I've played thousands of games in the last 35 years and The Talos Principle is somewhere in my top 10 games of all time. I bought the game on a whim without even wanting to play a puzzle game. I came away from it with an absolute love of the story and more so the massive amount of Easter eggs and just brilliant setting. Little additions where I managed to glitch out of the map only to find a message from the Devs on a rock in the distance, was just a moment of genius on their part. An absolute blast and I can't wait for the sequel.
The real crazy thing is the hate that it got for it's length could have been aimed at so many critically acclaimed games that came before and after it, there's quite a few that have the same run time as The Order 1886. I was engrossed in the world that the game created. The voice acting and story were on point and the graphics, simply outstanding even by today's standards it's a looker. Ready at Dawn may have moved on but Sony owns the IP so there's hope that one day we may see a sequel. But this is Sony and they don't always work that way.
Kingdom Come Deliverance? Seriously!? I've just downloaded that ready to play next week, but it's massive and I definitely won't have time to finish it. Guess that'll be ANOTHER one I have to buy because it's been/being removed. I understand licensing, but surely they could give something like 3 month notices on games rather than 4 (and sometimes 3) weeks. I'm still not sold on purely subscription services and not sure I ever will be to be honest.
Selfishly, this means my Vita physical edition will decrease even more in value like it did with the PC release 😭 Selflessly though, happy that more people will finally get to play it 😁
Update to the trophy auto pop stuff: Whilst trophies do not auto pop, it appears some just need you to trigger the requirement again to unlock. For example, discovering 100 fast travel points. I'd already done this on PS4 (have the platinum on there) and upon playing on my save file from the PS4 to PS5, I had this trophy pop as soon as I discovered one new fast travel location in the DLC. The same goes for the trophy reading 30 books. I read just one and the trophy popped for that too.
Really hoping that save data from the PS4 version transfers over to the PS5. Purposely held off playing the DLCs (which are massive) in order to play them in this update when it was first announced 18 months ago.
I think people are forgetting the serious shortage of the parts needed not just for the PS5, but across pretty much most of the new tech being made right now, today and also the cost of those parts. Even a multi billion dollar company like Sony will feel that hit believe it or not. I'm not happy about it, don't get me wrong. This cost of living is leaving me nearly skint and the only thing I get enjoyment out of is my consoles, because I'm not affording a holiday any time soon. But I saw this coming and if people think other companies won't be following suit I think you're going to be in for a little shock down the road. Oculus started it, Sony won't be the last and end it, unfortunately.
By the time I get around (for me personally) to justifying the price for that extra space, the PS5 Slim will be out with 2tb of storage space included.
I don't get the anger that games in Extra are also in Essential. With Essential you're getting 3 games, that's it. With Extra you're getting hundreds. Think of Essential as a taster as to what you can get with Extra. If you're happy with Essential, great. Here's THREE games to play. If you want to taste and play several hundred more on top of these for a few extra quid, then welcome up Extra/Premium. For the record, I'm on Essential right now and will purchase Extra soon to play the likes of Returnal, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ghosts of Tshushima etc. The fact that some games will be included in Essential for when/if my subscription lapses one day still in my library to play is a bonus. This whole overlapping issue really isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned.
Just a note for anyone wondering about trophies on PS classic games (and possible PSP going forward) it's not a simple procedure adding them in as you can imagine and a Sony rep did say (somewhere, can't find it as of right now) that to add them in, most of the time is an average of two months to do so with testing in that etc. But they also stated that whilst they will attempt to add them into first party games, they can't be guaranteed for other Devs games. So I'm sure many games we had on PS Now will be getting the treatment as we speak.
@elhozzo You probably will do, but with it having no pricing yet it's most likely just a little something that needs addressing on their side. I was happy to see Resi Evil classic available for me in my library to download as I bought that years back on PS3. It's early on with all this so I'm sure the "majority" of our purchased games from yester-years will be added to our accounts.
I was fortunate to pick up an almost mint copy of the Deluxe Edition from a Cash Convertor for a ridiculous £1.99 just after the new year and it still has all it's DLC codes unused, haven't even played it yet in anticipation for this patch. Not played one since Black Flag as by that point I was burnt out by the series, even though BF was a brilliant game. Looking forward to finally playing this, I love the Egyptian setting.
I've often wondered, when they eventually turn the stores off on the PS3 and Vita, if they'll sever the connection to the trophy servers and players will no longer be able to earn trophies on those platforms, and I don't mean for multiplayer games but single player. They wouldn't be able to sync. Has Sony ever said anything on this?
So many people I know from back in the day that were Sony fans and loved their PSP's but refused to buy a Vita due to the insane cost of the memory cards. Just imagine where we'd be now if they'd have gone with a standard SD card instead. Undoubtedly that decision alone cost them lost millions in sales of the unit. Moving forward with the PS5 they learned the lesson and you aren't forced to buy a Sony SSD. We could be on a PS Vita 2 by now if only those sales had been like that of the PSP, or cards priced the same as the memory stick duos and allowing third parties to make them. The Vita is still such an amazing handheld to this day.
It's always going to be high because the Souls community will play it to death, so the number will be higher than expected. That said, I've got the platinum for this, and it's probably the easiest FromSoft platinum quite easily. Maybe hard for no Souls players, but for veterans, there's not much to fear in this one. Great game, just a lot easier than previous titles. Heck, they even keep buffing the weapons to make it easier.
I have used her about 3 times and have to be honest, she's been bloody useless for me. She does a little bit of damage but it's ultimately killed early on in boss fights. I haven't upgraded her though to be fair, but that said, my wolves and the skeletons have proved most valuable in boss encounters. The skeletons, even without upgrading, can be the catalyst to winning a fight if you need agro taking from you whilst you heal etc against quick enemy bosses. Both early game summons and two of the best in the entire game.
Sorry to be THAT guy, but I've zero interest in Harry Potter. I've seen the films, enjoyed them somewhat but that's it. But...BUT, this looks really really really good! Clearly not just Potter fans are going to enjoy this one.
Activision makes around 2-3 billion profit a year with nearly two thirds of that coming from PS players. To cut them off would be major bad for business and to even break even on this deal it would take them around 30 years. So do I think these games will still come to PS but with maybe a few extra DLC's bits staying with MS exclusive for those games? then yes.

Great news for CEX though, they'll be able to add another £100 onto the consoles now 👍🙄👍
