I tried to make a case for Dragon Age Origins, but I just couldn't. As much as I love that game the impact Pokemon Red/Blue had on gaming and me personally far exceeds what most games can lay claim to. I could pick up Red/Blue today and play it like I was back in the day.
I also bought a GBC last summer with a copy of Pokemon Blue so that helps .

Despite only owning Sony consoles (and a Nintendo DS Lite, for which I have almost no first-party games... I know, I'm a heathen) I've played a great deal of other games, albeit briefly, at various friends' places over the years. I'm amazed that I could register votes across the board here, as there are other games in the list that I've yet to try.

First one was the only difficult choice for me. Ultimately, I think that DKC, while excellent, has been utterly eclipsed by later games in the series for me.
