• Story have to give it to Tsushima, the Mongol invasion and opening/ending was much more epic but that's the nature of the story and scale.
• Character wise, Atsu. Liked her more than I thought.

@Nei At this point honestly it's better to have them wait on the big PSSR ''2.0'' update. But as gamers you get the lesser version on day one for most games nowadays.

@OptimusPrime1 These are new announced games from Flat2VR studios. So that's why but yeah Hitman is coming end of the month.

In the end it's about games and results. There was doom before Final Shape and it delivered. Wait until Marathon comes out and how it performs. In my book Bungie already had value by keeping ND a SP studio with their advice (and others). Jim paid for them, but they are not getting played like Bungie did with MS & Activision that's for sure.

@Cutmastavictory Well they paid for talent retention and from 150 that's spread across PS studios and 75 for a new team I guess they did.

Spent over 10hours on it over the weekend. Gonna get it had a lot of fun.

One of my fave games this gen obviously! Highly recommend anyone with a PS5.

Not perfect, especially the final third brought it down a bit personally. But havn't enjoyed a (new) FF game in a looooooong time.

People been talking like it didn't have games for it is always weird to me. It came out over a year ago, biggest draw is console quality titles/versions on it.

The hardware is great just not affordable for most consumers to have it as a ''sidepiece''. People saying Alyx is a difference maker are the same people that didn't buy a cheaper Quest for it lmao.

But regarding you as a gamer. It shows you had a stacked first half of games in 2024 and you get 2 first party titles soon including Silent Hill 2 and Wukong being console exclusives for myriad of reasons.

Roadmap and empty promises don't sell consoles, games do.

Meanwhile FF7 Rebirth still the highest rated game of the year, Helldivers 2 among the best selling. Concord claps every hero-shooter shown in SGF and Astrobot highly likely to be a GOTY (contender).

Hermen ain't worried about nothing after watching that. Indi Jones and Avowed still no date despite coming within 6 months.

Concord & Astrobot are 2 PS studios titles coming soon. Both very diverse for the roster of PS and a Until Dawn remake.
Monster Hunter Wilds & Dynasty Warriors + 2 good PS VR2 titles.

And they showed Silent Hill 2 + the transmission which was a massive step up from it's last showing.

Idk people seem to hate just cause they didn't get what they imagined in their heads.

It's been a while since it's announcement on the 35th anniversary. But take your time, UE5, darker tone I am still hyped! I assume they wanna release it on the Switch 2 as well.

I am curious about Concord. Held really close to the chest and the first FPS in over a decade from Sony.

My expectations are a bit lower since I think they gonna do a September showcase for the Pro with more new announcements.

So far Astrobot, Demon's Souls, Returnal, GT7, FF16 and Helldivers 2 really stood out to me this gen.. really titles not typical of the ''format'' hence why I am looking forward to Concord the first FPS from PS in over a decade. SM2, Ragnarok, Horizon did what I expected as sequels with better performance and features.

Currently going through FF7 Rebirth and Stellar Blade, ain't even got time for Ronin. Too many titles.. Damn what a difference, compared to PS4 with it's first few years which was basically Indiestation 4.

Seeing the recently leaked list of PSN digital sales, it was a clear exaggeration and certain narrative pushed that physical was over.

Not having a physical on storefronts/available on retailers website as one of the GOTY contenders is self sabotaging free marketing at the same time denying the physical market..

PS5 sold over 2,5 million in 2023, the highest ever since the PS2 in Japan. Think about that.

It's also outpacing the PS4 despite of the shortages and Sony giving preference in the pandemic to the Western market for supplies.

Weird narrative regarding home console.

SM2 like the previous titles will have legs and it's only on one platform + it's 70. But it's impressive regardless from Helldivers 2, it's telling enough my sister asked me if I played it since she saw it on TikTok (she dgaf about gaming in general)

And it's quite funny for the people that said Jim Ryan's live-service expansion would fail and the first one out the gate is a massive success. He must be somewhere drinking his wine laughing.

The year is so stacked especially from the Japanese side, FF7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2 & Tekken 8 took all of my time. Still have to get to GB Fantasy Relink, DD2, Unicorn Overlord, LAD. Really want to get to Ronin but won't finish that before Stellar Blade is out...

For P3 ill wait for the ''royal'' version and SS:KTJL seems like a fun Crackdown skin title for the clearance bin.

They probably banked on Factions for this year shame that Neil didn't let the folks go through with Jak&D since he felt they outgrown that. Would'v been cool to have that this year along side Concord & Silent Hill 2..

@truerbluer Yep in my eyes Jim expanded what PS is good at and went into the MP space. My fear is that this dude is going full at the mobile/mtx market and what might look good on paper but ruin the console for (lacklustre) sales on PC.

My point is that the previous CEO sold out and went to that point of no return. And a lot of folks in the comments either are misinformed are just spouting head spinsels.

and if we go by the Jim Ryan interview a year back regarding this, he wants to stagger the releases more between them en not shorten them at detriment of the console

@ImGumbyDammit I don't have to look at anything, I look at facts. Not head spinsel, and fact of the matter is Jim got a big celebration and respect from HQ in Japan. Layden got escorted out of the building (per David Jaffe sources).

PS breaking records, PS studios tripled in size, best 1st party output of any console, managed COVID & secured CoD in the ABK trial until PS7 and beat Xbox to 3rd party. I don't have to buy anything

@PlayStation_Dawg1994 Go ahead! A 3DS remaster (I like Luigi's Mansion tho) and Princess Peach while you asking for bangers in a timespan where LoU2 remaster, GB Fantasy, Helldivers 2, FF7 Rebirth and Ronin dropped. Then you got 3rd party with Tekken 8, Like A Dragon, P3, DD2.

Also the PS5 is outpacing the PS4 in US and Japan despite COVID and the irony is EU got shafted with supplies for the US due to competition of Xbox there. Lol.

Gonna wait for full game, last SoP secured it for me but also the feedback from folks playing it is good. Gotta support these action games! We getting less and less of them.

Also I find the comments hilarious, ''he killed 1st party and will never reach PS2 sales''. Guys PS2 was the ultimate 3rd party /DVD machine. And 1st party has never been stronger on any PS platform. ''Bungie & Liveservice is a failure'' Bungie didn't even drop a game and the first live-service from the initiative is a hit. These folks man... smh. My gripe and I am not singling out single reviewers/outlets but if you judge one game on performance (seen a lot with Ronin) and give another a pass which has worse performance with even drops to 15 fps and doesn't even run proper on top PC rigs. That's hypocritical.

On top of that same reviewers held a crusade against SS:KTJ for mtx but are telling the audience that the MTX in this full price 70 SP game is oke.. and on top of that performance is terrible and that doesn't reflect in scores for this game? And we are complaining?? GTFO.

Havn't played since the PSP days (minus checking out the demo of Rise on Switch). I'm gonna jump into this one tho!

and open world seems natural progression just hoping it won't go the (Blizzard) MMO route cause what game not better fitted for mtx..

@Cloud39472 FF7R is the 2nd best selling PS5 game behind 16 on launch in Japan.

Ronin and DD2 being the same day has cannibalised their sales, probably crossed 100k mark if they had the space. Still wild to me Ronin got more flack than completely broken DD2 in performance. Neither did boost the PS5 tho.

Really wanted to play DD2 & Ronin but still busy with Helldivers 2 & FF7 Rebirth last month...

I will pick up Ronin, every time I see gameplay vids it looks awesome. DD2 got away with way worse (e.g. broken performance &mtx) in reviews.

@doctommaso Genuinely look up the PS4 gen and look on a year to year basis how many first party exclusives there are. PS5 is massively outperforming. And I am sorry but it's wild to me that you said that when PS5 had the best first party launch of any PS.

About Bungie expanding in MP and there are no studios/publishers Sony can afford with FPS/live-service at that calibre. Add the stab to MS with Bungie's history it's 3 birds with one stone. Overpaid, yes, but I won't say it's terrible due to a 10 year old title. I would reserve on Marathon and imo they saved ND and other established studios from disaster (turning into a full live-service studio with Factions). Going off Helldivers 2 can't say the live-service expansion is a failure and personally like they going to add FPS (which has been severely lacking in)

Regarding his comment of old titles, let's be honest. You see the same folks that are crying about Ronin graphics... No one took PS Now neither did people respect the PS3 phat for its BC enhancements. They know the metrics. For me it's fine if you dislike him for whatever reason but at least base it rationally. Within Sony he is celebrated and appreciated for a reason, they never done this for another CEO except for the father of PS .

@UnlimitedSevens Difference was last-gen that PS3 couldn't go cross-gen due to the Cell. There were a lot of ports/remasters tho. And let's be honest for once, the first half of PS4 was basically called Indiestation 4 for a reason.

Regarding PS5 Pro it depends on the software output. 1st party will take advantage definitely, but regarding expectations would gladly have fidelity mode at 60 (and on top of that ray-tracing?) whenever possible.

The hate was way before that.

He will go down as a PS legend. Been there since day 0, built up EU, saved the PS3 gen and managed to guide PS during crucial times (covid/threat of MS)

For me PS5 has been great, better library for it's time-span than PS4. PS Now (+) has been improved immensely. A lot of great accessories for the console. PS studios tripled in size and expanded in the lacking MP space.

I returned my copy of DD2 that performance was broken and garbage. I will never trust these same reviewers ever again, going to get Ronin during the week. Every time I see people playing it they saying it's good.

I saved my FF mode (plat) and then for the dlc but might hold off until the Pro comes out.

One of my fave games this gen, I was disappointed that they did the dlc after saying it was wrapped up (hate not owning the complete edition) but the dlc looks good!

I get that returning to office is annoying but we've been waiting for over a decade since the last instalment.. and with the leaks the security concerns are valid from Rockstar.

Big mistake giving it in the hands of Aspyr. Wish Sony gave it to Bluepoint, but then IP ownership blabla..

Wonder if Embracer can salvage it, my hopes are still up.
