Played on Game Pass and didn't get much out of it. I didn't get into the controls as I prefer arcade-type flight versus simulator. Spent a fair amount of time crashing and I think played it for all of one session.
It's an absolute blast - and ridiculously addictive. The farming bit is actually a nice break from the action. And without spoiling anything, the gameplay evolves in interesting and fun ways.
It's pretty fun so far. Feels better structured than 3, is less grating, and there are many quality of life improvements that really help. Co-op runs well.
But - I have to quit to main menu and then continue at least every hour, if not every half hour, as the frame rate really chugs after playing for a while. Especially doing boss farms. Otherwise, performance is okay.
Also: Some annoying little missions where you have to pick up an item and run with it back to a base. But you can always abandon those if you don't fancy them.
The graphics on the customization options look weird. Low res and ugly. Not on the gear, but in the browser. An odd choice.
Aside from these gripes, the general action is solid, and feels like Borderlands again, in a good way. I haven't really enjoyed any of them since 2, so this is a welcome relief.
Pretty much my favorite series. Enjoyed all the games, for story, world building and gameplay. Hugely replayable due to gun/power combo possibilities - as well as hanging out in those worlds. It's criminal that they've yet to produce a new game, but they've set a high bar. I do hope that both projects are attempting to innovate.
At this point it feels like Bioshock will be a bust, so I'm crossing my fingers that Judas delivers. And if not, I guess I'll play the others.
I thought that after the thing that happened, the series lost its central hook - the father-daughter relationship.
Part II for me was insanely repetitious, and I just hated the vibe. just creep around, slit some throats, for so many hours. It just felt empty and with very little to balance out the dread and the hate.
It looked good, but just left me cold, and I will never play it again.
It's great fun, and runs really well on series X. But it does get samey. And the fact that you get such incredible cars so quickly does kill the sense of gradual, satisfying progress. Still, it's a fun blast to pick up here and there
It's maybe worth pointing out that Starfield is a ***** game. When it comes to PS5 these comments will be filled with people slamming it. How anyone could have missed the millions of videos doing just that, I'm not sure. Watch Jack Sather's: https://youtu.be/tvo7fYOfMwc?si=tBNpeptwvS9cdNWG
I cannot wait to play the legends mode. I've put hundreds of hours into it. All the folks freaked at the concept of playing as a female in campaign can relax, and play a male legends character.
I loved BL1 - it actually felt original, and drew me into the world. It had a lot of flava that helped it stand out. I enjoyed the BL2 story and new environments. Hated the BL3 main story with terrible big bads. Though the DLCs were fun in places. Absolutely detested the other one in space, and TTW was absolutely forgettable.
What I could never get was why they did not build in a gun maker for players. So many of us gamers have imaginations and artistic inclinations - and I would love to see what guns people would come up with.
Honestly, I'd probably get more of a boot out of that than the game itself. The games have really gotten old in their design, and their tone particularly.
This really ages me. I remember when they were a thrash metal band. Started listening in 89, first saw them in 90. Incredible. Saw them again on the Load tour at Earl's Court and at their Big Day Out at Milton Keynes Bowl. On the bill were Sepultura, Ministry, Marilyn Manson and Monster Magnet. That was one amazing day.
@underthegun I think this about twelve times a day. It's crazy that entertainment and tech sites haven't worked this out yet. The Verge is the only one I read daily that is on board
@ThunderCracker Be careful what you wish for 😅 I bought a series X for that game and after the long delay and all that money, it wasn’t worth it at all. I went around the loop about three times but my God was it boring. An incredibly outdated game all around. I sold my series X soon after. I do hope Xbox port across a few games. But mostly Wolfenstein.
Super weird casting choices. How did they cast Kevin Hart as Roland and not Terry Crews? Love Cate Blanchett, but can't see her as Lilith. Though Jack Black is certainly annoying enough to voice Claptrap. Fingers crossed it's watchable.
@Dman10 Me too. It's still my favorite racer for that reason. Forza Horizon feels a bit too big to enjoy in the same way. Somehow Burnout Paradise had just the right size of map. I love being able to start and stop anything I liked. But my fave feature was the new vehicle shutdowns - they were such a buzz

PSA: Starfield is garbage.
I've said it before and will say it again. Don't get too excited for this. It's repetitive, empty and outdated.
