Grand Theft Auto Online 2

Grand Theft Auto 5’s recently announced online mode sounds like it was designed to be played for the rest of time. The multiplayer component will allow you to embark on competitive and collaborative adventures within the Los Santos sandbox, create your own custom missions, and even engage in a spot of golf. It’ll also be arriving right around the same time as next generation consoles.

Asked how the developer intends to traverse that transition, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies explained that the studio will look into the PlayStation 4 at a later date. “There are very few games like Grand Theft Auto Online – so we’ll play it by ear and see what the consumers want,” he told CVG. “We’ll get the current-gen versions out first and see what happens in the future.”

We reckon that the developer already has a PS4 port in mind, but it’s clearly keeping it under wraps until the PlayStation 3 instalment is deployed. The company knows that if it confirms a next generation release, a sizeable number of consumers will wait, when it naturally wants to sell two copies.
