Re: PS6 May Go Uncontested as Rumours of Next-Gen Xbox Cancellation Spiral

NitrousX

At this point "this goes against what MS said previously" should not even be considered a viable argument(thinking of Phil boldly shouting "Indiana Jones etc. is not coming to PS"). They have clearly lost direction (if there ever was one). The big asterisk for me in this case, was the rumored Gamepass/Steam device, but I can easily see how this can be outsourced to a third-party manufacturer, and MS not even bother stamping the big green X on it(or if their approval would be needed tbh). Sad day for gaming if this is true, but can't say I would be shocked if it does. Now I just sit and observe the incoming avalanche of "Noooo, Xbox is fine, great, they are just playing mega 4-5D Chess, you so stuuupid, xbox so good and gamepass super ok, profitable and nice to the entire planet". Will not miss those who were desperate to be part of the problem, and not the solution and viewed it as "loyalty" tbh.

Re: PS Stars Program Marks Its Eventual Shut Down with One Last Collectible

NitrousX

Tells you a lot about how popular the service was when this entire topic got derailed into arguing about trophy hunting with rando internet edgelords...

I for once will miss the service. Managed to snatch my last redeemable points with DS2 pre-order - I got a total of 55$ out of it through these 3 years (also I've always been level 4 which helped with this internal validation I've been chasing all my life ). But the system was poorly implemented. As @Bramble wrote, I believe this was a remnant from some NFT BS that Sony planned but got quite the backlash for. Never cared about the collectibles, like in what scenario am I going to whip out my phone and show my "digital shelf" to someone (apart for edginess and self validation of course). I have big doubts that Sony will re-attempt a new similar program - everyone is getting quite greedy nowadays and the main mantra currently seems to be "If Nintendo can screw over their customers and remove rewards, so can we!". Hope I am wrong though, the occasional cashback was indeed nice...

Re: Death Stranding 2 (PS5) - A Masterpiece in Every Sense

NitrousX

@LogicStrikesAgain Yup, very eloquently put sir. I think as I am getting older, I went from finding such interesting behavior from frustrating to amusing, like people absolutely needing to inform others how much this thing they enjoy is garbage and it sucks, and it's for people who think they're smart but actually they're "pretenshios and stoopit", and "brothers" (seriously is Hulkmania having a revival? ) shoutong from the corner "you go tell them fancy city folk Jim!" while elegantly chugging Pabst Blue Ribbon

Clearly joking aside, I can easily see how DS is a very divisive game, obviously not for everyone, and definitely won't judge anyone for not liking it. I am more perplexed about people who call Kojima/the reviewers/the fans "full of themselves" while viewing their own opinion as the ultimate subjective truth (a bit hypocritical if you ask me). Like I personally think Hollow Knight is perfectly competent but overrated metroidvania, but I don't see myself going to a Silksong pre-release review to proclaim this as undisputable and also sh*t talk the sequel. Anyway, people will be people, nothing further for me to add. As I said what a fascinating behavior, I will go get my binoculars...

Re: Death Stranding 2 (PS5) - A Masterpiece in Every Sense

NitrousX

Oh my, this comment section really turned into absolute magnet for edgelords and "hot takes" bros. Don't worry guys ActiBlizz will soon opens cheeks and the "duty" will flow again (I do not include the people who in an intelligent or at least grown-up way voiced criticism or disliked the game - not everyone's cup of tea and that is absolutely fine).

Anyway just per-installed, looking forward to another weird, cerebral, emotional WTF of a game (blasting Woodkid now)! Hope all who enjoy it have a great time, and all who don't - so many games still left to look forward to!

Re: Death Stranding 2 (PS5) - A Masterpiece in Every Sense

@Darude84 Hey buddy what a coincidence, I just finished RE4 yesterday and was planning to directly jump into DS2

This is probably my most anticipated game of the year - thank you for the review Liam! I already see that it is not for everyone, with basically the same type of negative comments as the first game - "How is this of such high production and it is not CoD/AC/my yearly high budged yet low effort release". Like it is ironic how people want Kojima to get his head out of wherever, but they themselves are boxed in the belief that big budget/production quality/actors etc. should equal scheduled mainstream regurgitated slop. Interestingly so, this time without even touching the game first For me what made the first game great is exactly that it looked amazing and was very experimental(almost indie-like) in gameplay. Each to his own I guess, place for everyone under the gaming sun

Re: FBC: Firebreak (PS5) - PS Plus Shooter Proves Remedy Should Have Stayed in Its Lane

NitrousX

@Northern_munkey I am a really big fan of the entire Remedyverse (everything is a verse now), played all the Wake's, QB and Control and I am not sure this is "aimed" at such fans... Even if you are aware of all the lore and story (I basically was obsessing over Control and AW2's world and story telling) what is here is very shallow, and definitely fails at environmental story telling (something which Control effing nailed) or pushing the narrative an inch further. The game throws some winks and uses the same lingo as Control, but overall in my opinion this is an absolute let down of what one would expect with Remedy.

Of note - I was actually excited about this game, and purposely tried it before reading any reviews. This one is spot on - gunplay is good, runs well, overall - not much meat on the bones from both gameplay variety and lore/story prespective(on average the game seems to be reviewing mid to low 60's). But of course, do not mean to rain on your parade - if you end up liking it, go for it! But it feels way more tailored for the MP "flavor of the month" crowd rather than Control/AW fans...

Re: FBC: Firebreak (PS5) - PS Plus Shooter Proves Remedy Should Have Stayed in Its Lane

NitrousX

Tried it out yesterday... Could not matchmake on the first job (which is the only one unlocked until you beat it at certain level) at all (waited several minutes, cross play enabled, and could not convince any friends to try it together)... Eventually tried quick play. The tutorial system (or lack of it) is terrible, so me and a the poor soul that we played together with ran around aimlessly trying to figure out what the hell were we supposed to do. It also has bugs from the Control era (had the "press R1 to throw grenade" tooltip stuck on my screen even after I threw the damn thing several times)... Ended up closing the game after less than an hour, and felt my time was utterly wasted... Might come back to it at some point to see if more players are in for the damn matchmaking to actually work.

As a HUGE fan of Remedy, I am equally hugely disappointed.

Re: The Order: 1886 Honoured in Today's New Astro Bot PS5 Level

NitrousX

@PerpetualBoredom Ugh, a bit of pointy comment there friend... Apart from what the other folks here explained (the VIP bots being one of the "main draws" of the game, apart from stellar gameplay of course), have you considered the exact opposite point:

Imagine you're "touching too much grass" (as in work, family etc.), and have very limited time per week to play, and then someone comes and spoils that precious little time you have... Because you came to their website to read news not spoilers and generate them add revenue in the process... So I hope this clarifies my outburst.

Maybe don't be so quick to judge next time, just food for thought

Re: The Order: 1886 Honoured in Today's New Astro Bot PS5 Level

NitrousX

Be me... Wake up today "Oh the new Astro level is out! Should go check out the new bot. But let's see some PS news first." Goes to this site and gets spoiled(also The Order is a personal favourite of mine) in the frigging title of the article while scrolling... Seriously what sort of d*****t writes the title like that?

Re: Alan Wake 2 PS5 Update Reins in the Jump Scares, Makes Trophy Hunting Easier

NitrousX

The full update log is like 3 pages long, new improvements for haptics, improvements in UI, new "accessibility options" (jumpscare switch)... and still no option to invert the horizontal camera, so I still can't play one of my most anticipated games in the past 2 years or so... Why the f*ck would Remedy omit such a simple feature that is present in all of their older games?!

Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Announcement Gets Slaughtered by Fans

NitrousX

@Max_the_German

Well they clearly say they base their statement on the (lack of any adittional) informaiton directly from Rockstar's press release. Youtube videos do not necessarily reflect ingame preformance/resolution, and even if it did run in 4k 30fps - this is how the game already runs on Xbox Series X consoles in BC, so yeah pretty much nothing new... well several new subtitle and system menu languages, so there's that I guess. Are they worth between 30-40 EUR to somehow explain this price, not so sure.

Edit: BTW It would be hilarious if the Xbox versions do not get the adittional languages as a patch, so PS and Switch still have "the most difinitive version" of them all... OK I change my mind, 50$ seems like a steal now

Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal

NitrousX

@Th3solution Yeah, Phil is the cool uncle who takes them on fishing trips and tells jokes around the campfire, and Jim is the nasty neighbour who plays loud ethnic music till 3AM and keyed their car this morning!

Jokes aside, its almost baffling to see people making the argument that "business is business, and sometimes does anti-consumer stuff" and their in next comment (or sometimes within the same comment) write things like "but not the business I like, they just want to make gaming more fair/accessible for gamers, and give away free puppies!". This goes for both sides. Trust me, neither Phil Spencer nor Jim Ryan goes to bed and shines like the cutest rom-com smile before falling asleep thinking of you (Nigel!). Stop the cognitive dissonance already, profit is what ultimately drives both companies, and they will play their hands however they can to get it (yes, even at your expense, shocking as it may sound).

Re: Hands On: The Expanse: A Telltale Series PS5, PS4 Gets Off to a Strong Start

NitrousX

I bought the digital delux edittion (since it will have a bonus episode with the queen bitch of the universe Avisarala ), and I have mixed feelings. The new graphics style really does not click with me, the old games looked like cartoon - sure, but at least they were obviously intended to do so and executed well. This art style seems like a mix of cartoon and some pseudo-realism, and I just find myself stuck in the uncanny valley. Also I like to explore every nook and cranny for additional collectibles, dialogue etc. and even with that effort in the episode clocked barely over an hour. The story seems OK, but it essentially ends on what I would expect to be a mid-point in a Telltale episode. Makes me a bit concerned how long the rest of it is, also how long The Wolf Among Us Season 2 is going to be, and how will it look like now that they've changed the engine.

Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal

NitrousX

My, my, what a bunch of MBAs and seasoned market analysts we have here.

So let me get this argument - It is OK for MS to outright buy anyone (including major publishers), since they are the underdog SPECIFICALLY in the conslole space... OK! Did they made those 69 billion in the console space as disposable cash? Or are they simply shoveling ***** ton of money from other venues (in a lot of which they are the monopolist) in order to buy themselves into the market? Such an underdog behaviour! Cause we know the Playstation division is by far the most profitable in Sony, so they acutally spent money they made. And senior MS figures have said that at least now ("short term") GP is not profitable and is a loss leader essentially. And they're selling notably less consoles?

The charm of the "underdog" team comes from supporting them, seeing them get better at the game, build a better team, play better and ultimately win. Not so much in watching one of the players´ tycoon daddy(parent company) buying the league and giving them the trophy.

And no the consumer does not win in the end, this is no longer "classical" capitalism. It used to be - two tomato comapnies are competing, they make better tomatoes or deals - the better company and consumer wins. Now it's two tomato companies are competing, but company B has made a fortune selling letuce, so they shovel money to cover losses, corner the tomatoes market with buyouts, and in the end the consumer ends with ***** tomatoes, since there are no other vendors on the market left (this is what buying someone out of business leads to). And there is no incentive to do better to the consumer anymore. I know some of you are looking at MS bland garden expecting those bland fruits to turn to Eden 2.0, but in the end you will just get a bigger bland garden, not a better one.

Re: Blizzard Accused of Malicious Design as Diablo 4 Players Accidentally Activate Premium Battle Pass

NitrousX

To all the Nobel laureates in this comment section, asking people to use their "loafs", brains etc. the problem is not that you can one click buy it without confirmation (you can't), but that you can accidentally one click activate it once bought. The button for that (the default UI option) is placed right next to the one where you check your progress in this season (which you will do frequently). In this case, the streamer has already had the Premium Battle Pass(he bought the ultimate edition of the game), but was saving it for next season, as he did not have the time to put in the game right now. Again - the "activate" button requires only one click(no further confirmation), is the default UI option, and is placed right next to another button you will be pressing frequently. This is a disaster waiting to happen. I bought the game at launch and really enjoyed the campaign, PvP and helltides, but Blizz have consistently been tangoing the game one step forward, three steps backwards.

Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block

NitrousX

@Green-Bandit "saying it would bring games to that nation that aren’t yet there. " - absolutely no clue where are you getting this from, it's certainly not mentioned in the article, they only say that MS and ABK do not provide cloud gaming in Ukraine so it's none of their concern. And ABK games have been available in Ukraine for decades... I do not mean to sound antagonistic, but wishful interpretations and quite frankly fabrications to follow ones narrative are rarely a sing of person looking for an open debate...
