@cburg Microsoft was approached and turned down the chance to make a Spider-Man game. Sony, already owning the movie rights to Spiderman saw an opportunity.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy
Sony doesn't hide demos behind PS Premium, they hide full game trials.
A demo is a smaller part of the game downloaded and once you reach a certain point, you can no longer progress.
With the PS Premium trials, you get full access for 2 hours and if you could speed run the game to end before 2 hours you could play the full game.
Huge difference.
@Noone2025 The Sega Saturn sold about 9.26 million units worldwide. Around 6 million of them in Japan. PS5 has sold 80.25 units worldwide wide and 7 million in Japan. If you can't see the difference that's a you problem. Also, the PS5 is the top selling home console(non handheld before you bring up the Switch) of it's generation in Japan. The Switch is a handheld which the Japanese market prefers.
Most of the time, here in Canada anyway, the PS Store is cheaper than buying a disc game. And, I bought a PS5 Pro and I bought a disc drive. Sony didn't force me to go all digital.
Since this was announced, I always felt the Hitman games would work better as a Mission Impossible game. So I was very skeptical of this game.
This trailer was great. It completely made me hyped for this.
So basically exactly like Assassin's Creed Syndicate, got it. That's not a bad thing as that was my favourite traditional Creed. Really looking forward to this and Ghost of Totei. We are definitely spoiled.
@Creature666
So, you're telling me if a developer was having a problem optimizing a popular game that was released on competing consoles, Sony would just set back and say whatever?
Also, you completely ignore that Xbox being late with developer kits had a negative impact on games released during the Series launch window.
If you're developing and selling a console it's on you to ensure game developers have as easy time as possible developing games for your console, especially if you are making it a requirement to also release games on an inferior console at the same time.
Not every developer is a billion dollar company or has hundreds and hundreds of people working on a game.
Funny because on every site, article and comments people complain about the size and costs of game development, yet now are blaming a smaller team having problems optimizing a game for a less powerful console that if they want to release on the Series X they must also release on the S with graphic fidelity being the only difference.
Hypocritical much?
And enough with this "how is GTA 6 going to be on the Series S? Or if GTA 6 can be on the Series S why can't _____ game be?" Rockstar is a huge company. GTA is a huge franchise. Rockstar can delay GTA 6vad much as they want for whatever reason they want and it won't hurt the sales at all. Also, they have the manpower to spend as much time as needed to optimize the game for the Series S as needed. I'd bet a good deal of money is the Series S didn't exist, GTA 6 would already be out.
I really wish people would read the article instead of just commenting blindly.
The issue with Black Myth isn't only because of the Series S. Game Science fully admits in their Tweet or statement they do not have years of experience working with the Series S. The other issue is where is Microsoft in helping Game Science getting this game on Series S?
This is Microsoft's biggest issue this generation. They don't seem to care that some developers are having issues with optimisation on the Series S.
This was also why the PS5 early in its lifecycle was out performing the Series X because Sony had dev kits out early and Sony is known to help developers.
For all the money Microsoft throws around, they really are completely incompetent in running a video game company.
@torquex “Which somehow feels a bit wrong, but that 10GB of shared memory – without years of optimisation experience – is really hard to make work.” That's a quote from the article from the game's director admitting they don't have experience with optimizing for the Series X. However, where's Microsoft? Why are not assisting in trying to get the game on the Series consoles? Clearly Microsoft either doesn't care or are to arrogant to care.
@johnedwin Skydance merged with Paramount in July making the value of the new company more than the $26 billion Sony was willing to pay. Still proves my original point and disproves your theory Sony doesn't have money. I really don't understand why people think Sony doesn't have money.
@johnedwin
Obviously you forget in the Spring of this year, quick Google search, Sony was going to purchase Paramount for $26 billion all cash. Paramount merged with Skydance for $2 billion more.
It amazes me how ignorant people are when almost everyone has access to internet and owns a cellphone now.
@HonestHick Candy Crush isn't a good game, it's a successful game. There's a difference. Saying Candy Crush is good is like calling McDonald's the best hamburger. Successful doesn't always mean good or the best.
@Ceridane took me about 3 months to get the Platinum in Legends. Once I got it I synced my trophies and deleted Legends from my PS4. Haven't touched it since because I was worn out by it. Too bad because it's one of the best platformers I've played. I'd argue it's better than the New Super Mario Bros games.
PS5 61.7 million units sold.
Series X and S 28.3 million units sold.
There simple.
Add in Gamepass and Series S being a pain for some developers.
The fact that Microsoft, one of the biggest companies in the world needs to investigate this is crazy. Just blows my mind.
The price would be fine if it included the disk drive, or if Sony would allow Pro users to switch to digital copies if they have only the disk version.
Overreaction much? Sure Concord flopped, but in 3 days Astro Bot is out. Absolutely no one thought Concord would be a success which I guess Sony should be blamed for, but to suggest they need to take a long hard look at themselves is ridiculous. If you think Sony needs to do this, should XBox fold? Again, ridiculous.
I'm super excited about the PS5 Pro. Once it's officially announced, I'll pre-order it at Gamestop. Once it's released, I'll trade in my PS5 for it. Simple.

Unfortunately it does not.
However, Ps Plus members get 5% off if they do not own the digital version of the first.
