I played astrobot the other day, and now it feels less of a fun celebration of Sony but more of a depressing mausoleum.

For me it's the shattering of the trust. They have gotten us hooked then pulled the rug. Honestly I'm more or less done with gaming due to the actions of xbox and playstation. Nintendo has (mostly) cartridges for now but they have enshitified too.

The wealth of games currently available 2nd hand means I can still dabble at an affordable price. So yeah, we don't need these companies really, time to break the cycle and touch more grass.

Perfectly reasonable to doubt a 10/10 masterpiece review of a video game that has glaring flaws. IGN need more structure to their review process, clearly. How are consumers meant to rely on them to reccomend a game?

I downloaded it, "free" via ps plus, it required a ubisoft account or some bs so i instantly quit and uninstalled.

Because I'm a vindictive swine, I love to see all that creative effort go to nought because of requirements like this.

And guess what? There are hundreds of other games that are vying for my attention, so I'll just go play them instead.

Looks like someone will be paying for Conchord, and all the other blunders after all.

From an industry point of view: What a colossal waste of everyones time.

I hope this keeps happening, until there are almost none left, and everyone who enjoys this crap can piss off to fortnite and waste there time there.

On a personal level: I hope the devs gained from the experience and land on their feet. It's not easy out there, so I also hope the owners do right by them.

This game is a waste of time and energy, it's just too stressful. I binned it (returned it) after 2 hours.

If this had been a patch to tune down difficulty then I'd be prepared to reconsider, but this is just tone deaf.

Edit: just realised it doesn't, so it turns out this isn't very generous, a 4.5 year old game being released in its non complete version.
I understand that the dlc is recent, but you can't expect me to think this is anything special.

Good, get it cancelled and get them working on a solid single player game with an added on multiplayer mode.

Mistakes have been made, but its time to recognise them and move on.

I agree with all points. Live service games are dishonest addictive and shallow. Corporate greed is a reason they are appealing, at no benefit to the consumer. Want to feel like you are being scammed? Get yourself investested in crap like fortnite.

Herman Hulst should be sacked. He has no business being at the helm of a games company, particularly one with the history playstation has.

Character looks fine, story looks interesting. I'm not a fan of anything ND has done since the first Jak and Daxter sadly, not really my style of game and I've been burnt buying their games only to stop playing and not return, so a demo would be nice.

Regarding the politics, I do feel like ND are making a political statement with the character, so you are bound to wind some people up. Pre-emptively turning youtube comments off shows they knew this as well.

I haven't enjoyed anything from ND since Jak and Daxter 1, and I've tried most of their games.

I actually gave it extra effort to trying to enjoy them due to all the glowing reviews, but in the end I gave up. This made me sad to not enjoy sonething almost everyone else appeared to like.

I imagine there are some like me out there who feel the same way. Sadly I won't be spending money on this, however I'd play a demo to see if this game is different from uncharted or tlou. So I'd offer my time to give this a chance but I won't offer money.

And no offence, but I wouldn't trust a review of this game, as I haven't agreed with the previous ones (Jak and Daxter 1 excluded).

Not really sold on the naughty dog game, though i didn't enjoy much from them since jak and daxter 1. So I am surprised to see it top this poll, though I am aware I'm in the minority for disliking the cinematic experience type games. There wasn't too much to go off in the trailer to tell if it will be a similair experience, but I'd sooner go watch a movie.
Elden ring wins it for me, even if it is a weird spinoff.

I already didn't care about any of these live service games. When I play a game I don't want to feel like I'm some hapless mark bring duped out of their money (like some poor sod putting £40 into a fruit machine on pay day).
I hope Fairgame$ and Marathon get cancelled or scaled back, and I'm glad that the live services as the future is looking bleak.
Considering their rich heritage, I'm surprised to see Sony falling for this.

Oh and just to go a bit old school, I preferred it when multiplayed modes get tacked on to single played experiences such as Goldeneye and Halo.

Though there are succesful modern examples like CoD or even titanfall (less succesful but presumably better than 25k), so this isn't really an archaic concept either.

Why not use Sonys significant single player experience to entice us in, and then make us stick around for the multiplayer.

On one hand I am pleased, it gives a message to publishers to what games aren't wanted want loud and clear, bland live service shooters are old hat.

I don't know if the culture war stuff has played into it, but it has also featured on deidetected.com, i imagine this would only put off a tiny proportion of people, but a lot of people do care about that sort of thing.

On the other hand I'm sad, it's well made and I can only imagine the trauma and stress of watching something you put vast amount of time into come to nothing.

I don't like the game, and it makes me sad.

Summons, blessing, buffs, spirit ash, level up more. All viable options to beat something without needing to learn and respond to the boss moves.
To be honest these games give you so many ways to get around road blocks compared to many others.

Microsofts grasping for profit at all costs is detestable. It's evident in their PC OS also. I'll pirate these games before i buy them. ***** them.

To be blunt, it's crap.

Too many games, so little time. Even at "free" I'm not sure really. Beginning a game and commiting time to finish it is a cost I often struggle to pay.

I played the other games multiple times, but this one feels dull to play through again. The account wide progression sounds flashy, but subsequent characters are "buffed" by stat and skill points from your first play through, making them feel boosted and easy.
You are even encouraged to skip the campaign, so you get straight to the dull grindy crap. This shows a lack of understanding in what makes playing a game fun.
Then again the dull grindy seasonal stuff is where they sell the battle passes, so it's obviously their goal.

Sometimes constructive criticism and nuanced debate is a waste of time. I believe this is one of those times.

Glad I bought this pysically so I can return it. I really don't like the feeling of being made a fool out of by EA and Push Squares overly generous review score.

Gets a 5 for releasing too soon. I actively don't want to play this until the patches sort out the stuttering. Amazon inform me i have until 28th of May to return this.

Unless patched I will be returning and waiting for a very deep sale, or deliberately buy 2nd hand to deprive them of a sale.

Patch doesn't do anything. Cutscenese related to the first boss fight still stutter in exactly the same way. Tried on performance and none performance mode. Guess we will need to keep waiting. Got my finger hovering over the return to amazon at this stage...

First boss down, the gameplay is great perfect difficulty balance and great exploration. However, performance is a big issue, the cutscenes stutter, framerate drops are consistent, even on performance mode.
This does bother me, especially when the cutscenes are otherwise great. Unless you are desperate I'd just wait for a patch.

As a rule of thumb - if microsoft is pushing something as the next big thing, it isn't.

Simply put;

It's overpriced massively. Number one aspect that affects whether or not someone makes a purchase of pretty much anything.

At this price point you don't get anything that is particularly ground breaking anyway, so failure is inevitable.

It hasn't got backwards compatability. Sony are you joking? This is such a major drawback, and limits the already small games library even more.

I do honestly wonder about Sony sometimes.
