I played the new content for 30 minutes before work and loved it. Getting to play Red, the incredible music, the glorious battle mechanics... Shout out to the Chadley A.I. that speaks thru the controller with well-written enemy lore you'd normally have to read. I'm still butt hurt they cut the earth and water elements but I can't wait to sink my teeth next week
@SlasherZ I don't assume either, although the former is generally true outside of mainline entries like Wonder. But Mario VS DK got mediocre reviews from most gaming media and that didn't stop it from selling well, so here we are. I have and love my switch but Nintendo bias is definitely a thing.
@Darude84 I did the same and couldn't get throught AW1 but trust me, AW2 is a vast improvement in every way. You don't need to play the first to enjoy this one
Might pick of MK1 after playing at a friend's and loving it despite the ass-kicking he game me. Or finish the grindy final chapters of OT2. Less than two weeks until Rebirth and the wait is killing me.
@TheCollector316 people care because he spins BS. People get more addicted (more dopamine is released) to the anticipation of pleasure if there is a chance they'll get nothing at all. Fibbin' Phil does his shtick cause we fools lap it up.
@Bentleyma yeah this is interesting. I finally got around to playing Reunion last weekend and noticed many similarities, especially regarding the UI. CC definitely feels dated gameplay-wise, but I really enjoyed Zack's scenes with Aerith, as I feel they'll be paid off in Rebirth
@DennisReynolds yeah but can't say I'm surprised. Within my circle of gamer friends, I recommended it to everybody, including horror junkies, and most claimed they hadn't because they never played Alan Wake 1 or whatever. I think it's the videogame equivalent of an Everything, Everywhere All at Once. An academy darling that only the gamophiles discover.
@Olmaz yeah it's a bummer. I can understand not being nominated for GOTY or best direction, but RPG, music and performances deserved some love. I thought folks were over their hate-on for JK but clearly I was wrong.
@EquiinoxGII my pick too. I don't expect it to win but happy with the 8 noms recognizing this work of art. Hopefully that motivates more players to try it.
@somnambulance I hear ya. I'm probably a terrible uncle, but I've been playing with my 9 and 11-year-old niece and nephew. But they love watching horror games.
@Kraven Couldn't agree more. I'd never played much of Remedy's past games, but the reviews and gameplay footage convinced me to try AW2. I've been blown away. The storytelling and environmental design are exquisite. It's genuinely scary and unsettling throughout. Not sure how far you are, but just finished a certain genre-bending section (keeping it vague for spoilers sake) and I nearly died from gameplay joy.
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk Couldn't agree more. I'm taking my time. About 20 hours (maybe 2/3 through?) and I adore it. Best survival horror I think I've played and personal GOTY.
@frankmcma I'm not too surprised Hogwarts didn't make the cut. Let's not forget the whole anti JK Rowling debacle. I imagine since the the big boycott failed to prevent insane sales of Hogwarts Legacy, game journos will simply ignore it in any game awards discussions.
The game is top notch so far. I'm really impressed by the accessibility. I played a bunch with my 8 and 10 year niece and nephew and the modern controls made them feel like pros. I may have even lost fair and square. This game will have crazy staying power I imagine

Yeah it's pretty phenomenal. A big improvement from Remake and I loved that. Synergy system is so so good

Of course Mario vs DK is number 1. Nintendo need only take a dump and their fanboys lap it up.

Good to hear it's sold well and this is still pretty early in its life cycle. AW2 and BG3 were my GOTYs and now the DLC should come sooner than later.

@Hundred_Hand_Slap oh I just did the same! It's great fun and has totally gotten me primed for Rebirth

@Bamila agreed. Loved AW2 so the musical performance was a treat!
