PS5 fans believe the best route to reviving some of PlayStation’s dead franchises may involve Sony licensing them out to third-party publishers like Bandai Namco.

We’ve seen a trend recently of the platform holder offloading some of its dormant series, like Patapon and Everybody’s Golf, to other companies. It’s here they’re being repurposed as multiformat titles, across PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

And in a poll voted on by more than 1,000 Push Square readers, a whopping 72% of you said you’d like Sony to license more of its dormant IP out.

In the article, we focused on Japan Studio franchises like Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, and Tokyo Jungle, all of which feel like they could find a new market via an engaged publisher.

But it’s also worth considering the riches Sony has locked up in its vault worldwide: WipEout, The Getaway, MotorStorm, Twisted Metal, Cool Boarders… We could go on and on.

While we don’t love the fact it’s come to this, from our perspective, we’d rather see these series licensed out to passionate developers than left to rot. It seems like the vast majority of you agree.
