PSVR2 is awesome. Playing RE4 is worth the entry price alone. While there is a place for flat screen, god is it boring once you've played high quality VR.
This has got to be VR!!! How good was the original on PSVR1. One of the best VR games ever made, and so by definition miles better than any flat screen Astrobot would be.
@SgtTruth There's trade offs. The PSVR2 has proper blacks being oled which will be great for dark areas in Metro, unlike the washed out Quest and LCD pc panels. Plus oled gives you much brighter colours too. Plus you have eye tracking, the best controllers in the business and head haptics. I think you are being a bit disingenuous.
@__jamiie There are plenty of awesome games. RE4, RE8, GT7, Horizon, Synapse, Red Matter 2 etc. Remember the headset isn't a year old yet. Far better first year for content that any console launch... I do fear for the future of PSVR2 though as it hasn't sold great. Desperately needs the new Astrobot. It has to be in the works.
If it can run GTA6 at 60fps then it will sell like hot cakes to all current PC users and gamers in general. If it can't, it's relevance and sales will be significantly diminished. Let's see what a 30% cpu uptick and the new upscaling can achieve... I'll probably buy one regardless for much better PSVR2 gaming but I think a lot of it's relevance really relates to what it will be be able to do with GTA6 and upcoming Unreal 5 games in hitting 60. I don't think hitting 40 is enough.
@theMEGAniggle I know it's madness isn't it! They don't have to show all their games at once and blow their load.... Apparently it's bloody hard to make video games, and takes bloody ages and lots of resources to do so. 😃 They are doing fine.
@DNortonX They were hardly going to show Wolverine! Insomniac are working on getting Spiderman ready for Xmas. What are they gonna show with Wolverine, another 2 min cinematic. Let Spidey breathe and get released, Wolverine will come later. Factions and Astrobot on the other hand you would have expected.
Best stuff looked the PSVR2 games. Great to see RE4 looks like the full VR mode. Crossfire, Arizona Sunshine 2 and Synapse look brilliant too. No Astrobot though! Or Factions for that matter.
Gorilla are incredible with their technical wizardry, I mean just look at this game. Where they fall short is gameplay and game design as the game loop just isn't that great.
@thefourfoldroot1 There is mura on PSVR2, of that there is no doubt. If you really haven't seen it at all then.... wow. There are so many variables with VR and people's differing eyeballs, but I suspect you've somehow starred through it.
@SJBUK It's just the limitation of the tech as we stand at the moment. Being in the game as oppose to sat in your living room watching a screen is what makes VR though. The immersion is just off the scale compared to flat screen. And you appreciate the graphics much more in 3 dimensions. In fact you could argue that the graphics on PSVR2 are better than flat screen PS5 due to the 3d element which elevates games immensely.
@Yinx Yea I'm just on that bit now with Manuel reload and hardcore mode. It's bloody splendid stuff. Scary as fook though. That part reminds me more of Resi7 VR for tension, dread etc
@Chibbie Up close things should look high res and pretty clear, but yes resolution decreases with perceived distance. It's a tech limitation. Remember you've only got a PS5 running this thing and only got 2k per eye. Your going to need 4,6 or 8k per eye, native 120 FPS (no reprojection), elimination of mura to get to what you seem to have been hoping for. If Sony release a PSVR3 on the PS6 or PS7 then I think you'll be getting close to your wish. To be honest I was hoping for a slightly higher bump in resolution from the PSVR1 but hey ho... The immersion is everything though and RE8 has some insane parts in VR.
@Kwakpilot0 Yes I agree with you. It's bloody amazing really. And it is up there with the best on the market as you say... I'm just greedy I think. It's unreasonable to expect a flat 4k TV like image in 3d on a screen an inch from your eyes. Once you settle into a game the immersion is insane. I played 50 hours plus in Skyrim on PSVR1. Now that was proper blur!... But still awesome I might add.
Yes I think maybe we expected too much. I think VR is incredible mainly because of the fact that you're 'in the game'. This is probably the best quick description of VR I've come across. However with just shy of 4x the resolution spread across a bigger screen than PSVR1, a mura effect that is very noticeable particularly in dark scenes, as well as noticeable double imaging around the edges of geometry due to reprojection to get 60fps up to 120 there are still clearly a few issues to resolve come PSVR3..... Not to say I won't play the hell out it though! I think maybe games like Pistol Whip and other cell shaded, less demanding games that run natively will look sharper..
I'm actually slightly underwhelmed so far with the graphics having played Kayak and GT7. It's a decent step up from PSVR1 but I was kind of expecting more... Maybe have to wait for the 8k PSVR3 with foveated rendering.
Sony needs to have at least 2 more first party VR games at launch or just after, and they need to tell us about them now. Horizon alone does not cut it. Where's GT VR, Wipeout others? Resi 8 will help as will Half life when that eventually gets announced.
@ROTTIEMAN16 Yes I realised that from another post on here. Many thanks though. No wonder they're not sold out, they claim they've sold out when they haven't! Not great sales tactics!
@Critonic You're bloody right sir! Just saw your message about the bug and logged back on again and sure enough it's in stock! Pre-ordered like the big tit I am.
Good shouts there Liam.... Apart from RE Village. I struggle to understand how that can be number 1. It's just a poorly made game with poor story, no sense of terror or dread, poor bosses, too fantasy, and just incredibly average. I'm a huge RE fan back playing RE1 on a Ps1 with no memory card. RE7 VR was probably the most incredible game I've played ever and even without VR it has a sense of grit, claustrophobia, realism and horror that RE Village just doesn't have at all. RE1, 2 and code veronica are the best for me, obviously with RE7 VR as it's just mind blowing. I felt violated after each session on that game. It was superb.
When you say the dualsense isn't supported, you just mean the haptics etc dont you? I've just ordered hitman 3 on ps5 to play in vr and thought i might have to re-buy a ps4 pad for a minute which would be balmy.
Yes i think it'll be cross gen. They need to Ps4 sales too. It'll probably kick ass regardless if the last GOW is anything to go by. However the ps4 will undoubtedly be holding creative development back. The real next gen GOW will be the one that follows Ragnorok.
So did I, but have you received a confirmation email yet? Ingot the completed purchase page at Argos and got an order number but No confirmation email yet.

Re: Metro Awakening Tells a Series Origin Story on PSVR2, Out This Year
I hope it's not coming to Quest, especially Quest 2 as unless they upgrade it for PSVR2/PCVR it could be severely held back back by mobile headsets.

Fookin brilliant. Capcom and Sony have been awesome. Wish I hadn't played this flat screen now!

Re: Stunning Watersports Sim Kayak VR the Big Winner from PSVR2 Launch
I've spent the most time playing RE8 followed by GT7. Can't wait for RE4 most of all. Kayak VR is ok but not an awful lot to it.

Bloody magnificent game. Play on hardcore mode with all the manuel reloading to get the best pant wetting experience.

Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake's PSVR2 Content Arriving After Launch
I really hope it's the full game of RE4 remake in VR. Just played a bit of Kayak and GT7. Time for RE8 after the Man City game.

This is a proper reason to be excited in gaming again! Best hardware release in 10 years. Makes you feel like a kid again.
Re: PSVR2 Demoed at CES, Horizon Call of the Mountain the Highlight
@TrickyDicky99
Foveated rendering I presume will give the PSVR2 a significantly better image than quest 2.

Yea good luck getting one! I've had 2 invites and sold out as always. Scalpers will be selling these for £1000 and gamers will be waiting for ages.
Re: Resident Evil 3 PS5 Upgrade Could Be Close to Release
They shouldn't have bothered, the game was really bad, and nowhere near to the standard of resident evil 2 remake or RE7, particularly in VR.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West's PS5, PS4 Visual Issues a High Priority, Patch Incoming ASAP
Runs great in performance mode on PS5. HDR looks brilliant on what is a mid/high end screen.

Looks pretty average for supposedly next gen. Thought there'd be car destruction physics on ps5. Would only want to play this on PSVR2.
