Its finally over and we have out top 10! The outstanding Horizon Zero Dawn wins the Forum Best Game of All Time Megapoll. Even its photo mode is better than most other full games. The characters, lore, story and combat are a cut above and its amazing in house engine is testament to the designers skill. What a game and thouroughly deserved! The rest of the top 10 are decked out and we now have our complete TOP 50 Best games of all time as voted for by over 60 contributers, over 1689 posts and a huge dedication from the community. Every single vote has been important. However the regular contributers this ones for you, without your contribution these polls would not work - it would be a waste of time. As the results stand now this is my OFFICIAL TOP 50 GAMES as voted for by people I now know and trust.

So after 3 years of running these polls in the forums we have come full circle and this will be the last and definitive poll of polls for the best game of all time.

Well the Witcher 3, Ocarina of Time for definite and maybe Uncharted 2 and the Last of Us would have made my list...

N64 - Super Mario 64 - The game that defined what 3D gaming is. Every 3D game today has this at its core.

N64 - Goldeneye - Maybe not as good as Perfect Dark was that also added bots, but it defined the FPS multiplayer on console and the campaign was superb - also had a great way of tackling 'difficulty' with more objectives to complete - not just adjusting enemy/player health...

Xbox - Halo: Combat Evolved - Another genre defining game. This game set the rules for the modern FPS shooter on console and online gaming too. The campaign was unique at the time and size of the world and missions were phenomenal.

Xbox - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - A game that still stands up today as one of the best RPG's and best 'Star Wars' games.

PS4 - Horizon: Zero Dawn - Such a beautiful game with some of the most impressive enemies - Robot Dinosaurs. So many environments crammed in and each absolutely stunning. A modern day classic.

Multiple - Resident Evil - The game that defined the Horror Survival and went on to spawn many sequels, many copycats and even a big movie franchise. It may not be the 'best' in the series but its impact is legendary. In the end, it came down to which game had the biggest impact on 'gaming' and without this, we may not have had Bioshock, Dead Space etc and therefore has to go in as one of the most influential games of all time.

Of these 6, H:ZD is perhaps the most 'personal' where as all the others had a more profound impact on gaming in general. I know that each of the choices may not have been the best in their franchise or bettered by later copycats but its their impact on gaming at that time that sets these above others in my opinion. As far as I am concerned, the 'best' games are all more recent - more depth, more detail, Characters with more realism, more facial expression, much better acted (more like film these days) but then they had the benefit of advancement in technology and years to refine the game-play that that these established and why these are regarded as game-changers rather than just 'games'.

@themcnoisy How do remasters work? Are Shadow of the Colossus PS2, PS3 and PS4 three different games? Can people still vote for The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) in that case?

I'll just pick my favorite game from a few of my favorite platforms (or second favorite, because a few of those games mentioned in the second post would have been on my list).

@octane Put the system you want. Im pretty switched on so if we are in a situation were say Doom is listed twice on ps4 and xbox I would combine them to ps4 if it means the game then gets a bye into round 2. As for sotc again if that was listed as ps2 and ps4 I would combine them to ps2 if the same thing happened. The reason for the system rule is so we dont get bombarded with newer games all on ps4 or switch. I will list the games at the end of the prolouge and if anyone is unhappy at that point will address it then (hasnt happened yet, fingers crossed)
