UK Sales Charts: Helldivers 2 Holds Firm While Skull and Bones Sails into the Top 10

The failure of Suicide Squad and Skull and Bones gives me hope!

Helldivers 2 on the other hand is fantastic!

@Pat_trick I quit the beta after 30 mins. It was a "4A" into mediocrity.

@Bentleyma These charts are beyond meaningless. SS was at the top last week, but according to insiders it sold only half as well as Guardians(a notorious flop) and presumably a lot worse than Avengers(another notorious flop) judging by https://steamcharts.com/app/315210(yikes)

@Bentleyma That is the power of marketing, especially coming from the biggest game company in Europe. But we all know it is a flop, with both low review scores and critics from the players.

Of course Mario vs DK is number 1. Nintendo need only take a dump and their fanboys lap it up.

Is Helldivers any good? I've booted it up five times today and been told the service is at capacity. Nothing quite like paying 35 quid for a game I'm not allowed to F@££&ING play.

@Johnnycide It's very good. Bummer that you've been having problems. I had that screen twice on the weekends but I managed to get into the game after waiting on it for under 5 minutes each time.

@Johnnycide when you can get on it's magic mate. It's so simple yet such great fun. I'm having issues getting on too which is bumming me out but it's worth the wait.

@Bentleyma Saints Row reboot debuted at number 1 on the UK charts. Look how that turned out. These charts are a joke, buddy.

Push Square will forever report on these numbers, even if the number 1 game only sells 3 copies. They don't care it's irrelevant news, they care that I leave a comment. Here's another cent of ad revenue.

@SteveJameson True. Never understand why many of the mediocre games from Nintendo sold so well.

Physical copies of Helldivers 2 are now out of stock almost everywhere in the UK, so I'd imagine it won't hold that spot next week unless it gets restocked quickly.

@SteveJameson 🙄. Do you assume every game that has Mario in it are mediocre? Or thar every person that enjoys a Nintendo game are fanboys?

@mikeodyssey Why do you think I hate Nintendo? I have a NS too and I am willing to pay for great games like TOTK or Mario Wonder. However, I just do not understand why so many people are paying for mediocre games like Mario vs DK and Detective Pikachu. So you cannot accept the fact that Nintendo produces both great games and mediocre games every year?

@SlasherZ I don't assume either, although the former is generally true outside of mainline entries like Wonder. But Mario VS DK got mediocre reviews from most gaming media and that didn't stop it from selling well, so here we are. I have and love my switch but Nintendo bias is definitely a thing.

@Herculean aside from supply problems with physical media, it's safe to assume that it's a reasonable reflection of how digital is doing, it's the closest we've currently got to knowing weekly trends.

@Balosi no some publishers and genres sell way more digitally compared to others for example:

also and this is just statistics, the lower the sales number is, the bigger the relative margin of error will be (if we're looking at them as a sample of the gaming community) which means the more these numbers become untrustworthy.

Skull and Bones is a flop amongst game enthusiasts, like us, but I would guess not amongst people who have access to video games. Just because we think it's a dog doesn't mean the general public thinks the same thing. Somebody bought it as evidenced by this chart (relevant or not).
