Re: Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain Has Been a Huge Success

Tenacious-P

To me a Game is always about how it plays first. Story, graphics, music & everything else comes after.
Heavy Rain was not a game. It had NO gameplay at all & is the very worst interactive experience I've ever had from a gameplay angle. The story became irrelevant as I just could not PLAY the thing. So I'm not going to use the word 'game' as I firmly believe it isn't one.

For anyone who did get enjoyment from it that's fair enough but me? Just terrible.

Re: Talking Point: Could 2017 Be Gaming's Greatest Ever Year?

Tenacious-P

I saw the headline & immediately thought "nah, not even close. '98 will never be topped" sure enough, '98 is the one everybody refers to.

2006 was also a vintage for me, my favourite game ever came out, Oblivion 😍

The latest Zelda is great but it doesn't come close to Elder Scrolls IV imo I'm afraid.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on PS4 Firmware Update 4.50?

Tenacious-P

External HDD support is a good thing but not something I personally need as I already have a 2tb drive. Boost mode again is good but should've been a Pro launch feature.

The thing Sony have done majorly wrong though is to dumb down the notification menu. It was perfect before & now it just doesn't make sense. Why, Sony?

The one feature I'm STILL waiting on though is the ability to disable the 'players you may know' section on the friends list. Why not put it at the bottom where it's unobtrusive?

On the whole, besides boost mode & external HDD support, it's ANOTHER pointless update!

Re: Sony Teases 'Cool, Still To Be Announced' PS4 Games

Tenacious-P

Any chance they could hold off announcing anything until it's almost due out please, Sony! Nothing worse than them telling us game X is due out...this time next year! Really?

Red Dead 2 is a prime example. I'd rather not know it's coming than know it is but not for 12 or more months!

Re: Talking Point: Are 'Live Games' Really What You Want on PS4?

Tenacious-P

I don't play anything that isn't single player so have never experienced any of these games.

It disappoints me that games are now being released that ONLY focus on being multiplayer as there are several titles I might have been interested in if they had a one player option; Star Wars Battlefront, The Division, For Honour etc

Single player titles such as Uncharted, Assassin's Creed & GTAV have had multiplayer tacked on so why can the reverse not apply?

Re: January's PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

Tenacious-P

I honest to god think Sony should just stop doing free monthly games. There would be much less disappointments that way.

I don't play online & only renewed my PSN membership last January in the hope that there would be some good monthly titles. Other than games I'd already bought before they were offered free I've not downloaded a single one of the utter crap they've shovelled out of their stable. I definitely will not be renewing my membership as I've given them £40 for literally nothing.

Give up, Sony or stop taking the piss out of us. Daylight robbery!

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?

Tenacious-P

@kyleforrester87 me either. So I figure I'm doing something wrong. The only game I have so far that uses the 4K upscaling is Skyrim but not sure if that's been patched. If it has then the differences are minuscule. Checked my resolution is at 3840X2160 & HDR is on. But I've not had any better performance out of the Pro's dashboard speeds either. Is there a setting I'm unaware of?

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?

Tenacious-P

@vegeta11 Vegeta rules! I've heard a lot of people say how quiet the Pro is, and it is. But my original PS4 never made any noise either other than the boot up/shut down sound. Is the PS4 considered noisy then?

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?

Tenacious-P

@PapaShuffler then yours is super special. Mine doesn't load any faster, no icons already loaded in library & can't see any difference in graphics either & I'm sat 5ft away from a 50inch 4K tv :/

Re: Soapbox: Skyrim Still Has Plenty to Offer Five Years On

Tenacious-P

@Flurpsel Several reasons. really. I much prefered the land of Cyrodiil, the quests, the main story arc. The guilds in particular were way superior. Specifically though the fact that you couldn't use spells without being armed in Skyrim really grated on me. In Oblivion you could have a spell equipped & use it at any time whether armed or not (very good for running from those bigger than you whilst healing).

The UI, the journal & map were much clearer & more detailed in Oblivion. The quick choice menu had equipable slots on all 8 directions on the d-pad.
There are a few other things but I'd love to see a redux of Oblivion. I don't have a gaming PC & can't really afford one otherwise I'd be all over modding it

Re: Soapbox: Skyrim Still Has Plenty to Offer Five Years On

Tenacious-P

Hmmm for me Witcher 3 doesn't even enter the top 5 best RPG's ever made. All 3 of the last Elder Scrolls games best it easily. That's not to say I think it's a bad game, certainly not but even the mighty Skyrim, as great as it also is, has a long way to go to beat Oblivion in my eyes.

Re: November's Free PlayStation Plus Games include Everybody's Gone to the Rapture on PS4

Tenacious-P

@Flaming_Kaiser no YOU had 2 great months. I've not downloaded any of the free games since January as they keep offering out stuff I've already bought. And seeing as I also don't play online I've literally just given £40 to Sony for nothing! Yes, Journey is a great game but some of us paid our £15 when it came out. Same with EGTTR, Abe's Oddysee, Lords of the Fallen, Transformers among others. I'm sick of them offering out stuff that I've already bought & they do it constantly. I didn't buy Axiom Verge as I thought they'd do that but no. But you can bet your bottom dollar they will if I do. So yeah, I'll cry a f***ing angry river!

Re: Site News: Let's Talk About Review Code and Push Square's Review Policy

Tenacious-P

Like others here I very much admire your integrity, honesty & determination to provide good games journalism. But I have to say, & this is just my own stance, I find reviews to be utterly pointless in this day & age & never read them. I don't even watch trailers any more. All I need to know is that a game is out & I'll discover everything else when I play it.

Re: Feature: What We Want from Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4

Tenacious-P

@kyleforrester87 nah not for me I'm too impatient, I'd rather not know. It's why I never watch game trailers, want to go in without a clue & I don't want to know a game's coming out until it's almost on top of us. Waiting is the worst thing. If you don't know, you're not waiting

Re: Feature: What We Want from Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4

Tenacious-P

What I need is for them to not announce it so stupidly early. There's nothing worse than chomping at the bit for a game then finding out its not due out for an age. Skyrim was the worst 9 months of my gaming life, now this & it's a whole year away!!! Really? Why didn't they wait to announce until next summer?

Re: Download Your Free PlayStation Plus Games Now

Tenacious-P

Once again Sony disappoints with games already purchased. They should stop offering 'free' games. I've not downloaded anything from their PS Plus selections at all this year & as I don't play online either I've just given them £40 for nothing. Won't be renewing

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with September's PlayStation Plus Games?

Tenacious-P

Journey is an amazing game but I already bought it when it came out just like a lot of Sony's other PSPlus offerings. Personally I don't play online & feel that their monthly games have been a gargantuan let down for over a year now. I literally give them £40 a year for nothing. Not renewing my subscription until massive improvements are made!

Re: Soapbox: Why Sony Needs to Change Its Refund Policy

Tenacious-P

@BenTarrant with respect, yes you can - in a way. I have done exactly that on a number of occasions when I didn't like a game, whilst I do not always get a refund, they were always happy to place the full amount on a gift card. At least that way I could spend it on something else in-store that I did like or save it until there was something else I wanted. Sony don't even offer this courtesy!

Re: Soapbox: Why Sony Needs to Change Its Refund Policy

Tenacious-P

This is the exact reason why every single game that is available digitally must have a playable demo. MUST. If I buy a game physically & I find something wrong with it or just plain don't like it I can return it. Playability is essential before purchase commitment!
