Honestly don't care about E3 or SoP. I don't need my balls tickled with highlights that may or may not represent the full game. When it comes out, I'll look into it and buy it if it appeals to me. I don't need teasers and trailers months or years in advance when it's completely irrelevant.
Love all the people coming out with comments like "people who were confused about this should be put in padded cells." As usual, these people only read the misleading headline and not the article.
It's perfectly reasonable for someone to expect the higher tiers of PS+ to work in the same way that PS+ has worked historically (you put a game in your library, it's yours to play as long as you're subscribed). The fact that it doesn't just goes to show how lazy of a service this is, it's literally just PS Now tacked on with a few extra games. And the fact that the service has now been given the PS+ label is what's causing the confusion. Sony doing a stellar job as usual.
@Flaming_Kaiser Oh no, I'm sorry, I must have given you the impression that I care about your opinion. I apologize, I don't.
If it's your right to post pointless garbage on the internet, surely it's my right to reply to it? Funny how you people are all for "freedom" until it gets turned against you.
Mate, guaranteed you've never been to China or Russia but your type (basicass propagandized Americans) doesn't ever STFU about it, so I'll say whatever I want about westerners, thanks - "free speech" and all.
@dark_knightmare2 It's ridiculous to give a game a 5? Do you know how stupid you sound? No one is white knighting dude, I'm just reminding you that no one cares what you think. People who define their existence via gaming often forget that, it's good to be put in your place every now and then
@Flaming_Kaiser You mean in Russia and China, they don't have manchildren holding grudges over online video game reviews that literally don't affect them? Sign me up bro!
Westerners championing the "right" to waste your life like this makes me laugh.
@dark_knightmare2 You called it "ridiculous" lmao - that's perfectly normal? Calling a review "ridiculous" because it doesn't share your opinion? Nah, think I'd prefer to white knight, thanks.
This comment section proving why no one should trust the opinion of the average gamer, they'd just Google other people's opinions and then slap an 8 onto it. If these people had their way, the lowest rating any game would get would be a 7.
Thanks for this review, think I'll give it a miss until it's much, much cheaper.
@Flaming_Kaiser Stop reading his reviews then? What's the point if you're just going to piss and moan about some ancient review on every article? Have you considered getting a life?
@theheadofabroom Thanks for some actual insight, it trumps the total blind guesses of everyone else who has commented.
That being said, what you're describing is a process every company who has released any game on a PlayStation console in the last 15ish years has had to do. Surely they have structures in place to tackle this efficiently.
@Rob_230 "financially rewarding"? When are trophies ever "financially rewarding"? Ironically, this instance is the only time trophies could in fact be financially rewarding, by giving nostalgic gamers an incentive to subscribe to the new service to platinum their old faves. Not to mention many of those old games have a legacy now that can be drawn on for trophy inspiration.
I never suggested it was easy, you suggested it was hard, and I suggested you had no idea. Realistically, for a game developer, I'd be more inclined to believe it's not going to be some great behemoth of a task.
Yeah, sure, studios that don't exist/IPs that aren't owned by the same companies anymore obviously can't add trophies. That doesn't have anything to do with this.
Your conclusion just isn't based on very much, but hey, opinions indeed.
@Rob_230 Says who? I love how we've just made up this argument on the hypothetical basis that it's somehow difficult or time-consuming for devs to add trophy support.
@AndyKazama You think devs who are too lazy to add trophy support will spend a significant amount of time fixing anything, lol?
It would be a good month, but as the final month of PS Now, it's pretty meh. But of course there's franchise games included so the fanboyism is rampant: how dare we not love this 8 year old Naruto game!!
@BoldAndBrash Oh dear. Actually going through my post history and then accusing me of being toxic HAHAHA. Please get a life, your posts were never worth reading but this is extra pathetic. Really selling yourself as being different from "toxic Twitter" :')
Somehow every person who moans about Twitter and uses terms like "virtue signalling" unironically is always this cringe.
@BoldAndBrash The only one who said 2 paragraphs is a lot is you, just now. Again, says a lot about you, lmao :') and I think we have a clear picture of who people who randomly complain about Twitter are.
@BoldAndBrash I'd be more concerned about yourself if I were you. Not only are you incapable of understanding what a paragraph is, your reading comprehension needs work as well - or maybe you just need glasses.
Either way, glad we're focusing on the war in Ukraine. :')
@BoldAndBrash You've literally made up three paragraphs of outrage in this post and then have the nerve to blame Twitter for not focusing on the important stuff? lmao, never change, gamers.
@Tulio517 Is it though? We have PS Now, I had it for a year but saw no reason to renew. Sometimes nothing is better than spending your money on a bad something.
As an adult who enjoys JRPGs but values my time, this makes this an instant miss for me when it otherwise would have been a slam dunk. Patch it or move over.
@Alan_cartridge_ The consumer perspective is all that should matter to nearly everyone commenting. Once again, none of us are shareholders. All this clucking from hens is meaningless.
If you have an issue with the discussion, feel free to stop responding.
@thefourfoldroot The best take, honestly. The console war rubbish is juvenile, but even if we entertain it, what do we have to gain as consumers from the success of these companies? What does a company being worth 400 billion mean to us individually? None of us are shareholders, lmao.
So really, their bottom line means nothing as long as they have enough money to innovate and continue releasing good games, which they absolutely do. The number of incredible Song exclusives released over the past several years has been staggering, and as a consumer, those new, strong, creative IPs are what matter to me. Microsoft can come in and throw their bulk around, but that's because they have to, they've always been the weaker option in terms of game choice. They have to spend money buying up IPs that other companies have spent time making successful, in order to compete.
This move might court casuals, and it may well make them the market leader, but as a more invested gaming consumer who doesn't benefit in any way from a company's valuation, the home of quality games is still PlayStation.
I think the biggest issue about this game is that it's following two great Middle-earth games, for which we apparently have no sequel for, and it seems we're getting this instead? It's already a tough act to follow, and I don't hate the concept, but certainly everything we've seen so far doesn't evoke much excitement.
@nhSnork Admittedly I've skimmed this because, as far as I'm concerned, such a flaccid stance doesn't require 2 paragraphs of flowery words to explain, perhaps keep the masturbatory language to a minimum? If you don't want the subscription to be better, for whatever strange reason as a consumer, I'm not sure what reason you have to be participating in the discussion. You'll happily take it in any form, so what is your grievance exactly?
@AhmadSumadi Any action is still better than doing nothing, including online petitions. And mate, you're literally complaining about people complaining, you do in fact complain. Except instead of complaining to Sony, you moan on forums because other people are trying to improve the service for everyone, lmao. If there's anything more worthless and more pointless than an online petition, it's what you do.
@nhSnork "sane" (smart is really the more appropriate term) people buy a 12-month sub during a sale if they're interested because it's significantly more expensive to pay monthly, nearly 3x as much over the period of a whole year, and smart people don't waste money needlessly. A 12-month sub though, whilst significantly better value for money, makes it much harder to only "pay when they're interested."
As for the rest of your point, most people want PS+ to be a good service, in terms of value and content. They want to subscribe to it. They might have subscribed to it during a period in which it was a good service and the quality has since dropped. The failure is on Sony's part for making poor choices that alienate these people who are happy to give their business in return for a solid service. If you're not invested in the service, yes, the "rational" thing to do is to leave because in that case, the service didn't offer you anything that was worth keeping. For people who are invested and want the service to be better or even as good as it was previously, the "rational" thing to do is to want change.
And how other people choose to go about courting that change is really none of anyone else's business, especially people who have a flaccid philosophy on the matter.
@Mgene15 Yep, you didn't pay for a "free" game, as PS Plus is a "free" service that you don't pay anything for!
The games are part of what you get for the subscription cost. It's part of the service, they're not "free" games, Sony aren't giving them out as a favour.
@AhmadSumadi So when you're disappointed by games, you just don't say anything and keep being disappointed month after month? How is that admirable lol? It's buying a product over and over again that you don't like, except you don't say anything and you keep giving them money anyway, so nothing changes.
Why are you so mad that other people are actually trying to voice their displeasure? Sure, it probably won't amount to anything, but it is 100,000 x better than what you do, which is nothing.
@Keyblade-Dan A "full on expansion"? What exactly does that mean? Is it equal to 75% of the original game's content? Because the price tag is 75% of the original game's price tag, if you want to upgrade to PS5.
@RBMango I already supported Sucker Punch by buying the original game Day 1 at full price. Is this new expansion equal to 75% of the full game's content to justify 75% of the full game's price on PS5? I somehow doubt it.
