Re: Helldivers 2 PSN Requirement Backtracked on PC After Brutal Review Bombing Campaign

manonfire

It’s so wierd how companies decide to manage this. Instead of saying ‘We hear your feedback, we will have discussions in the upcoming few days’ they just double down and then backtrack.

They even forced valve’s hand to delist the game themselves from countries where you can’t make a PSN without a playstation conole. I’m not sure Sony even realized that they themselves removed the game from sale in their home nation of Japan.

Re: Microsoft Bigwig Implies PS5 Is Losing Marketshare to Xbox

These comments were enjoyable to read, seeing people take a neutral stance vs the typical pro Sony. For me this isn't surprising, not withstanding the availability argument (I've been able to get multiple ps5s here for friends and family in the US with nothing more than Twitter alerts) the Xbox vision for this cycle is more complete. Their goal of play your games wherever you want is much more cohesive and we'll executed compared to Sony's 'next generation vision'.

Right now one can buy game pass ultimate for ~$60 and have a monumental library of games, available on their previous gen, next gen, pc, and mobile via the cloud. Don't have a 4k tv or don't see the advantage of the higher resolution/spec? Save your money and get a full featured home device. They haven't had a monumental pivot like the online requirement from the Xbox one launch.

Meanwhile with Sony we've had maybe 5-6 ps5 only titles after being told that there's a reason for generations. Studios internally working to push patches out because the save system is so different and non-transferable between ps4 and ps5 versions, despite containing essentially the same information. Already had the backtrack on the free upgrade of ps4 titles to next gen, with the hiding of the ps4 version of forbidden west from consumers on the ps5 version of the store so consumers will spend an extra $10 for no reason other than greed and revenue numbers. Right now we're looking at a major overhaul of ps plus and ps now and they're shutting down ways for their loyalest fans to get on board with a discounted price while trickle feeding need to know information so we can make wise consumer decisions for our situation.

Re: Technical Issues Restrict Biomutant to Just 1080p, 60fps on PS5

@djdizzy if it's that much of a concern for you move back a little. The human eye can't determine resolution difference past certain distances with 20/20 vision. If you have a 60" 4k TV and you're more than 7 feet and 7 inches away you can tell the difference between at 4k and 1080p image. Everything you're seeing at that point is internal scaling changes and aliasing.

Re: Sega Wants Persona Dev Atlus to Do Simultaneous Worldwide Launches

@Mega-Gazz are you talking about P5R? A new release for that makes sense since they upgraded the engine for ps4 (I believe the used P5D engine) and P5 was made and originally targeted as a PS3 game.

@nessisonett it worked out fine for KH3! They just moved to a DLC episode model, RE:Mind is essentially KH3:FM. Although the non-sale price of both together doesn't reflect this.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade's PS5 Yuffie DLC to Be Download Code

@Jaz007 lol the worst part is that the policy is still slightly more consumer friendly than RCG for Judgment. I personally bought it in September last year with the sole purpose of playing in my ps5 after coming from the base ps4. And then they announce a ps5 version. And it's the same price ($40 usd) as the ps4 version. With no upgrade path available.

It's an example of how things "can always be worse" that doesn't need to happen. But for every 1 game that does this we still get about 4-5 free upgrades. Heaven forbid Sony tries to implement some policy saying that every game is capped at a $/£/€10 upgrade fee. Publishers would run a mile with that *****.

Re: Round Up: NieR Replicant Reviews Love the Yoko Taro Experience

@RubyCarbuncle Hey no worries, my wording in the original response was accusatory and I apologize for that. But just because it works fine for your set up doesn't mean that these errors and issues are fixed. And a majority of steam users have the FAR mod enabled, which fixes a majority of the graphical bugs and hangs. But it's been largely a negative review due to their lack of support for PC version while the ps4 got like 6 patches. People started to change them due to the announcement of a patch, but I honestly can't recommend anyone buying the game on PC in its current, un-modded state.

Re: Round Up: NieR Replicant Reviews Love the Yoko Taro Experience

manonfire

@RubyCarbuncle you said "Btw Nier Automata runs flawlessly on PC now. It had issues at launch but they're no longer there now."

These issues are still there as there has not been an official patch in 4 years. It's not possible for these issues to be fixed without altering the code within the PC version. So yes you are lying just based on the virtue that you're stating the issues are fixed without any update or fix provided by the developers.

Re: Round Up: NieR Replicant Reviews Love the Yoko Taro Experience

manonfire

@RubyCarbuncle Nier Automata does not run flawlessly on PC. I just booted it to check and there's still the frame rate issues and graphics memory issues that immediately kill my system's performance with the FAR mod disabled. There still hasn't been a single patch for the game on PC since launch in March 2017 so please don't spread around false information.

Re: The Latest NieR Replicant Trailer Comes Packed with Gameplay

manonfire

I wish I could say this is a day 1 buy. But after square-enix's handling of the nier:automata pc port (3 years and game of the yorha edition release, no patches for the graphic issues). Also the lack of any news regarding ps5 upgrades for FFXV, KH3, and FF7R leads me to believe it will be a paid upgrade path and I might as well just get the native ps5 version. I just don't want to end up in a situation like 2k21 where you have to repurchase the ps5 version even if you own the ps4 version.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Approaching Two Months Absent from PS Store

manonfire

@get2sammyb is there any reason why Robert Ramsey hasn't just started a new file to complete the game? If the save file is bonked there's not really much hope that a patch will fix it. Idk, in 2011 when skyrim was unplayable on consoles due to the ballooning memory size the official remedy was to delete your save and restart...

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5 and PS4 Game of the Year 2020?

manonfire

My rankings of the games I've played this year.

1. Persona 5:Royal (10/10)- Honestly the most complete game I've ever played and never felt so satisfied. Hundreds of hours of enjoyment and one of my few platinums.

2. Ghost of Tsushima (9/10)- Absolutely beautiful, great story and combat. Felt that more side missions would've been good, but the quality was great.

3. Demon's Souls (9/10)- Such a treat and probably the best launch game I've ever played. Feels a little short, and coming from pc souls and sekiro I miss mods.

4. 13 Sentinel: Aegis Rim (8/10)- Amazing story/visual novel! The battle portions are decent, definitely not the main attraction. I mainly feel that this would've been perfect on vita or switch though. It's consumable in perfect bite sized portions.

5. FFVII: Remake (8/10) - Amazing blend of arpg combat with a slight turn-based strategic feel. Really what put me off was that the combat felt limited in terms of combat. I love that they expanded the story to build the world but also 7s story was a b-tier film compared to 6, 8 and 9 for me. It also doesn't help that at this point I can't really tell what is a retcon or not. Hopefully this means a dirge of cerberus and crisis core remake as well???

6. The Last of Us 2 (7/10) - I just want to preface this with I bought this game twice, once for me and once for my brother. The whole game feels like a movie and the world is beautiful. I definitely thought the second part of the story was the better portion.

But I think early on into the 1st part day 3 I was over it. It felt like I was still playing the original last of us and also uncharted 3/4. The set pieces became predictable. I knew exactly when I'd have to shake for the flashlight. Still 3 pulls to turn on any generator, random things have to be lifted in a interactive scene for no reason. And I just became fatigued with it all and didn't enjoy as much as I had hoped or compared to the previous naughty dog titles.

Re: PS5 Doesn't Have Quick Resume, But Loading Is Lightning Fast

manonfire

@dualwielding ps5 functions similar to the ps4's rest mode/suspend state. You can go into the menu and perform low level functions without needing to close the game and the game is suspended at the same point. This functionality is sill reserved for one game at a time and is not recoverable with a loss of power to the system. Microsoft's quick resume provides that function but for multiple games and the state is recoverable with a loss of power. Hope this clarifies stuff for you!
