@LogicStrikesAgain that's because Western companies were forcing the idea to players in recent years that "sexy female character = problematic because male gaze", so those players turned to support Asian companies who are giving players what they want without censoring stuff.
That's why Asian games like Stellar Blade are being a huge success and "non-problematic" Western games like Concord/Saints Row Reboot/Unknown 9/Outlaws/Vanguard/Forspoken, etc flopped.
While Western companies keep closing down their studios due to their obsession to appease the inexistent "modern audience" , Asian devs keep growing up more and more because they actually know what most gamers worldwide want to see.
@Ainu20 Yes its good to experiment, but the problem is that FF hasn't been turn based for like 20+ years now, at least the mainline games. Every game after X, released on early 2000, has been experimenting again and again.
That's like saying "the damsel in distress trope is tiresome, its good for a female character to be strong and brave too for a change", not realizing that the damsel in distress trope hasn't been a thing for like more than a decade now at least in Western media, and so people got tired of the girl-boss trope being forced on everything in fear of feminist backlash, and want the damsel in distress back for a change.
LMAO, we all knew numbers of players isn't the same thing as numbers of sales, is just the media trying to desperately defend this "modern audience" game as a mega hit after so many recent "modern audience" flops.
Yep, let's all just automatically forget about Forspoken, Suicide Squad, Star Wars Outlaws, Saints Row Reboot, Concord, Dustborn, Unknown 9 Awakening, Dragon Age Vailguard, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, etc because 1 game succeeded among a dozen flops lol
Naughty Dog only cares about pushing agendas nowadays, people were okay with it in 2020 which is why TLOU2 succeeded still, but the political climate has changed and people are more aware of certain agendas nowadays, so let's see how Interwokelactic performs.
Good, they killed Joel just to follow an early 2020's feminist trend of having "strong women" as leads instead of men, now after the backlash of Intergalatic they're afraid of keep going down the route of the 2nd game.
Asian devs knows the type of female designs that appeal to everyone, meanwhile Western devs are too focused on appealing to 1% of the population and then they wonder why their female-led games are flopping lol
If only they made a Prince of Persia game that had an actual Persian as the protagonist and an Assassins Creed set in Japan with an actual Japanese male protagonist.
I hope they learned from their mistakes
You have to take into account development costs, usually RPGs have a much higher budget compared to horror games (because horror is a niche genre, not mainstream), so yes since the Silent Hill games usually cost less to make than your standard more mainstream games then 2 million copies in a couple of months is a big success for a horror game like SH compared to other franchises.
@DennisReynolds both Stellar Blade and Tomb Raider have good looking/sexy female protagonists, that's why they didn't bombed specially Stellar which is very about fanservice lol
The Marvels, Madame Web, Unknown 9 Awakening, Dustborn, Forspoken, Concord, Saints Row reboot, Suicide Squad, Ghostbusters 2016, Resident Evil 2022 Netflix series, Star Wars The Acolyte, Velma series, etc -> they all had "empowered women protagonists made for modern audiences" and look they state they're in now, flop or cancelled.
After the first game, they focused on prioritize more the LGBT/diversity stuff and "making a game for everyone" instead of focusing on making a good story/gameplay/characters, and they wonder why none of the sequels reached the sales of the first one.
@Zemo55 actually SH2's sales are more impressive than DB's, due to the fact that horror is not a mainstream genre. Outside of RE, its really hard for a horror-focused game to sell millions of copies in a few days, and usually only RE can do it 'cause its more action focused, while SH2R is more focused on psychological horror rather than action. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball has been one of the most popular anime IPs for decades worldwide, and its a fighting game, so you have 2 mainstream reasons as to why it sold that much, while SH2 is a niche franchise + horror game which makes its sales much more impressive
@DennisReynolds dude, the biggest flops of the year are all "inclusive and diverse" lol Dustborn, Suicide Squad and Concord. Star Wars Outlaws had low sales according to Ubisoft. And let's not forget about the recent flops of Forspoken, Saints Row reboot, etc The two biggest movies of this year, Deadpool and Inside Out 2, features two white protagonists and a white blond girl respectively. Hogwarts Legacy, which had a huge controversy from Twitter to make it flop due to Rowling, became a huge seller.
@naruball yeah thost bigots don't know what they're talking about, look at all the recent media filled with diversity and feminism which have been massive success and not at all have flopped or got cancelled: Forspoken, Saints Row reboot, Concord, Suicide Squad, Strange World, Lightyear, Bros (Gay comedy), She Said, The Acolyte, Little Mermaid Live Action, Resident Evil Live Action Netflix, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Madame Web, The Marvels, Echo, Ghostbusters 2016, The Craft Legacy, Batwoman, Charlie's Angles reboot, etc....
Also why both Stellar Blade and Hogwarts Legacy both flopped hard, because the modern gamer hates transphobia and sexism!
Thank you Asian companies for being the only ones who still prioritizes good stories and fun gameplay in a game, unlike Western companies who prioritizes the skin color of their characters and their games flops afterwards.
Companies really should start rejecting working with Sweet Baby Inc. Pretty much 7 out of 10 games they're involved in always end with either commercial failure or with the closure of its game studio. Unless they work on an already huge popular IP like Spiderman or God of War, they do more bad than good.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Has Sold an Astonishing 10 Million Copies in Three Days on PS5, PC
This can't be possible, according to ScreenRant if a game doesn't have diversity and feminism, the "modern audience" won't buy it and it'll flop.
