a few years into games starting to come out for the current platform that I want to play

The hate that this game is getting for the microtransactions when many many other games do the exact same thing is incredible... I've completed a first playthrough and playing again, you don't need to buy the items, they are optional! You get them by playing the game anyway!

The gap between ps4 and pro was shorter than pro to ps5, if history stands true you're best off getting the pro version each time if you have to choose for MANY reasons, but consumers should buy as they please

It's the same every time a new piece of tech comes out, those owning the previous latest start barking

Tech advances and we get a more powerful system, it's been 4 years already, at least consoles keep it less than PC!

I'm kind of stunned how the consumer is still supporting such an outdated archaic piece of tech...!
