While Spiderman 2 is a day one purchase, this trump's that by a mile. I remember playing MGS on some demo disk back when I was in 8th or 9th grade. I can't wait to play them again.
My PS plus premium lapses in July and I've had auto renew turned off for months, this certainly solidifies my decision to do so.
Additionally, I feel like we are finally coming out of the Covid delays and there is enough games coming out monthly to keep me busy without the need for a subscription service.
@GodofCapcom I don't think Alloy is bland, I think the entire Horizon story is bland, boring, stupid and forgettable.
I would much rather find a big robo dino and fight it and I couldn't give 2 craps why I'm doing it because the combat is probably the best in all of gaming and the machines are just outstanding in design, visuals and in game play.
And even with one of the most boring pointless stories in all of gaming I still consider both games to be masterful and damn near perfect.
@ItsBritneyB_tch This semi answers my question and is my problem with dlcs that release so long after a game. I would prefer studios just work on a new game and this is why I never played the expansion for the first game even though I love the game.
I have probably played 50 games since I played horizon Forbidden West, I don't remember how to play that game anymore and these dlcs often come with no tutorials. Yeah I'm not an idiot, I don't need to be taught how to duck under a tree branch, but the complicated portions of the game I now have to reteach myself because it takes 16 months to develop a dlc...
@belmont I just don't understand this. I love my exclusives as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day, how does someone else being able to enjoy a game detract from your experience with it? It's just the most selfish crap I've ever heard of...
For someone who LOVES Horizon however bought the game at launch, beat it within let's say a month and haven't touched it since, what's the difficulty curve on getting back into the game?
Games these days have complicated controls that utilize every button on the controller and then some.
I don't want to spend hours of my time reteaching myself how to play....
In this case you literally have to click a button that takes you to the PlayStation store. You act like the game stops and an ad pops up like YouTube to try and get you to buy a Leon Kennedy outfit.
I don't know how much easier it could be to avoid, and seriously, if this is a major burden to you then I'd imagine you'll have a hard time in the real world...
@Old-Red I guess grocery stores shouldn't be allowed to fill the register aisle with a bunch of impulse crap either? But they do, Why? because people buy it. Nobody needs all that junk so I guess they shouldn't be allowed to put it there and bait you into buying it? Take control of your own actions.
This is real simple people, it's called supply and demand. They wouldn't waste their time on this crap if you didn't buy it. I'll bet you 9/10 people crying about micro transactions on this site buy them constantly and instead of being mad at yourself for being dumb you wanna pass the buck .... Literally to someone else.
@JAMes-BroWWWn So let's look at other industries. Let's say we are looking at blenders. One company makes 3 blenders, all different prices. You have a base model. An extra model with a couple features you'll never use and a pro model with a plethora of crap for blender enthusiasts.
This is capitalism. Nobody is crying about the blender company charging more for features that "should be" already in the blender, and when I say "should be" these are features people feel they are entitled to when they really aren't entitled to anything but what comes in the package that cost 60 dollars.
Companies have the right to charge people for stupid crap and if you want the stupid crap you pay for it, but nobody leave Walmart pouting about the blender with more features costing more money.
@Gaia093 not for nothing but how many people are really out there trying to speed run games??? I'll be modest and let's say 10k people... That's a drop in the bucket compared with what this game will sell
@KundaliniRising333 You also have a special sense of entitlement as it pertains to your views on content being held back to be sold later.
That's absolutely the developers decision to make. Again, I don't buy much dlc because I've usually moved on from a game by then or think it's just junk to begin with.
But I'm not getting mad at a company for releasing a character skin and I'm missing out on it because I don't wanna pay 5 bucks.
Ultimately you vote with your wallet and I think in doing so micro transactions have scaled way back to mostly cosmetic stuff or crap to make a second playthrough more fun. There is nothing predatory here, it's just junk some people might be dumb enough to buy.
@KundaliniRising333 micro transactions have been scaled back a lot over the last few years. Relax. This is a big pile of nothing, and you didn't answer my question on how someone else's enjoyment of a game effects you?
You've presumably probably already beat the game...
@KundaliniRising333 What do you care if they make the game easier for someone else???
Seriously, what's the problem? Why does the way someone else enjoys the game bother you? If someone wants to play with nothing but the rocket launcher and they wanna pay ten bucks to do so, how exactly does that effect you?
Personally I could not care less. I don't personally buy much dlc to begin with and I'm not buying this, but im not mad at Capcom for trying to make a few extra bucks especially when they are giving free VR updates to games and are one of the only companies releasing games on a regular basis.
@Wheatly Again, the developer would probably have been better served just starting work on a new game or a sequel. I don't understand why developers think people want to play single player games year round?
I understand patching and bug fixing updates but outside that just make a new game.
@StylesT Exactly what I do. When I'm done with a game, I'm simply done. I don't have the time or inclination to play more than 1 AAA game at a time anyway.
Do I need Forbidden West to play this? I own it, just wondering if I need to download it on top of expansion...
That said... I love Horizon... Boring story aside I think it's some of the best gameplay from the ps4-ps5 era.
My problem is when I beat games I move on from them. I don't like the idea of re learning games for a DLC released well over a year since I finished the last game.
Especially that days where every button on the controller is utilized and several systems work on top of one another.
New game plus is a great feature... When it comes in day one. Getting it 6 months after release when people have moved on to other games seems pointless.
Not only would I have to redownload a massive game but then I have to teach myself to play again.
Which is why I generally skip add ons. I LOVE Horizon, but do I want to re teach myself to play the game for a DLC that comes out over a year after I stopped playing?
Also as a general rule, I do not play open world games more than 1 time since they take so much time. I had around a 92 percent total completion for Ragnarok, doesn't seem like there would be much to gain in playing it again.
I love the demand of immediacy as it relates to the PSVR. Let me break down a few games for you
Santa Monica studios took 4 and a half years to release Ragnarok after God Of War .
Naughty dog took 4 years to release the last of us two after uncharted a thieves end. Almost 8 years between the last of us 1 and the last of us 2.
Sucker punch had 6 years between infamous second son and ghost of Tsushima.
Guerilla games took 5 years between horizon and horizon 2.
Days gone came out in 2019 and I don't even know what bend studios is working on?
Dreams took media molecule forever
Let's stop acting like first party titles are just falling out of the sky... Games take a long time to make. I remember just as bad a drought of software for literally every console I've ever bought at release.
@Wheatly Honestly... Every single little thing has been changed from the original game. I've beat RE4 probably ten times or more and this all feels new. I'm up to chapter 9 right now. Some environments are similar, but that's about it.
Definitely cancelling my subscription to this as soon on the next auto renew. I originally bought this because there was such a post Covid lack of games, but I don't seem to be having that problem anymore.
@huyi I don't know why anyone would, especially at a time where after the Covid hiatus, we are starting to see a slew of great new games (mostly remakes lol).
This is the absolute prototypical stereotypical indie game, there is nothing new or original here. Granted I'm playing resident evil 4 so it's hard to say that's very original either. But at least Resident evil 4 is only unoriginal to itself, where this is just another boring, cliche indie game that will have loads of underserved praise heaped on it because it was made by a small team.
In life, you get what you pay for, there is a reason I was able to download this free of charge, there is a reason it was quickly deleted and there is a reason I won't EVER download it again

Nothing. Worst gaming year ever. Prolly assassin's creed and a few remakes

Re: Sony's Portable PS5 Streaming Handheld Launches Later This Year
I really don't see the point in this thing and I'm a guy with a PSVR2 .... So I know something about wasting money.
The fact that it's a WiFi only device makes me wonder why I wouldn't just use my base PS5 on a big screen in the first place.
I'm sure you won't be able to have 1 person using the PS5 for 1 game and this for another. I'd be shocked if it even worked for coop games.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (PS5) - Aloy's New Chapter Is Essential for Fans
@Keyblade-Dan Here's the problem, it took them 14 or 15 months to release a DLC. Horizon 3 must be at a minimum 4 years away

Re: E3 2023 Has Been Officially Cancelled
@Impossibilium Here's the thing, those games aren't going anywhere. You just don't get a sneak peak 3 years early.
Re: E3 2023 Has Been Officially Cancelled
Honestly will anyone miss E3? Now a days companies do their own showcases so games aren't as "lost in the mix" if you want to put it that way.
Further more, maybe it's just me, but I don't get excited about games getting a trailer 3 years before it's release.
The demise of E3 isn't too say games are getting smaller, companies are just more savvy in how they market their products.
The point is we aren't losing anything...
