If you were to go down the route of including some community content, I think it would be interesting to look down routes other than just articles written by members of the community. If there are any more creative types among us Square Pushers (new name for the community - trademark that...) it would be cool to show off some of their talents in a game related way! Eg cosplay, fan art, covers of game music, that sort of thing.

This too. Really would be awesome.

I like the site how it is, the writings excellent and the soapbox articles are well thought out and well weighted. Please take the critique with a pinch of salt as 99% of the time your sites boss.

Quiet days - need more filler articles, I usually browse the site 2-3 times a day, its the only site I use everyday. There's sometimes a noticeable gap of over 24hrs between articles.

Retrospectives - We all love nostalgia and perfect for said quiet days.

PSplus community events - Friday after the Tuesday psplus games go live host a community event of some description with the psplus games. You can then write about it. The big problem with online in a community is having the same games - this stops that being an issue.

Podcasts - zero interest I wouldn't listen in, unless it was regular you wont get the traction.

Revisit older articles - you can always reprint some of the earlier ps stuff and put a present day commentary over the top.

Community challenge - a high score or run which is beatable set by the team ie) a time on trials or a drift score on dc etc etc

@themcnoisy: Only, what, two months late responding to this. I think quiet days are the biggest problem - we definitely need to do better to make sure there's always something for our regular readers to do/interact with. Ideally, I want it so people can visit the site four times a day (morning, noon, night, and before bed) and have something different to read/watch/interact with. It's definitely a goal to work towards.

I guess this is a good time to bump this thread, too. We're getting near to the end of the year now, anything else you'd like to see in 2016?

Overall Pushsquare is an awesome site, well organized, great reviews, and a great community + staff.....it's awesome to see how much it has grown from its "move" centric days.

But, this site could do better IMO with news articles.......I won't list any of the competition here, there is a reason why I go here as my main stop.......but I do see news articles on other sites and I wonder why Pushsquare has yet to say anything about it. So, greater volume....

Also, looking at the sister site NL, they do some really cool articles, they look at hardware from outside of the Nintendo spectrum (Capcom CPS Changer!!, Neo Geo, Chinese rip off clones,), etc.......it's OK to go outside of the PS spectrum every once and awhile. Also, a retrospective focus is always nice here and there......what's your top 5 games from your childhood? When did you first get a Playstation product? Etc.....

@get2sammyb:
We don't really need guides. They would take too long to write out and we already have a pretty good site for that, gamefaqs.
Personally, I would love 2 things to happen.
1) more interviews. But I want interviews of women in games, whether they're pro gamers, or are part of the design and development team, it's a nice way to change things up from the typical white male developer interview most sites give (and show that gaming has become more inclusive than ever before). And I want to read more interviews from Japanese developers. Sony is like the only one (out of the big 3) that is actively trying to introduce Japanese games to the Western market. Japanese games are something they do better than Nintendo or Microsoft and they're an important part of the Playstation Ecosystem, so why do we ignore so much of Japan's viewpoint on games and design here in the west?

and 2) I think it would be fun to run a monthly fan art contest. No winners or anything, but just a fun way for all of us to contribute to the community and show our love of games. (^_^ )/

^I like the podcast idea too, something like a round table discussion of the games you've been playing and your feelings on them, your opinions on the industry from a Playstation perspective or even what interests you, stuff your looking forward too and why.

Or if you want to keep with the written format, you could to something like your WAYP articles except it's a round table discussion of the games your playing and your opinions where someone records what was said and put it's it down in written form. I'd love to read those. Basically I guess what I'd really like is more content which involves direct interaction between the staff where you folks discuss or argue on topics such as what your playing, maybe differing opinions on games (we get a review of a game which is cool but it would be great to hear other staff's opinion on said game in a casual fashion, doesn't have to be terribly in depth but just show what you like and don't like about a game, or maybe just argue why someone's opinion is wrong in a fun way)

Podcast is something everyone talks about. To be brutally honest with you, the way we work and the team size we have doesn't make a podcast a very viable idea. Plus, there's not a lot we can get out of it really in terms of page views and revenue.

However, we do have some ideas that we hope will fill the "podcast" void, and be beneficial all around.

Community content is a good idea (I think). I would like to see community reviews of games, even if its just a brief summary of their review added to the bottom of PushSquares reviews. Partly to see how the various members perceive these games and partly to give a more general opinion. I think it would be cool at the end of the year to see what games PushSquare rated as the best and how it compares to the community score too. I guess its similar to what 'Metacritic' do with its correlation of official and public reviews but it would be good to see how this community scores and rates games in particular.
You could also do a community focus editorial on a specific member once a week or month - a set questionnaire maybe that 1 community member a week/fortnight/month is sent and featured in an editorial.
I think featuring members of PushSquare's community will elevate this site above all others. Its a great site with some great members too and I think it would be great to see them recognised.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy: I love these ideas, especially the Community reviews thing. It'd be interesting to see how the views between the reviewer and the community members differ.

I need a timeline tool so I can plan out what I'll be playing next year. I try to buy enough stuff on sale to keep me busy, but end up over zealously purchasing too much. It would be nice to have a customizable tracker for upcoming games, such that I could see graphically that e.g. starting April I'll be working through dark souls 3 for 2 months, etc. Then I could see when I will have nothing to play and look for Sales to fill it in.

It would give you valuable data and it would give us a way to be smarter about purchases

All great ideas, guys - I'm reading them all. I love the idea of the community being more integrated into everything that we do, and I hope you're going to love some of the features we'll be adding before Christmas. I'm reading some of these and nodding my head because I think we're on the same wave length in many areas, which is great to know.

Online tournament's would be good or challange's? I wouldn't really be intrested in a podcast I mean it's the game's i'm intrested in not the editor's of pushsquare?? (no offence).

Another thought. At Nintendo Life, we used to have threads like ask TheBlackDragon or Ask LZ where they would asked anything from their favorite game to the color or their toothbrush. Maybe we could do something similar here with @get2sammyb, @ShogunRok, and @Tasuki.

That'd be easy enough if it's really something that you lot would be interested in.

Would like to say the amount of articles being pumped out is awesome. Loads of good talking points and your now getting triple digit comments regularly. Well done.
