Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 16, and Metaphor: ReFantazio All Get a Boost on PS5 Pro

@HonestHick I'd agree that a 7 (maybe 8 depending on the tv youre hooked to) feels about right as well. I've seen enough to please me in the games I tend to play to make my purchase feel worthy. Hopefully more of the announced patches will arrive sooner than later.

I do however think that the real benefit will come to show in the games that get released between now and whenever the next gen machine arrives. At the minute it's just a bit of glitter, admittedly more or less in some cases, on games we already have. I am please that some VR titles are seeing the benefit though as a little bonus.

@JB_Whiting Ragnarock has a patch and gives you multiple new options, including which AA mode you want to use.

The majority of the ones you have played are only using the console boost, which is why you won't see much difference. Although I believe metaphor runs at a locked 60 now according to DF.

I've played so far Gran Tourismo, Dead Island 2, No Mans Sky, Horizon Forbidden West and Alan Wake 2 and all of them are head and shoulders over the base versions.

Not taking away from your experince but with the pro consoles, it's always at the whim of the developer as to how they use the additional oomph. The console itself will steady out framerates but it won't change anything else much if devs don't patch it. Saying that, you will find all newer games will arrive with the features and over time, more devs will send patches out. Hopefully it makes you feel a bit better about your purchase after a bit more time.

@JB_Whiting Sorry to hear that man. There quite a few that are patched that have new options from what I've seen. Dead Island 2 doesn't have a graphics/performance toggle but the game is quite clearly running at a much higher level than the base version. I've personally been quite impressed with what I've tried on mine.

Admittedly I haven't tried silent hill directly as I'm waiting for my disc drive to arrive, but online videos show it's clearly running worse than the base version. Just seemed very odd.

@Trojan well, someone hasn't read all the comments. Nobody is being a console warrior, nobody is denying MS have the money. What we are saying is if they don't get the uptick in GP subs they want then it could push them further into the realm of being a publisher. Which nobody wants.

I have no idea what you are on about in your last comment. Literally no idea.

I know folks will say MS get the money either way, but if sign ups aren't that dramatic its hardly a reason to celebrate.

Using figures from Feb 2013, plus had 47 million and as of March this year, GP 35 mill. (Those likely changed as we know both stagnated on the subs front.)

The big catch is Sony has massively increased its console base, which likely increased subs as new people pick up the box. MS have done so by a pretty small amount. If COD doesn't bring the subs in, it's looking more and more like they will go full 3rd party publisher.

Nobody wants that as Sony need to be challenged.

@MrPeanutbutterz as a fellow guitar player, I appreciate the joy of a new pickup.

My kids have zero interest in playing with conkers on laces sadly. It's annual tradition now that we collect them and they fester in a bag until they are binned. It's just not the same.
