@ED_209 @Deoxyr1bose The majority of the 60 million people with PS5 consoles are super casuals who mostly play sports games, free to play/shooters,and occasionally buy other games. They aren’t buying the Stellar Blades or Rebirth’s.

The people who prefer single player games are just more vocal on the internet.

Marvel Rivals looks like it’s gonna smash this honestly.

Curious on how much this will actually sell.

Astro Bot is not going to sell that many copies.

Yasuke looks like an even better choice with all these generic samurai games that all look the same lately

@Nekomichu Miles to me was more exciting because it was unexpected and came out of nowhere. SM2 was exactly what I expected and the game was too predictable.

When you look at the charts it’s obvious…price of the game that’s why. People literally can’t afford games anymore.

These games are not selling any copies in the UK. Pitiful sales.

PS5 will be lucky to match PS4 numbers long term. I don’t see any sudden influx of new console players coming.

@Ainu20 it happens in the sneaker market all the time with “exclusive” shoes. PS5 was like the iPhone of the console world. A lot of people impulse bought it honestly. All the celebrities like Lebron and Travis Scott had and promoted it, all the streamers promoted it.

It was hard to get, but sold for 2x to break even for about 2.5 years. So even if you didn’t really care that much, it was basically free profit to get it anyway.

It was obvious if you looked at how weak the legs were for FF16. It sold that 3 million and completely fell off every chart,that’s not a smash hit.

Why are the software sales so mediocre though with 60 million users?

@MrMagic 7 percent is fine. These games don’t cost as much to port as you think.

Look at the competition though, it’s painfully non existent. Rebirth not even making top 20 isn’t good. And 2.5 months isn’t even THAT old honestly.

People just aren’t buying games outside the hardcore right now honestly.

There wasn’t much competition at all…MW3 is what, like 8 months old? Decade plus old GTA5 sold for dirt cheap. Pretty much any new release will get on the charts by default.

It looks to me like a lot of these newer games had weak legs, like where is Tekken or FF? These games disappeared quickly.

@ChrisDeku This isn’t a Japanese game but it’s clearly inspired by them. Not convinced when plenty of Japanese devs posted about it and praised it also.

67K is mediocre at best for how much this game was hyped. I’m curious as to what it sold worldwide.

Competition is weak, most of those games have been out forever. I doubt that topspin game sold that many copies too and still got third place.

I played this game a ton and ended up quitting because it was getting boring and nothing was happening. Also performance was poor.

I knew this game underperformed based on how quiet SE was,when they bragged about FF16 selling 3 million.

Sore losers have always been around and team based games have always been the most popular. Last time I checked the job market was as competitive as always also…

No way ronin sells the 5 million they want unless they sell it for 5 bucks. Maybe not even then actually.

People need to wake up and realize they old way of gaming is stagnant. PlayStation still hasn’t even grown in console sales since the PS2 and it looks like they will never break that record again. Games like Returnal selling a million copies won’t cut it.

@theSpectre PC day and date would have help and FF15 sold like a million on Xbox so yea those sales would have helped. Square needs every one.

Why only the first game? This is a niche series and it’s not even standalone story wise. Also I hope this isn’t full price on steam.

Curious as to will this game have legs or fall off the charts after a month like FF16 did.

It’s only that high because all the newer games like Tekken and the likes came out in late January.

@OldGamer999 I don’t think 2025 will be much better also. I’m not expecting anything besides ghosts of Tsushima 2.

@twitchtvpat hasn’t stopped insomniac or capcom or even Nintendo. Wouldn’t be surprised if Sony is doing it on purpose to save money why even bother making games when people will buy the console regardless

@Northern_munkey PS4 games had a more noticeable leap. Killzone shadowfall and Infamous were way more impressive for its time. You’re mentioning raw hardware too not saying anything about the tiny library

@Northern_munkey probably because It’s a clear downgrade from the last half of the previous generation. PS5 has been carried by multiplats and cross gen games. Almost all of the PS5 exclusives like Returnal and Ratchet have been ported to PC or will be ported quickly and new ones take forever to release.

The Console doesn’t even have 5 exclusives worth playing total at the moment.

PS4 had the excuse of having no backwards compatibility and the PS3 having the cell what’s PS5 excuse?

PS5 will leave no legacy when it’s all said and done

This generation will easily go down as the worst when it’s all said and done. Mostly cross gen games and filler and it’s almost over already smh
