Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 498

Hoping to finish off BG3 so I can get to Phantom Liberty DLC but obviously don’t want to rush through. Next Friday will be more about Mario for me than Spidey. While Spiderman 2 looks great the original and Miles addition were recent enough games for me that I think I may wait on it since it looks like more of the same with some improvements.

Recently finished TotK so now I’m polishing off some indies like Rollerdrome and Trek to Yomi both of each have been really enjoyable. I’ll check out Alan Wake on + but beyond that not sure. Considering a Shenmue 1/2 playthrough. Anyone else play those recently, how did you find it? Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

Combat was kind of disappointing. Could give a toss about it not being turn based but even the bigger enemies just felt like punching bags. I’m not some FromSoft fanboy who needs everything to be insanely difficult but found myself just simply bored during the morbol fight. In a demo meant to make me want to purchase the game it’s concerning that combat of all things was that dull. Still not decided on purchase might just wait for reviews to see how combat progresses later on in the game.

On the fence about the game so will certainly dl and play later today. Thought TotK would get me through summer but the lack of a progression/exp points system makes it hard for me to want to do much more other than main story missions at this point and I’ve got only 1 of the 4 phenomena left.

Re: $70 Games Could Be Hurting PS5, PS4 Sales, But There's More to the Story

whitejessegpfc

Gamers are one entitled lot in so many ways. Titles can’t cost $60 forever. I’ve been gaming almost 40 years, why would I expect to pay the same price I did as a kid in 1992? $60 in 1992 would be about $125 today adjusted for inflation. For comparison the average movie ticket in 1992 was about $4. Years go by, prices go up. If you don’t want to pay $70 for a game why would I care but some of you need to live in the real world a bit on this and many other issues.

Re: 60 Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

I think 2023 will be an amazing gaming year.
With many of these sequels and remakes I think we know what we’re getting, don’t mean this in negative way. Not the one I’m most looking forward to but probably one I’m most curious about is Pragmata. Most looking forward to I selected were Spidey, Hogwarts, FF16, Cyberpunk dlc, and RE4.

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

@Olmaz Like many others I just found the final third or so of the game much less enjoyable than the wonder and spectacle of the first two thirds. By no means “bad” just not as amazing as what came before.
In terms of respecing a character some of us don’t want to do that which is another annoying thing about Elden Ring, especially for a newcomer to Souls games it basically forces you to respec. Certain build types just simply aren’t viable against some of the end game bosses. I don’t see that as a good thing.

Very fair points about Elden Ring, the final bits became a bit of a slog. Ragnarok my #1 as well. Like you I wasn’t really looking forward to it. I didn’t have PS4 so I was late to 2018 GOW and it was hard for it to match the hype when I finally got around to it. Ragnarok though far exceeded expectations a true 10/10.

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Elden Ring

My first Souls game and I absolutely loved it. I’ll knock it slightly though for fact that some of the important side quests would’ve been essentially impossible for me without YouTube guidance. I don’t want a game to hold my hand but things like Ranni’s Questline went too far the other way.

Shocked about absence of GT7 which I also loved. My first GT game as well and as someone who doesn’t even drive it totally got its hooks in me. Hard to justify placing things like Sonic and HoriZZZon in the Top 10 above it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Xmas 2022 Edition

Had all intentions of playing a lot of Witcher 3 for first time but after couple hours really just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t know if going to that combat system right from Ragnarok was the smartest move, what a step down.

Just played through Forspoken demo which was fine now back to Ragnarok for some dragon fights and other odds & ends.

Hopefully wrap up Ragnarok main story in between watching World Cup knockout round matches. Certainly enjoying the game as like others said it takes everything from 2018 and makes it a bit better but disappointed nothing in it has given me that WOW factor moment.
Probably a little eFootball as well since watching the matches will give me that itch. While far from perfect it’s nice having a free alternative to FIFA for the few times I really want to play some ps5 football.
Have a great weekend everyone.

About 80 hours into my first playthrough of Elden Ring and my Level 120 Mage is getting close to the end game areas. Will try to get to and clear a certain large elemental enemy I’ve not heard too many nice things about.

With football back odds are I’ll get the urge for a bit of FIFA as well. Dortmund v Leverkusen should be a fun goalfest later and despite an underwhelming window so far for United (there’s only one 😉) hopefully ten Hag can bring some much needed joy to my weekends. Take care everyone!

Re: Upcoming PS5, PS4 Games for August and September 2022

whitejessegpfc

Most excited for Rollerdrome. Should be finished my first play through of Elden Ring by the time it’s released so will be a nice change of pace.
FIFA will be a Black Friday pickup.
Haven’t bought Madden in over a decade so might actually go for that if reviews are half decent, the new changes to Franchise mode seem solid.

Re: EA Sports Says Two World Cups, Crossplay Will Make FIFA 23 the Best Ever

whitejessegpfc

Black Friday sale will coincide with start of the men’s World Cup so that’ll be perfect. FIFA 22 with sliders adjusted for realism has been really fun. Friendly reminder that you aren’t obligated to spend a penny on micro transactions to enjoy the game. Hopefully EA Football 24 has some of the great looking career mode improvements that Madden will have this year.
