As teased by Sony on Monday night, the PlayStation Store Summer Sale has arrived. It brings with it a long, long list of great deals on PlayStation 4 games that replace the July Savings discounts which started a few weeks back. This new sale lasts through until 20th August 2020, so it's certainly a lengthy one that could be added to as the weeks go by. As always, let's take a look at what we've got.
Perhaps the most surprising inclusion in the Summer Sale is Disintegration. Released just over a month ago, you can already pick up a digital copy for just £23.99/$29.99. Yakuza spin-off Judgment is the definition of a bargain at £9.99/$23.99, Resonance of Fate 4K/HD Edition goes on sale for £17.39/$20.99, and the Gold Edition of Hitman 2 comes in at £15.99/$19.99. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition can be yours for £15.74/$14.99 and the recent Trials of Mana has been discounted to £35.99/$39.99. Elsewhere, Saints Row The Third Remastered comes down in price to £26.24/$29.99 and Resident Evil 3 can be copped for £28.99/$35.99.
The PlayStation Blog post detailing the Summer Sale hasn't been posted just yet, but you can check out the full list of offers on the PlayStation Store itself through here. Is there anything here taking your fancy? Post your haul in the comments below.

I wasnt interested in any of them unfortunately. Ive passed on these games multiple times now. Im still waiting for a bunch of the cool new indies to start going on sale.
Nothing for me, either. :/
Its pretty rotten tbf.. Same old same old and lots of them have been cheaper eg..Control was on sale just a few weeks ago at 12.99 now its on sale for 17.49.. Pretty dodgy of them really!
All these same games are for sale every time, it makes one think that they should just be their now permanent prices.
Judgement is very tempting at that price.
There are several that I’m tempted to grab for the [already enormous] backlog. Games I’ve been on fence about like The Outer Worlds, Dreams, Resident Evil 2, and Control. Also Hitman 2, but I probably should play Season 1 first. 😅
@ankehuber @LiamCroft
Why cant the older more unpopular games get a permanent price reduction? After not many sales why not ? I always wonder that. Especially when consoles are being phased out. Id buy a lot of them I just passed on due to price. They dont go on sale but they're from 2016 and still at 49.99. wtf?
Liam can you ask developers that question? That's a story I want to know about.
ex:(I always wanted Pharlap, but unless it's cheaper I never will buy it and it's never been on sale)
I wait for Black Friday sales in November and pick up physical disc dirt cheap.
The only game I'm even remotely interested in is The Outer Worlds. Is it worth it at that price point? I liked Fallout NV and I love Mass Effect, if that helps.
Wonder if resonance of fate is any good.
Death Stranding and Bayonetta / Vanquish double pack for me!
@ankehuber @Powerpellet I imagine it's because people are more tempted to buy if they think they're getting a "deal" and there's a deadline on when they can take advantage of said "deal".
There'll definitely be research into the psychology of this.
Definitely getting Judgment at that price!
@get2sammyb
Thank you that's cool. Here's one for you to ponder then, do digital purchases not follow the same laws as supply and demand? And at what risk is this gamble to the developers to always wait for the eventual sale rather than ever discounting the price? I think many purchases at a lower price would make more sense. Supply in digital terms means, (the life of the system). Demand is still determined by desire but also by the price. Older games aren't in demand but the price never reduces. My desire remains, but mostly only if the price reduces.
@tameshiyaku - RoF is brilliant but it has a pretty steep learning curve and some huge difficulty spikes. Once it all clicks into place though it's a blast to play.
I Am Setsuna, Judgement and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for me.
Is Star Ocean Til The End Of Time worth buying, anyone know ?
Is this up in the US yet, on the website I only see "July savings"?

@gollumb82 it's definitely a fun game. It's a lot more like Fallout NV than Mass Effect though. The quests can be completed in a lot of different ways and a with a lot of different outcomes which is really cool. The minute to minute gameplay of shooting and looting gets a bit stale after a while. Probably because the combat is a bit too easy and there are way too many items to pick up so it becomes a bit tedious.
@Flurpsel
Thanks! Guess I'll hold off till the next sale ane get it even cheaper.
The sale page not even having a platform filter is a sadly familiar sight these days. But it was arguably grimmer just now to exit the page, click the general "offers" section... and not see a platform filter THERE, even for the current Vita discounts like Chasm. Then again, PS webstore glitching to the moon and back isn't exactly a shocking phenomenon either.
Still, I did kinda hope there would be something prominent for the platforms left behind. But a current batch the aforementioned Chasm belongs to is listed to end the sale tomorrow on the 23rd, so time will tell.
My indies wishlist gather more cobwebs for another sale!
Timespinner (Released Sept.2018)
Blazing Chrome, (Released July 2019)
Castle Crashers Remastered, (Rel.Oct. 2019)
River City Girls, (Rel. Sept. 2019)
Fight'N' Rage,(Rel. Dec. 2019)
Battle Princess Madelyn, (Oct. 2019 EU/AU PSN,Dec 2018 US)
Xeno Crisis,(Rel. Oct. 2019)
Afterparty (Rel. Oct.2019)
To name a few...most of these have had sales on Switch/Steam etc. all bar PSN-they've never had a psn sale since launch.
Cursed Castilla & Super Hydorah haven't had psn sales since Aug/Sept. 2018 according to ps prices.
@LiamCroft @get2sammyb Would be interesting to hear if any indie devs/ publishers are still having communication issues/difficulties applying for sales,compared to other formats?
Backlog is too big right now to be tempted by these games that in majority already were cheaper at some point!
I have a ton to play but judgement for a tenner and greedfall for 13 quid are pretty bloody tempting!!
Sale is meh, can't see anything in there.
Btw, just noticed NFS heat went to EA Access vault and now free to play if you have bought subscription. Neat.
@Th3solution I was super excited to play hitman 1 when it was given with ps plus. Playing it felt like dying while doing chores. You spend 99% of the time waiting for something to happen or someone to move and you have to restart the mission at the slightest mistake either because you are so bored you rushed it or you fell asleep on your controller and missed a 20 second window after a 10 minute wait
@get2sammyb @Powerpellet it's not a matter of supply and demand. If they could sell 1 billion copies for 50p they would lower the price, but there are only so many potential buyers. The strategy is mostly based on product value and temporary deal. Lower the price and it will seem old and not as good as a product full price but with a crazy discount. There is also the matter of limited time offer pushing people to buy it before they run out of games because they might want to play it some day and it is a good opportunity.
If all the games ended up with a permanent price cut (which I would love) nobody would end up with a giant backlog because we would all wait to run out of games to play before buying the next one.
So basically, sales are made to push idiots like me to buy more games than they need. Oh look! Judgement seems cool!
@Rhaoulos @get2sammyb
But if they ARE old and unwanted, I can't see why not. Especially at the end of the systems life.
Been holding off on RE3 Remake because I didn't want to pay $60 for it after reading so many disappointing write ups. Could anyone confirm it's worth $35 or should I wait longer?
I've got so many games to play across my systems. I'm good for a while.
Wasn't going to get anything as the car needed work done but I couldn't help myself and got Judgment, A Plague Tale and Until Dawn from the previous sale (my wife's not really a gamer but she loves that one! )
RE3 Remake is worth about £15. Can't believe I paid full price for it, it should have been DLC to RE2.
@CaptainBasch I'd wait a little longer, it's still not worth that.
But that's my personal opinion, I'm sure many disagree. The game is a lot shorter than the original RE3.
Greedfall and GRID are both just over £13. Been waiting for them for ages.
@gollumb82 Its definitely worth it. If you like the games you mentioned you'll love Outer Worlds.
@CaptainBasch id wait longer. Get it at Christmas when it will be less than 20.
@starbuck2212
Hmm. Can you comment on the gunplay in this game? I pay a lot of attention to this in shooters (or games involving guns). I read an opinion that most guns in TOW feel and sound like peashooters...
mmm...Picked up Far Cry 4 from the still active previous sale yesterday, after enjoying the hell out of Far Cry 3 which I picked up for just 3 bux in the same sale
@thefirst I'm genuinely glad you enjoyed it more than me. I didn't enjoy it enough for another playthrough tbh, I've played the 2nd about 5 times lol. I feel they should have just rebranded it as Nemisis and released it as DLC then remade Code Veronica but rebrand that as RE3, seeing as its the true 3rd game
@oldschool1987
Thanks. I've got a backlog to chip away at anyway. The plan now is to buy games I've been passing on during the holidays so I can play them on my PS5 intead.
@thefirst I loved the original game of Nemises. He doesn't really chase you relentlessly like Mr X in the RE2 remake, he pops up at keys moments and you're often given a choice to run or fight, that was missing from the remake, and so were a few favourite locations like the clock tower and the graveyard.
But you're making me consider redownloading it and giving it another go, it was definitely well made and beautiful to look at. I'll give it another go, I might find more enjoyment the 2nd time. Any advice up unlock to inf rocket launcher? The best way to get enough points for it
Yeah there's definitely a case to me made for more permanent price drops to happen on the store.
I get the appeal of having frequent deals, but there's also a lot of games that I don't think benefit from that at all.
It's the same with sports games. While we shouldn't expect them to just give away the likes of FIFA/Madden etc once they're a few years old hold hardly any value, yet the store is still pricing them at relatively high prices.
FIFA 17 is £17.99 on the digital store. It's 50p in CEX. They talk about the used games market being unfair on publishers but just look at the difference there. It's so far out of touch.
Aaalllll of those games and yet.. Still nothing for poor little old me :`(
I took the bait. Finally purchased Spiderman
alot of great deals if you don't already own most of them.
@Powerpellet With all the talk about PS5 compatibility, I'm not sure we can talk about the end of a system's life. It'll be a little like upgrading a PC, you have better graphics and quicker loading times with the exact same game bought on the same store
@gollumb82 sorry for the late reply. They are right the guns are a bit pea shooter. Plus its not a very long game. Its defo worth the sale price though. Plus its probably the last game we'll see a game from them on a playstation console.
