As I said in another article, I just tipped on the pro today. I learnt that the drives were gold dust very soon after that

Well I crumbled and bought a pro. Now I need a disc drive and my god, that's just not happening is it.

@alienwithin for Microsoft you mean. It's not win win for xbox if they don't pull in enough users to their console, as there won't be one and they'll go full publisher.

@Trojan well, someone hasn't read all the comments. Nobody is being a console warrior, nobody is denying MS have the money. What we are saying is if they don't get the uptick in GP subs they want then it could push them further into the realm of being a publisher. Which nobody wants.

@Nexozi hard to argue it's a bargain you have there. Problem is using the loopholes (which, let's be honest, you should use if they are there) doesn't bring money in for Microsoft that they want from subs.

@MrPeanutbutterz this is correct. They initially announced the had just over 35 million subs. It was then clarified that this included those rebranded from core. Actual gamepass subscribers declined slightly when the core folks were removed.

@Banjo- just wanted to clarify I'm not a Sony fan only, I enjoy games on all systems. Again, apologies if it came across that way man.

@Banjo- I know you love xbox my man, and that's cool, but when there's an article telling you the digital sales are down by an exact percentage and the others are up, it's a little like arguing the sky is green when we can all just look up.

@Banjo- the article is literally talking about digital sales for both platforms.

@Cikajovazmaj for those that play it all year round, I imagine they will just buy it as it's cheaper to do than keep a sub running. In the UK at least, that doesn't appear to be happening. It may have got sign ups to try before they buy, but we won't see that for another month or so. If ever as both Sony and Ms are a bit shy on sharing the info out.

@AhmadSumadi Gamepass is the original DRM they wanted dressed in a prettier dress. Heck, at least the original let you own the game, now you don't even get that.

I know folks will say MS get the money either way, but if sign ups aren't that dramatic its hardly a reason to celebrate.

Using figures from Feb 2013, plus had 47 million and as of March this year, GP 35 mill. (Those likely changed as we know both stagnated on the subs front.)

The big catch is Sony has massively increased its console base, which likely increased subs as new people pick up the box. MS have done so by a pretty small amount. If COD doesn't bring the subs in, it's looking more and more like they will go full 3rd party publisher.

Nobody wants that as Sony need to be challenged.

We run a tech scheme at work were you can purchase things through salary sacrifice and save some money on them. Mine refreshes in January so I will grab a pro and disc drive through that. I'm in no rush for one right now

Great month. Bit of WWE multiplayer with my pals brings back some fond memories, dead space is awesome and Doki Doki completely caught me off guard (and may well be my favourite of the 3).

In regard to the game, it's not one of my favourites but for a tenner you seem to get a good amount of upgrades over the original.

My kids have zero interest in playing with conkers on laces sadly. It's annual tradition now that we collect them and they fester in a bag until they are binned. It's just not the same.

@MrPeanutbutterz I struggled with horizon a bit as (for me at least) it ventured a bit close to the feeling I get from a ubisoft open world. I burnt myself out on assassins creed games and struggle these days if a game tips me into the same feeling (if that makes sense).

With DG, the world just felt good to explore and I suppose that pulled me in. Once you upgrade the bike and fuel is not really a concern, it's just a wonderful setting to get lost in. As @JustX says, the characters do grow and I also felt at a loss when it finished. It's the rare game were even though it was done, I still booted it up to just wander round the setting.

He is also right that it's good to like different things. In that vein, I hope none of this has come across like an 'argument'. I've enjoyed the back and forth of it all and that it remained civil is always good.

Weekend has been decent my man, conkering with the kids always takes me back. I hope yours has been to.

Witcher 3 is by far a better game, horizon not so much.

I found days gone to be up and running far sooner than horizon. Again, it's fine to say you bounced off it.

@MrPeanutbutterz because you can't comment on the game as a whole because you didn't finish it. It took me around 45 hours to complete it (I haven't platinumed it or anything).

I also notice you seem to go down the 'well someone else said this' route, which is a bit silly. There are plenty of folks here who enjoyed it, and it would be easy to say the same thing you have in reverse.

All I'm saying is you were being a bit dramatic over a game you bounced off after hardly progressing in it. Which is fine, but it's also fine to enjoy it for those that stuck with it.

@MrPeanutbutterz it is, and your opinion is something you are fully entitled to. I just feel to write a game off as one of the worst you played when, by your own admission, you didn't even get into the real bones of it (8 hours you said) is a bit dramatic. It's fine to say it's not for you or you bounced off it, but I'd argue you never even scraped the surface. 8 hours isn't much in an open worlders, I'm sure you'd agree.

It is a slow burner though, we can agree there. But once/if it clicks, it's genuinely wonderful.

Edit: In regards to upvotes and agreements, that's all good. There are many saying they love it in this thread. They just aren't replying to everyone who disagrees.

@MrPeanutbutterz bit dramatic pal. Days Gone is one of my favourites of the last gen. The world is amazing. Yeah, it's all a bit dude bro character wise but how many games are in that vein. If it's not for you that's cool, but let folks try it for themselves instead of replying to everyone who disagrees with you.

I used to wish companies wouldn't announce games three or four years in advance. I used to love seeing a trailer and then only having to wait a few months to get my hands on it. The Internet and constant need for news changed all that. For better or worse.

It's just popped on the uk store for those asking.

Looking forward to this, it feels like a nice game to follow astro bot with and probably one my kid will be able to play with me as well.

Days Gone is up there with my favourite games. The actual world itself is the true star of it all. Sad to see someone let bitterness eat away at them.

I would find it very funny if it turns out Bend have actually been working on a sequel.

@Loamy there is a video of Segal doing a martial arts display for Putin and its one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The folks he is 'fighting' have clearly been told to sell his moves, and it's glorious. He's just bumbling round while these chaps are hurling themselves off the slightest touch.

@riceNpea there was the odd mission that was locked to the house you were placed in, but everything was pretty much there from the get go. PS had an exclusive mission but that became available to all at some point.

Thoroughly enjoyed 1st one, even if it was a bit samey at points. The world itself was lovely ti explore and the 40fps mode was a welcome sweet spot.

I think everyone could see this game crashing hard a million miles off. It may not even be a bad game, it was just a game nobody wanted. Anyone interested in a hero shooter is already so deeply invested in what they have, turning their head would be impossible, especially at 40 quid. Who in their right mind thought that price was a good idea when already established titles are free to play.

Not every game has to be a mega budget triple A. Give us the Tokyo jungles, ico's, astrobots. Give us those crazy weird double A games that turned out to be sleeper hits. The true hidden gems for any console are those little nuggets that pop out of nowhere and take a chance.

And when it comes to triple A's, listen to your market base. We want a Days Gone 2. Give us a bloodbourne remaster. Give us another infamous.

And when you have them, tell us about them! No more of this deafening nothingness. Show people what you have in the pipeline. Because when all you have is silence and concord, you end in a mess like this.

@LowDefAl when it comes to drum kits I agree. However, I will bang that monotonous plastic controller till the cows come hone and I will love it.
