In a fun meeting of the minds, Final Fantasy XVI developers have reacted to a surprisingly stripped-down Tekken 8 skin for protagonist Clive, with the RPG star having now joined the roster of the latest entry in the legendary fighting franchise.
In a short clip posted to X by streamer Aitaikimochi, Final Fantasy XVI director Hiroshi Takai and producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida were presented live with a look at Clive in a scarlet fundoshi, a type of traditional Japanese undergarment (thanks, GamesRadar+). Yoshi-P queries Takai: "As the director of FF16, you OK'd this?" Takai admits, "Yeah, I might have approved this, " joking, "I might have been out of it at the time."
Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada teases Yoshi-P and wonders whether the producer is mad about Clive's new look. Yoshida takes it all in stride and clarifies: "If you're going to have him in Tekken, he should have all the features that the usual characters have. Otherwise, it won't be as fun."
