Re: Poll: What Did You Think of The Last of Us - Episode 8?

CaptainBasch

This is the episode I was most looking forward to as it is my favorite part of the game. I thought it was okay. I wasn't buying the actor they went with as David. This version was no way near as charismatic as he was in the game. He was definitely creepy in a pedo way but didn't give off the impression of a manipulative leader. Was John Hawkes even approached for the role? He would have been perfect. Would have been a really cool if Troy Baker actually played the role because he did look better for the part and could have pulled it off. The episode also felt rushed and the payoff fell flat. I actually cried when Joel called Ellie "baby girl" in the game. Felt nothing here. There was just no emotional weight. He just hugs her and they walked off. The scene should have just cut to black with her bawling in his arms. Was cool to see Joel go on a rampage though but there could have been more. He just waltzed into town without even getting attacked and the snow storm didn't feel as strong as it should have been.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Octopath Traveler 2?

CaptainBasch

Just playing 30 minutes of Throne campaign in the demo was enough to confirm to me that this entry is much better than the first. So far better character, animation, writing, visuals, and the music remains in top form. It also seems grander in scope. Looking forward to playing this once I get through my backlog.

Re: Poll: How Good Was The Last of Us - Episode 4?

CaptainBasch

Spoiler Warning:
I'm wondering how they are going to handle the final episode of this season because if Joel has a hard time taking out those three stooges how the hell is he going to make it through a hospital full of Fireflies?
I was hoping that his confrontation with the "raider" would be more brutal. They tried to humanize him too much and it just didn't work. Also, HE almost killed Joel? That clown looked like Joel could wipe the floor with him. The whole scene for me just fell flat. Definitely one of the weaker episodes, probably due to having a different director. Glad he will not be directing any more after episode 5.
On a more positive note, watching Joel's interactions with Ellie were the strongest parts of this episode. His reactions to her jokes were heartwarming, heartbreaking, and hilarious all at once.

Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo

CaptainBasch

I was actually playing the demo last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. After getting a hang of the controls I found the combat fun and satisfying. The game looks and sounds great too, although will probably be better on PC. I'd personally play with higher fidelity and frame rates. My only gripe was Freya's Tourette's episodes. I'm not a prude in the least but the cursing is unnecessary and feels forced. Why is she dropping f bombs every other sentence? Because she's from NYC? I know plenty of people, including myself, who grew up in NYC and don't talk like gutter trash. Conclusion: will purchase PC version.

Re: This PS1 Era Bloodborne Demake Is the Real Deal

CaptainBasch

An admirable effort but don't think I could play this for more than 2 minutes. I find nostalgia in 2D sprite-based games but PS1 gen polygons look horrendous and age terribly. Actually makes me hope for a Nightmare Creatures remake. That game wasn't meant for old hardware just like Bloodborne wasn't.

Re: PS5 Won't Play PS3, PS2, or PS1 Games

CaptainBasch

I was able to play digital purchases of PS2 and PS1 games on a PS3. Why would I not be able to play them on a beast of a machine like the PS5.
It also really sucks that I wasted money on games I cannot play anymore, even on PSNOW.
