I don’t get the hate. We just got Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War next month and most likely Halo next year. Crying about a game going to Xbox that is online only (which will grow its player base) seems petulant.

This could be signalling that upgrade patches are imminent, but most likely it’s just greed.

I’m sure the sales will dramatically increase with the inevitable Switch 2 port.

This would be cool, but I’d rather have an enhanced 60fps port of Red Dead Redemption 2.

I’m guessing early November, or a delay.

Not going to lie. If this news is accurate, I just lost a lot of faith in Sony. What an absolute disaster. Where do they think people are going to find the time to play these endless crappy live service games? To waste half your internal development on this crap is a kick in the teeth to long term fans. Need to do some major reorganization of this management team.

These clowns should spend more time actually playing games, and less time crying about them on the internet.

I think the game looks great. So exciting to see a new IP from Naughty Dog. I’m learning to just ignore the perpetual losers who live on Twitter. The grifters on there are the most unserious people imaginable, led by their loser overlord Elon Musk.

Anyways, game looks really good. The first one was really well done, and it will be interesting to see what creative ideas they will implement with the new mechanics.

Day after day, reading about layoff after layoff has brought me to two conclusions.

1) Corporate greed, and the requirement of infinite growth, are going to be the downfall of the industry. (And society eventually) When is enough going to be enough?

2) We have to face reality, that the children of today are not the same as the children of previous console generations. I’m 40 plus years old, and watching my kid’s gaming habits reinforces why there is such a shift in the industry. Everything is either Fortnite or Minecraft. They don’t even ask for games at Christmas, just digital currency. It’s sad. 3-4 games dominate a majority of the industry, and the hardcore gamers cannot sustain the profits these corporations are expecting

Within 5 years, the only video games that are going to exist will be Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Grand Theft Auto

@Steel76 100% agree. I feel gaming peaked during the ps3/360 era. You got whole trilogies in one console generation, with tight stories and playtime. Now games are full of boring bloat, so they can advertise that they offer 60-80 hours of playtime

@LifeGirl Sora’s mom was in between a heartless and a nobody. She was a somebody. She spoke to Sora from another dimension outside his bedroom door before her heart was split into 4 different pieces and scattered across the universe. You would have learned this if you collected all 100 pieces of Bambi droppings from the Atari Lynx spin off game and saw the secret ending. All joking aside, there are some major plot holes, but I still love playing these games.

@ChakaL00T The IGN preview breaks down the story mode difficulty. Sounds like the game replaces some of the timing cues with quick time events.

@TwoDents Agreed. I have this game preordered, and am also a huge fan of Last of Us 2, Horizon etc. I’m just sick of listening to this (Elon Musk boosted) rhetoric. No different than the screeching about the female road to the show mode in MLB The Show. It doesn’t hurt anyone by putting it in there

I personally don’t see the big deal, and I’m as left leaning as they come. There is room in gaming for all types of character designs. I’ve been gaming since the 1980s and have had just as much fun with over the top Japanese games as I have with games such as Last of Us 2. The complaining about this character and game is just as irritating as the ridiculous “anti-woke” people complaining about Horizon, Last of Us 2 and Spider Man 2

@thedevilsjester I agree. This could be more than just an issue with API costs. It could be about brand image. The fact that new owner Elon spends all his time courting the most vile people imaginable on that platform may also have something to do with it

I just don’t see it happening in a playable form (cutscene viewer maybe?) but am hoping to be pleasantly surprised

After a boss fight, my system turned off. Never had that happen before with any other game. System is a launch model

@MikeOrator As a fellow Canadian, I agree with this. We’re becoming as bad as the USA. Riddled with bigotry and conspiracy theories. The ridiculous outrage over Spider Man 2 is further proof. Being a right winger must be exhausting, looking for the latest outrage/boycott to complain about

I miss the good old ps3/360 days. Before the expectation that every game had to be a AAA 50-60 hour, bloated, open world, live service. I’ve been gaming since the 80s and watching all these layoffs is really making me think that the current marketing trends are not sustainable. Part of it is the developers, but part of it is the current community, who crucify every game that doesn’t meet their idea of an ideal “game length”. Expectations weren’t like this before.
