Better than your local jazz bar

Don’t worry if you haven’t pre-ordered a PlayStation 4 in the UK, as you still stand a chance of securing a system on launch day. Sony has revealed that it will have spare stock available to purchase at its release party in London this week, and if you’re willing to wait out in the freezing British weather throughout Thursday, you may yet score one of the sought after next generation consoles.

According to a press release, the systems will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis, meaning that you’re probably going to have to queue up pretty early. The platform holder will provide food and drink courtesy of Red Bull and Domino’s, while there’ll also be a performance by Tinie Tempah. Think of it as an elaborate obstacle course on the road to PlayStation glory.

"Day one PS4 pre-orders sold out in record time and this could be the last chance for anyone who wants to get their hands on a console before Christmas," beamed PlayStation UK’s gaffer Fergal Gara. “We really wanted to offer some way for people to buy on launch day, and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone that hasn't already pre-ordered to get their hands on a PS4 on day one.”

The event’s set to take place at 17th Bedford Street, Covent Garden, which is about a five minute walk from Leicester Square station. You’ll probably need a thick coat, some cash, and an optimistic attitude. Oh, and a pair of ear plugs might help you to get through Tinie Tempah’s set. Are you hoping to snag a last-minute machine?
