There’s a certain charm to the Capcom of the PS3 generation; a time when its releases were just as likely to land as they were to heavily miss. For every Devil May Cry 4 or Dragon’s Dogma, there was a Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City to set it back to square one. Nowadays, those extreme gulfs in quality have been reduced to single-point differences between high Metacritic ratings, as the publisher reaches new heights with its Resident Evil and Monster Hunter franchises. Its curiosity to create something a little more “out there” has never quite gone away, though, which is what has allowed it to lovingly restore a fan favourite from that same era where it couldn’t decide if it was hot or not.
Dead Rising helped define the early years of the Xbox 360, and despite three sequels in the 18 years since, it has remained a unique experience to this day. In an attempt to recapture that magic, the Deluxe Remaster works essentially as a one-to-one remake with vastly updated visuals, better controls, and many quality-of-life improvements to make photojournalist Frank West shine once more. The end result is an undead undertaking born out of love for the source text that works purely to make it sing all over again.
It’s faithful in every possible way, restoring the original story, premise, and structure in a PS5 setting on the RE Engine. Main character Frank West is a photojournalist investigating a story that’s brought him to Willamette. Having touched down via helicopter on top of the mall at the centre of town, he quickly discovers a zombie outbreak has taken over the place. Frank then has 72 hours until his rescue helicopter arrives, during which time he needs to piece together the story behind the epidemic.
What made Dead Rising different in 2006 — and still does to this day — is its commitment to that three-day timer. The game is actively counting down towards the rescue helicopter’s arrival at all times, and you can only do so much in the time given. Cases (the main story missions) take place at certain times, and if you’re not around to witness their events, the core narrative is lost and you fail to see the plot through to the end. There are survivors spread throughout the Willamette Parkview Mall that are revealed at specific hours, and they die if you don’t manage to make it to them in time. With a seamless New Game+ option letting you keep all the character progress you made, the hardcore mechanic justifies itself over repeat playthroughs as you decide what sort of things you want to accomplish for that particular run. It’s borderline impossible to do absolutely everything in one go, so it becomes a choice of what you fancy doing in the moment.
This time-sensitive structure remains the same in the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, though many upgrades and improvements make it a smoother process. The controls have been updated to allow weapon aiming while moving, and some inputs have been remapped to buttons that make more sense for the modern era. You can now skip ahead in time from any bathroom or save point if you don’t feel like waiting around for the next story beat, and an auto-save feature squashes the risk of losing hours of progress if you die. Since the original title relied entirely on manual saving — which could only be done at select locations throughout the mall — the Deluxe Remaster takes great strides in this regard to relieve frustration.
It does the same for survivor AI, which was far and away the most annoying thing in the original. Every living person you find can be escorted back to the Security Room, which acts as a little hub area for those still breathing. However, it was the torturous trek to get them there that sent blood pressures racing. They never did what you wanted them to do, always getting caught up in groups of zombies and making the journey a lot harder than it needs to be.
Capcom has mostly addressed the problem in the Deluxe Remaster with a general pass on AI that makes survivors more intuitive and reactive to their surroundings, and then expanded the system with new ways to upgrade them. Now, each survivor has a preferred weapon you can give them to make them more powerful, and a food/drink item that’ll heal them. Giving them these preferred items increases their affinity for Frank, which makes them more likely to defend other survivors if you’re rolling in a pack, find more items for you, and even point out PP Stickers. You still need to babysit them to a degree, guiding them along the path you wish to take back to the Security Room. However, the process is overall much, much smoother.
The survivors will also talk to you along the way, as voice acting has been expanded to every role in the game. Significant characters like Otis — who talks to you over the radio — now have a bit of personality to them, and at least every living, breathing person has something to offer instead of on-screen text.
Frank West himself always spoke in the original game, but one casualty of the Deluxe Remaster is the replacement of his original voice actor, Terence J. Rotolo. Honkai: Star Rail and Octopath Traveler II actor Jas Patrick takes the role in the PS5 re-release, and while his performance as Frank is more than acceptable, it doesn’t quite match the personality of Rotolo’s. The change results in a slight downgrade.
The visual overhaul is a welcome example of the opposite, though. The Deluxe Remaster makes the game actually look how you always thought it did through nostalgia-tinted glasses, with significant improvements across all character models, environments, and lighting effects. It’s the latter that actually proves the most impressive, as the late evening sun casts its rays over the mall rooftop as you’re escorting survivors to safety. Or, how Wonderland Plaza glows with its neon-lit rollercoaster in the centre. Overall, it can’t quite compare to other purpose-built PS5 titles, but the work Capcom has put in turns Dead Rising into a pleasing looker all over again.
It’s just slightly disappointing the developer has chosen not to rid the game of its load screens, which trigger whenever you enter a new section of the mall or the Leisure Park in the middle of it. While they’re now incredibly short on PS5 — lasting maybe a second most of the time — it would have been nice to see the location turned into one cohesive setting where you could freely wander from one plaza to the other. At least the load times are the equivalent of “blink and you’ll miss them”.
All these individual enhancements come together to form the definitive Dead Rising experience on PS5, but at its core, the best thing about the Deluxe Remaster is it still is Dead Rising. Even without the graphical and gameplay improvements, the Capcom title remains a fantastic experience. Bringing it back almost two decades later, the game’s commitment to time management and how you reckon with that is still its greatest asset, but now it all looks and plays so much better. With extra content cut during development now restored, like the rocket launcher, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster sells itself short: this is a stellar remake, not just any old graphical rebuild.
Conclusion
A substantial visual overhaul of Dead Rising is what will immediately stand out most, but where the Deluxe Remaster truly thrives is in all its gameplay touch-ups to make the classic play and feel like any other modern game. They all build to the definitive Dead Rising experience, where its time management feature can be properly appreciated.

Thanks for the review, Liam. Glad this got a really high score. I wasn’t expecting less, but it’s good regardless. I feel in the minority of those who are just happy there’s a DR game at all. CV shutting down really felt like a death sentence. I’ll be picking this up later this evening (via a pre-order) and enjoy it when it’s out. Good day.
Speaking of zombies, are you guys not reviewing or covering Lollipop Chainsaw?
Looking forward to this, even if some of the changes I feel are unwarranted. If they can do this for Dead Rising 2 along with Case 0 and West, I'll be happy. Or just give me something new, just keep to the first two games' formula Capcom, please.
@AinsleyE that’s what I’m really hoping for next, as a huge fan of DR2 and its DLC episodes.
"It’s faithful in every possible way"--except for the silly censorship that wasn't deemed necessary even a few short years ago when this was previously re-released.
And before all the other replies start pointing out why people shouldn't care about the censorship, no one's saying these details ruin the entire game. The point is that this constant morality policing and cowardice is getting very old.
If video games are art, they should be treated that way, and not reshaped at the drop of a hat to conform to the current moment's latest progressive values.
@Troubbble On the flip side, one could argue that calling anything and everything "censorship" is getting old.
@Icey664 Unfortunately we didn't get early access (no site did).
Anything interesting done with the Dualsense here or is it subtle?
I watched a rather comprehensive video of all the changes from someone who was clearly passionate about the original release and it seems that all these little changes and edits do add up. The casual fan who just wants to mindlessly murder zombies in a mall won't notice but for those with love for the original release, just play that one on PC and install some mods to update the experience (it'll be cheaper too!!)
@naruball I was really confused by the comment. I’ve been following this game’s development as closely as possible, and nothing really stood out as “censorship” (believe me, I would’ve noticed it by now). So whatever that’s being called out here has to be so extremely minor that you need to be over-sensitive to care about it so deeply.
@Yousef- It's because of this...
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/08/dead-risings-ps5-remaster-will-strip-bonus-points-for-erotic-photos
@Yousef- If what was removed was so minor, it makes me wonder why they felt so strongly about it that it needed to be removed.
@naruball I'm not sure what else it should be called other than censorship. If The Godfather was re-released in theaters with an "offensive" line of dialogue removed or a nude scene edited out, that's what it would rightfully be called. Maybe what you meant to say is "I'm happy with censorship as long as it reflects my personal values."
Was it really that hard/expensive to get the old voice actor back? Really, guys? What a shame. Glad I found a physical copy of the original for PS4 in Hong Kong, just 6 quid too - what a steal.
The OG Frank West voice is still so good. Iconic even.
I'm still really excited for this, I always had a soft spot for the original Dead Rising.
Thanks for the review. I'll get this game close to the end of the year but I'm really looking forward to play it.
Thanks for the review. I will grab this game in a sale and save every single soul possible, again ^^
@Khwarezm89 hope you have fun. It’s a fantastic game.
@Yousef- Thank you. I only played DR4 and I had a lot of fun with it. Guess it's time to revisit the series.
Thanks for the review. Will play this as soon as I have the time.
I guess I'll just buy the Triple Pack on Xbox.
@Lup worth it for sure. All fun games.
@Troubbble What's different and "silly" about this version?
Genuine question as I never played the original (outside of playing it at a friend's circa 2006 and being unable to read the text on his CRT).
@MrPeanutbutterz Read the article I linked on answer #11
@get2sammyb
Huh... that's odd. It's true, it's just sort of came out and no one covered it. I guess there is no conspiracy around it like some content creators are trying to fabricate lol! Well thanks for letting me know!
Even though I played through the original back on release, I'm not a DR purist, so these quality of life changes are all good with me.
As for the removal of pervy photography, like, so what? It was kinda creepy then and it's creepy now. Does photographing digital cleavages really mean that much to people??
Can't wait to try this out on Xbox. I still remember buying the original version day one for the 360, what a game.
@DeepEyes This is indeed censorship and it only gets worse the more people excuse it.
Allowing the censoring of 'small' detail opens the door to larger, more troubling censorship.
@Troubbble That's why I'm deciding on getting the original version over the remake. Call me dumb but I just can't accept censorship like that and especially when it ruins a certain character's backstory.
@Yousef- You certainly haven't been following it closely enough then. Look up how they changed Cliff.
@Troubbble It's a minor part of the game and its mechanics, and it was removed because it caters to horny dorks who don't have healthy relationships with women and only see them as sex objects.
Goodbye and good riddance to this sort of trash.
@DeepEyes So they removed the sexist trash. Good.
@JB_Whiting No, not really. That's not the point.
The point is that it changes the original work to placate someone and cater to their views. That shouldn't happen.
Remaster the visuals and refine what needs refining technically, but removing gameplay goes too far.
@MrPeanutbutterz nothing is “silly” about it. I think some people are overreacting a bit. It’s just a remake that does its own thing. Nothing wrong with that, as a fan of the original.
On a personal note, the remake is worth it alone for the Lan Hikari outfit. Genius comedy.
It wasn't just the photo mode that was censored, but I understand why people prefer to put the emphasis on that rather than the notable line of dialogue that was changed. It makes it easier to smear anyone who's anti-censorship as a creep.
@Troubbble So what notable line of dialogue was changed?
There's also a big difference between "anti-censorship" and "objectifying women for the jollies and cheap titillation of dorks is a bit ***** cringe and has no place in 2024 and I'd rather not have that in my videogames".
I am staunchly anti-censorship. And you know what, this sort of stuff isn't censorship. It's removing garbage that shouldn't have been there to begin with, that's all. Calling this sort of inane, inconsequential nonsense "censorship" makes a mockery of actual censorship and people who have to live under the yoke of it.
@Troubbble no it wouldn't. If they were to remove a nude scene to get a lower rating to appeal to a wider audience, no one would be censoring them. It'd be a decision they'd make on their own.
Censorship is a serious matter. Just like the r word used by people when they think someone looks at them weird ("he **** me with his eyes") and equating it with the serious act of r...e, calling this "censorship" is an insult to the real censorship people in places like China and Russia face, when making a joke can land you in jail or even cost your life. I've been told by Russian friends that stand up comedy is dead, because every joke needs to be approved of by a certain committee or the performer can be in serious trouble. Same with wearing yellow and blue in public.
If you want to experience the original work of art as intended, don't play this version, it's messing with the original art by making it look nicer. Like really? The voice actor is different too, more "censorship" oh no!
If i was to remake Only Fools and Horses, the old TV show, I would remove all the racist words used in the earlier seasons. Times move on, so should we.
This review is pretty much exactly what I expect I'll feel about it, so that's good.
@Yousef- Ah, I was quoting the other guy who said it was "silly".
That outfit is indeed majestic lol.
I won’t be getting it due to the (to me) significant and uncalled for changes. Hope others enjoy it though, I’ll stick with my happy memories of the original game.
What this game is all about? Endlessly killing zombies only? Never play the original one. But zombie type of game make me bored fast, well except resident evil game.
@KeenAerondight "The point is that it changes the original work to placate someone and cater to their views. That shouldn't happen."
It was changed to uh, checks notes remove the gross objectification of women and that shouldn't happen?
Interesting opinion.
Freedom fighters beware, censorship! Lmao
Anyways, was really looking forward to the original but found that it had some broken mechanics. Hope this makeover has successfully fixed those issues.
@Troubbble
Censorship is a no-buy from me.
No siree! 😊
I've seen people mention that this is the ugliest game on this engine by far
@MrPeanutbutterz I totally respect that everyone has their own perspective and many people could find "objectification of women" distasteful. You have every right to feel that way.
Personally, I've played through this game two full times (minimum) over the years and never purposefully engaged with that feature of the game.
The truth is, though, that many people--men and women alike--would not be offended by this content or consider it a serious affront against women. Others might take it as something tongue-in-cheek and silly, and be amused by it.
Your insistence that it be treated as offensive "garbage" just because that's the way you personally feel is not only censorship, it's indistinguishable from the type of censorship we've seen in the past from the religious right-wing. But I'm guessing if the personal taste of right-wing people was the prevailing influence on culture, you might recognize the problem a little more easily then.
Really enjoyed this back on the 360, the new voice does work for me but I’ll get used to it.
This is one of those nice threads to add people to ignore list... "I'm anti censorship but let me censor you because your view doesnt align with mine!"
@MrPeanutbutterz The notable line of dialogue that was edited is a (minor) spoiler, but it was based on a reference to communism.
@Icey664 You have Stellar Blade in your profile pic. You know why they aren't reviewing Lollipop Chainsaw. >.<
@Troubbble Me - thinks objectifying women (for no reason other than cheap titillation) is gross and doesn't belong in a videogame (and the people who developed this port clearly agree because they've removed it).
You - "that's the same sort of censorship you get from the religious right wingers!!!!1!".
Something tells me you have no concept of what censorship actually is.
@MrPeanutbutterz I tried to have a good faith discussion with you, but since you clearly can't appreciate the point, I'll let you have the last word. Cheers.
Removed - flaming/arguing
@MrPeanutbutterz Here's the dictionary definition of the word for you, with some redundant ones removed, since it actually seems like you're the one who doesn't understand what it means.
censorship /sĕn′sər-shĭp″/
noun
Prevention of disturbing or painful thoughts or feelings from reaching consciousness except in a disguised form.
The use of state or group power to control freedom of expression, such as passing laws to prevent media from being published or propagated.
Deleting parts of publications or correspondence or theatrical performances.
@Troubbble Its not censorship because the remake was designed not to include it from the start. Censorship would be them having it then removing it or removing it from the original. The game has autosave now so censorship by your logic.
God i hate this current trend of not understanding what words mean and using them incorrectly on everything.
Yeah got the game already downloaded and waiting. Hopefully it sells well and we get a DR5.
@Troubbble "If video games are art, they should be treated that way, and not reshaped at the drop of a hat to conform to the current moment's latest progressive values.
......
"Personally, I've played through this game two full times (minimum) over the years and never purposefully engaged with that feature of the game."
So like, why do you care? Why are you voicing your stance on censorship so staunchly if, at the end of the day, you don't actually really care that much?
Look, if people are happy to see certain things get censored, I have no expectation of changing the way that they feel.
With that being said, it takes a truly wild inversion of logic to claim that this isn't censorship, or that people are "over-sensitive" for noticing and commenting on the changes, but not for insisting on changes or applauding them.
@JB_Whiting So like, why do you care? Why are you voicing your stance against him so staunchly if, at the end of the day, what he thinks doesnt change your perception of the game?
@JB_Whiting Why do I care? Because it's based on principle, because this is just one example of a pervasive and bothersome trend, and because I've been around long enough to understand that it's not always your "team" in charge of what gets censored.
Three reasons off the top of my head.
There's also the fact that, like I mentioned before, a specific line of dialogue (if not multiple) has also been censored for reasons that have nothing to do with the removal of the photo mode feature. But everybody keeps focusing on that aspect because it's something easier to make into a mockery.
@DennisReynolds absolutely. I think this will be a great opportunity to revitalize the series. Excited to download this.
@DennisReynolds Your appreciation is right if this was a new game or a completely new game in the saga, but as you said this is a remake and it takes nearly all of the original game (is not like the FF7 remake that changed nearly everything), if people were complaining because they took out a feature of the first game in the new iteration of the DR saga then your argument could be valid.
God i hate this current trend of not understanding what words mean and using them incorrectly on everything.
Is it censorship if the creator chooses not to include content from the original in the remake? I would argue no. Especially, if that removal is to avoid pushback from part of your audience. This was a calculated business decision, not censorship. The original and remaster are uncensored and still available. The remake does not match the studios current values and business climate. They calculated higher sales by removal of small amounts of content. That’s just good business, especially if sales are high and they can avoid the constant articles about how problematic parts of the game are.
I am excited for this game and will buy once I get through the games I am currently playing. Loved the original!
@Troubbble Deadpool & Wolverine had no nudity so censorship. This remake was designed to not have certain features from the off, its not censorship because nothing in the game has been removed or changed to meet demands of others. Censorship would be the photo mode thing being there and then Sony or someone saying we don't want that included and then Capcom removing it. Censorship would be Capcom going back to the original game and removing and changing things to meet demands. The remake though has been designed and released exactly the way Capcom wanted from the off. Its not censored because nothing was censored.
@DeepEyes Its a remake not a remaster. Adding and removing things for a remake is par the course. Peter Jackson's King Kong is a remake and deaths that are in the original don't feature in his version so censorship i guess.
@DennisReynolds Yeah, its the same lol
Removed - trolling/baiting
@Troubbble But nobody told them they had to censored it for Western audience, they internally in their home land of Japan choose to change a couple of things.
It's their game to change what they feel like, if they changed all the zombies into naked strippers it would again be their choice and us Westerners get to accept it or move on.
@DeepEyes Tell me bright eyes in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster what did Capcom have to remove for censorship that Deluxe Remaster had originally? What did Deluxe Remaster have and was then removed for censorship reasons? Please tell me.
I always liked Dead Rising and the setting is one of the best for a zombie game. Screenshots look like a big improvement. I will pick it up when the PS5 physical copy releases on November 8th.
The big thing is that this is supposed to be a remaster, not a remake. A remaster should have minimal changes (whether they personally offend you or not) From lines of dialogue being changed (one guy calling Frank a commie) to the VAs being swapped out. Even rewriting Frank to be less of a sleazeball, despite that being how his character was meant to be. He wasn't an action hero, he was a scumbag put in a crappy situation that eventually decides to do the right thing for once.
Everyone seems to be focusing on the photography thing as the one big thing (which is how this always works. Everyone always targets the one thing that best lines up with their preconceived notions) but in reality the photography is just one slice of a big cake of changes. Does it REALLY matter in the end? I don't even consider it "censorship", it's just a pointless change that only a few people would have cared about if it was still in. Same as how only a few people really care that it was taken out.
@lostlaserdroid Man your profile pic just bought me some serious nostalgia, I wish we could get one of the ISS games (playstation 1 versions) on PSN in some way, even the very barebones one I had that I played to death years ago.
As for this game, never been much of a fan due to the constant time limit, which suits the game and theme but not me. On the topic of "censorship" which I see has appeared again relating yet again to something to do with pervy images of women, I see a non-issue. We've had censored games for years over here. I mean DOOM and of course Wolfenstein was censored in Germany 30 years to "appease" the government to allow it to be released, Resident Evil Code Veronica has no decaps, even in Japan itself games are censored and even censor their own dirty films.
Like someone else said, it's not real censorship as in the removal of important information from the public eye or changing the course of events through propaganda or the deletion of another's words that go against the rhetoric. It's always the alteration of either violence or sexual content, the latter which has no bearing on the game at all and I see no reason personally to be upset about not being able to see up skirts etc.
May be just me though...
@Troubbble I'm referring to the fact that you (and I quote) said "Your insistence that it be treated as offensive "garbage" just because that's the way you personally feel is not only censorship, it's indistinguishable from the type of censorship we've seen in the past from the religious right-wing." because they've removed the objectification of women.
@naruball yup. Especially when the same folks contort into pretzels doing mental gymnastics to defend actual censorship from the publishers of Wukong.
Hated the time limit in the original game but I did get entertained going around beating people to a pulp with a Lawnmower and various other means. Still though this being said I think I'll wait for a Sale.
@Troubbble I agree it’s best to leave things in their original state. With these remakes/remasters I think they should either stay true to the original or if they feel so strongly then have the option to play the ‘new version’ but always retain the original. Personally I don’t like the way they take things out, it’s like they are sort of erasing history.
The ruined the star wars movies with this and now it’s difficult to normally access and watch the originals.
Back to gaming recent examples also include in the new Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection they removed the Twin Towers in the punisher game. They were in a background of a 16bit cutscene and now they’ve been erased from the game completely it’s like they don’t want to make reference or don’t want you to remember they previously existed. Street fighter 2 has been censored too over the years.
I get people are more sensitive these days but all these examples are how things were at the time and rightly or wrongly what you think of them, I don’t think they should be erased and forgotten, preservation is key.
@Stale-Bread
We don't usually get old sports games such as ISS re-released due to many reasons. I remember playing them like it was yesterday. Great times. Now there's no football games I would give time to. The fun has gone from them imo.
As for Dead Rising, I know what you mean about the time limits in games - they can be a put off for some.
I would have preferred the original voice actor. I care more about that than some of the other issues brought up about this game.
The most important thing for me is that the game is fun and I think this version will be.
Looking forward to November.
@MrPeanutbutterz oh man, that was the reason I couldn't play this game! I remember trying to play it on my crt and couldn't read a damn thing and gave right up!
i don't buy games as much these days , but i already bought and preloaded it , can't wait to play it , this was one of my favorite games
@GameRiff Huh? What do you mean?
Maybe it´s just me but I´ve always disliked games where your "weapons" break after a few hits. It just makes me search for permanent weapons or cheat them into the game.
Also, I wish someone would make a Dead Rising set in feudal Japan. Imagine cutting through swathes of zombies with a japanium blade that´s been folded a million times. It would be glorious.
Where are all my games with crazy dismemberment physics anyway? It´s 2024 and I still can´t chop peoples arms off without them instantly dying in most games, what the hell?
@jrt87 Sounds great. There´s plenty of cool characters in the series that could do with some more screen time. I loved the fact that Mine generally got such a big role in Ishin and that they replaced some literal who´s with random characters from 0 and 7 in the remake.
Hell I´d love to see some Judgement characters get a chance for a cross over
So the stupid timer is still there, okay... I will give it a try once more, but I left the original game unfinished because of it.
Removed - unconstructive feedback
This or dead island 2? I'm itching for a zombie game.
@zebric21 I've never played Dead Rising but I can tell you that Dead Island 2 is awesome. If you want a great zombie game with the added mobility of parkour, both Dying Light games are incredible. The full version of the first Dying Light (with The Following add-on) it's an absolutely incredible game that I've spent hundreds of hours in, and you could probably get it for 20 or 30 bucks now. Just as good as the sequel if not better in some ways.
@DennisReynolds Dude, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
This is an MT Framework to RE Engine game, as in they took the original completed game and ported from the old MT Framework to the new RE Engine, and they worked on it from there.
This means everything they removed was in the game at the start of the project. This is one of those weird "Remakester" games, where the changes are extensive to the point of being on-par with a remake, but it was built off the top of the original game like a remaster is.
Now I don't particularly mind the changes, the erotica stuff of just not rewarding you for perving anymore but still allowing you to take those pictures if you want is fine. The stuff that's blatantly changed just for the chinese market isn't quite as good considering they could just do a separate version for there. Saying this stuff wasn't there to begin with as a justification is just plain false though, it was there and it was removed.
@Game2590 I will repeat the question i asked the other guy who refused to anwser.
"Tell me bright in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster what did Capcom have to remove for censorship that Deluxe Remaster had originally? What did Deluxe Remaster have and was then removed for censorship reasons? Please tell me."
@DennisReynolds So you've been chiming in about this without knowing a single thing about it?
The Erotica category for photos and quests involving the category, that category has now been removed and related quests have been changed to something else to compensate.
Cheryls clothes have been changed to be less revealing.
They've removed lines that mention communism.
There's other things you can look up but that's three related to what I brought up in my original comment. Now to reiterate, as this game began with a port of the game from MT to RE, these things were in the game at the start and were since removed during development.
As I said I don't particularly mind these for the reasons I said in my original comment, but to say they weren't part of the game from the start as you did is objectively wrong, they were there and then they were removed/changed. This wasn't a ground up remake, it's a port with some extra effort.
@Game2590 Those things were never part of Deluxe Remaster and never were going to be so that's a wrong answer. What features were removed from Deluxe Remaster because of censorship? Not talking about the original game here i'm talking about Deluxe Remaster.
Removed - flaming/arguing
@DennisReynolds Not entirely sure how pointing out that someone is willfully ignoring what's being said is "flaming/arguing" but I'll say it again...
Deluxe Remaster IS the original game, it was ported from MT to RE, all those things were there at the start and then removed later on once they decided to get rid of them for being inappropriate. The devs even said they discussed keeping or removing them at length and then decided to remove them, not decided to not add them, remove them.
Saying they were never a part of it is objectively wrong, they were in the game because it is the original game at it's core, and removed later on in development.
This isn't a ground up remake where those things never existed, it's a port with extra work put in to it, some of that work involved removing stuff that was already there and fully functioning, all that stuff HAS been removed, that is objective fact.
@Game2590 Ok i will reword the question. What features that were planned for Deluxe Remaster but were then removed because of censorship? I will give you the answer nothing as the game is exactly the way they wanted it to be. You say its the "same game" so by your logic Frank's redesign, his voice change and a change in art style is censorship then? Any change or removal is censorship in remasters/remakes it seems.
Apparently this title was an Xbox360 system seller back in 2006. I had that console but never gave this game any thought. A physical release is set for 8 Nov for those wanting that. Maybe, I should give this a go. Shame, Capcom didn't do a remake instead.
Preordered the digital deluxe version and it’s installed ready to go when I get home tonight.
I can’t wait. I absolutely love the Dead Rising series.
I wouldn't consider load screens between plazas a con personally. A good bit of the game is designed around the areas being seperated, events can initiate or not depending on if you're loaded in at particular times, and imagine the convicts being able to shoot at you while you're in Paradise Plaza.
I watched a comparison video on YouTube where it put the original alongside the Remaster and granted there were some differences but certainly not enough to pay almost full Price for it.
For now I'll stick with the original game as I always enjoyed it even if I did find the time limit annoying.
Great to see success from simple old school fun.
For those on the fence, and with at least a potato PC, the 2016 remake can be had for about £3 (yup really) - just go to your fave digital keys site - all above board.
