Who are these people that have the time and day to moan about a game going multi platform? Honestly do they have jobs? Do they not have rents or mortgages to worry about? How is it that with all the problems in the world this is the one they are moaning about?

I think the tide is turning the first time in a very long time. This showcase was a win for xbox, Playstation's live service model is going to ruin their portfolio and road map of top quality single player games.

Can't believe people are still getting salty over PC ports. Some even calling it bad strategy. Well considering they keep releasing to PC, I think its fair to say they are seeing a good return on it otherwise why would they bother?

They are making 12 live service games? Then how will they have any resources to make single player games? Looks PS5 Gen will be live service mostly from Sony first party. We may get 3-4 more single player games at this point this Gen and that's about it from Sony Studios.

Playstation future is clearly live service Games now. They are focusing on this and I think single playe games Will now be an after thought.

I think Playstation might just be moving away from single player games. I think future for them is live service. We saw many of those games in the showcase and just 1 single player first party.

This is what happens when you push for live service games. 5 Playstation studios live service games and only 1 single player. Such a Trash showcase. Probably the worst one I've ever seen.

That was very disappointing. What are the internal studios working on? We hardly got a look. Might aswell have called it a 3rd Party Showcase.

Was reading some reports yesterday that it could be held next Thursday.

I'm struggling with the service so much. There are just too many good games to play on it right now and just not enough time.

I still don't think people understand how big Call of Duty is, people will ditch Playstation for Xbox if it ever goes exclusive. There is no doubt about that.

Basically no Activision/Blizzard on gamepass in the UK. Wonder how many people this is going to trigger

@UltimateOtaku91 Destiny 2 is nowhere near a CoD killer. MW II last year generate a billion dollars in sale within a few days of launch and no doubt a large chunk of those sales were on Playstation

How's the service not better then game pass? The quality is insane. Yeah there's no AAA day 1 but if day 1 means redfall then who cares.

Personally I prefer the Playstation Plus service over Game Pass. The library has the better games. Yes they might not be newer titles but they are still higher quality titles and just far better in selection when compared to game pass.

@FenIsMightier you've given a fabulous example with the Google and apple products. This is exactly why I didn't understand Phil's point about ecosystem. When I think about Playstation or Xbox I don't think about the ecosystem I just think about what Games I'll be able to play on it. I bought Xbox 360 for Halo 3 but then I also bought Playstation 3 to play Uncharted and Killzone. Same for Playstation 4, I wanted access to the new Uncharted and God of War. I went back to Xbox with the Series X because I missed out on the Xbox One so there were Exclusives like Halo 5, Gears 4 and 5, Forza Horizon which I didn't have on PS4. Point being that for me it was always the games that attracted me to the console. I never thought about anything else.

@Neither_scene yeah you make a excellent point about the mass market. Its actually spot on. I forgot that FIFA and COD have a huge impact. I also know someone who only plays these 2 games and doesn't care about anything else and there's a lot of people who do the same thing. It's a very interesting conversation and I guess it's not as straightforward as I thought it was.

@Neither_scene but the gaming industry is drastically different to smartphone or music industry.

With the example of iPod, a music library is something that you'll use for years, people listen to their favourite music on repeat because it doesn't require a huge deal of time.

Even with smartphone, once you buy it, you're not going to buy anything else for it. You'll just stick with it. That's it, you now have a phone.

Gaming is completely different, the people who invest the most in gaming are the people who work full time. So they have limited time. Which means they are not really going to play old games again and again no matter how big the library is. That's a contrast to having a huge iTunes library.

With gaming when you buy a console, it's not the end. Unlike with a smartphone. After buying a console you look for a constant supply of great games. So eventually over time your digital library is not going to mean much when you realise the competitor console is releasing master piece after master piece. Neither is the ecosystem going to matter. If tomorrow Xbox made better games then God of War, Uncharted, Horizon, Last of Us. Then people who have a Playstation now would indeed switch over. There is no way they wouldn't.

In terms of ecosystem, what is it that consoles have? Controllers, Digital Libarary, Peripherals? All of these things are secondary to great games. GREAT Games is literally the reason we all love gaming.

@get2sammyb absolutely, it's the cumulative sum. If for instance Xbox built games that were constantly getting 10/10 and suddenly made bigger and better games then Playstation then that would definitely turn the tide. Who wouldn't want to play such games? The comments he made are indeed odd.

He said in the interview that even if Xbox builds great games they can't win the generation because they lost the last generation in which people built huge digital libraries. People won't ditch those libraries no matter what.

I'm not sure I agree with that. There's only so many times a person can play an old game until they get bored. Also who are these people that continuesly play old games? There's barely enough time to play new games. Great games is literally the reason to game. It's the only reason. Great games = fun. I don't get his logic.

It's MMO and being developed by devs who apparently have a history with NFTs
