We’d never proclaim to being graphical geniuses here at Push Square towers – after all, there are better sources for that. However, we can certainly spot the difference between most PlayStation 3 games and their next-gen counterparts, with the recently announced PlayStation 4 edition of Grand Theft Auto V being the latest example. Confirmed during Sony’s press conference, the updated version of Rockstar Games’ sandbox smash promises a much more detailed image – and these GIF comparisons certainly highlight that.
While the relatively low-quality picture format doesn’t always provide the best method for visual evaluations, the differences between the two versions here are so wild that the quick and dirty side-by-side images actually work rather effectively. Scroll down and you should hopefully see a massive increase in foliage density, much more realistic lighting effects, and even some touched-up textures. Considering how good the original looked on the Japanese giant’s ageing console, this could easily become one of the PS4’s best looking games.
Are you impressed with these comparisons? Would you like Rockstar Games to make any gameplay tweaks to this hotly anticipated re-release? Hold us up in the comments section below.

you know I still haven't got GTAV yet so I think I'll wait untill the PS4 version is out
Wow! I've been holding out for the PS4 version. Can't freakin' wait to finally play this.
Looking good. I do hope there are some additional secrets and bits and pieces added as well as the better visuals
better graphics but thats all, doubt i'll get it since already have it on ps3
Been having the itch to play this game again. Since I dont have access to an Xbox 360 anymore I think I might pick this one up.
@ErnisDy It said on the E3 trailer for Sony that it was captured using the PS4
I would like some new clothing, hairstyles & such.
Well damn..
Had it on PS3 and didn't touch it after finishing the story. Traded it in last week. Won't be buying it again. Haven't truly enjoyed a GTA game since Vice City.
Nice improvement.
Goddamit they are going to make me buy this again aren't they?!
Three words: Y.E.S.
@Paranoimia Vice City is still the pinnacle of the series for myself
Only just started playing GTAV last week. Been enjoying it a little but I may as well just stop & get the Ps4. Not only does it look better, but the framerate will no doubt be improved. After playing so many smooth games on Ps4, the jittery framerate is painfully noticeable on GTAV.
How about some single player dlc, you know! "Undead Nightmare" and "EFLC" scale
Glad I held out for the inevitable PS4 release. Looks great.
Yay can't wait for this game!!! Completed the single player on xbox 360 but it's gonna be AMAZING to do it all over again on the Beautiful PS4!! I CANT wait!!!
@calin1010
Would be awesome wouldn't it? I think Rockstar has something good in the works, I just hope the last gen versions get included, if not, might have to consider trading up if Gamestop does some kind of deal like that.
Didn't get the game at launch back then, because it was already clear for me that I'd buy a PS4 and I was hoping for a PS4 version. Well, as they say, good things come to those who wait.
God damn, this looks gorgeous, can't wait!
To be fair, it's still absolutely astonishing what Rockstar managed to squeeze out of the aging last-gen consoles. Even on PS360, the game was a technical masterpiece, me thinks.
