inFAMOUS: Second Son Studio Unclouds Unannounced Project

First-party outfit looking ahead

Sucker Punch may have successfully re-stoked the embers regarding its upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son at the Taipei Game Show last week, but with the superhero excursion now mere weeks away, the Sony subsidiary is starting to look to the future, too. A trio of job listings posted to the Seattle-based studio’s official website earlier in the week mention that it’s working on an unannounced project in addition to the abovementioned sequel, although specifics remain tightly under wraps.

All of the advertisements – for a Gameplay Programmer, Senior Programmer, and Rendering Programmer – hint at the unnamed title, but fail to really elaborate on what it could be. The roles each state that the company is committed to producing “innovative and fun” content and stress that it’s looking for candidates with “commercial programming experience”. That rules us out, then. Interestingly, an interview slip up at GamesCom last year saw creative director Nate Fox unwittingly indicate that an inFAMOUS spin-off could be in production for the PlayStation Vita.

Whether these job listings are related to that or something else entirely remains unclear, and is likely to stay that way until the developer's hotly anticipated next-gen debut deploys next month. In the meantime, though, there’s nothing wrong with a spot of speculation, so feel free to list your theories regarding this upcoming project in the comments section below.

It is not going to be for PS Vita, another game/new IP for PS4 or less likely PS3. PS3 has a better chance of receiving whatever this project is than PS Vita.

WoW ,can't wait,i guess it would be the vita project

Edit: i bet its Vita:,they are looking for

"Experience with low-level PS3 graphics coding is a plus"

@italodance I spotted that, too, but didn't really think anything of it. It definitely won't be for PS3 because Yoshida's said they're done with big first-party projects on it. I think Vita has an outside chance, but I agree with @Big-Boss that it's probably a PS4 game, if anything at all.

Like i've been saying all along - make a vita game that takes an alternate path from the PS4 game. That is, take the EVIL ending instead of the GOOD ending.

But if it is for PS4, i'll definitely be excited, too.

Certainly intriguing, I love Sucker Punch, I actually think there an under appreciated developer. Does anyone have an opinion on which studio Sony should buy next... if any? Would love Ready At Dawn & Housemarque to be added.

Whatever it is I'm looking forward to it. Like Naughty Dog and Insomniac, I believe Sucker Punch is more suited to console games so I'm hoping it's for PS4 but whatever it is I'm sure will be great.

Yes please. They could do something amazing on the vita and I think it would sell pretty well. Maybe an infamous game with a female lead, at least mix it up a little...

Low-level coding just means that you're programming very close to the hardware directly, and not on top of software layers/API's. Also known as 'to the metal' coding, which is often the case on consoles because of the unified hardware.

It could still be a PSVita game of course, especially since Nate Fox from Sucker Punch accidentally almost let slip inFamous on PSVita. (

But I think it's still probably going to be a PS4 game. They a fairly sized team with a nice engine running on PS4, so it makes little sense to scale back to the PSVita, unless they're splitting their staff or something.
