Re: Silent Hill 2 (PS5) - The Horror Great Remains So in This Excellent Remake

Glad to see they’ve done a great job, as a fan of the original ps2 games in the series.

Also refreshing to see reviews posted before the early access goes live. While I’m not a fan of the predatory capitalistic nature of early releases for extortionate prices, at least with early reviews you know it is worthwhile playing or not.

I will probably now fork out to play it Sunday, can’t wait.

Early accesses that correspond with weekends should also be banned imo, or early access premiums in their entirety.

Re: Devs Allegedly Pondering the Point of Sony's PS5 Pro Upgrade

further to my comment above, gigabit internet is quickly become the standard, in the UK it is reaching common affordability for gamers (less than 40GBP per month), very fast downloads for large games is possible now, a digital only ps5 pro I could live with, not sure when I last used a disk drive on my ps5.

on my PC I've not used a disk drive for years unless to play an old game I have lying around.

Re: Devs Allegedly Pondering the Point of Sony's PS5 Pro Upgrade

There will be a market for this, graphics cards still move on relatively quickly, original ps5 is nearly 4 years old already!

In that time I've upgraded my pc graphics card for substantial boost in performance.

Games like Dragons Dogma 2, which may be somewhat badly optimized on release, could certainly use a performance boost. I play it on PC at the moment knowing my PC has more power than my PS5.

Would love to play it on my 4K screen on a playstation, but not at the current 30fps it can just about manage.

OLED TVs are becoming more and more affordable and 60hz and 120hz 4K are within the reach for the majority, but most top games can't output to that on the base ps5.

Depending on cost, an upgrade to the ps5 pro could be an option for many, will keep the console relevant for the next few years imho.

Re: PSVR2 Sales Off to a 'Slow Start', New Report Claims

Agree with the general sentiment on this one, it just comes down to cost, not the demand for what is surely a technically great product. At a time when cost of living challenges are so apparent, especially in the UK anyways, 529 pounds is quite a large amount to stomach. Especially if starting from scratch, i.e. you need to buy the ps5 first.

I bought the PSVR1 around release date and I also bought into the excellent Quest 2 for a good price a few years ago, but 529 for psvr2 is a bit too much at this moment in time in the UK with the given games on offer.

I’m more likely to buy at a later date if they can get the price down below 400 and inflation eases off a bit. I don’t think it’ll go mainstream unless they can get the price below 300 GBP, but I’m no expert and that may be too low for Sony to generate enough profit from the product.

Here’s hoping they can sell more, VR really is an excellent way to experience gaming if manufacturers can get the financial cost-barrier to entry down.

RIP the Killzone games

Seriously, make the ps3 games downloadable also, most of us don’t want to stream games, it’s just not as good an experience as just downloading a full game and playing it normally.

Seems they’ll just slowly rerelease the ps1 games i already have on my Vita.

Demon Souls for me, it was excellent throughout. Seemed slightly easier than past souls game, first one I’ve actually finished. Loved it so much it made me go back and complete my first dark souls run which was on switch no less. The graphics of demon souls were amazing, especially the creepy jail area.

Elden Ring is also very good at the moment, I’d give it a close 2nd to Demon Souls. The size is great, but the intricate tight levels of demon souls feel more polished and interesting to me given their smaller size.

Finally, Gran Turismo 7 is great, a return to form as a single player game. I would put this as my 3rd favourite ps5 game.

Re: Sony: PSVR2 Will Offer 'Best in Class' Visuals

soimun

@KidBoruto I think ultimately they have to move to a model which is the lightest and most comfortable to wear for the longest periods. Ultimately some pair of external light cancelling glasses or some form of comfortable goggles. The computer power has to come external and streamed to the glasses, it just makes sense to do it this way.

Ultimately controllers wouldn’t be required if a direct to brain interface is successfully created. See the mind chip Mr Musk has been working on. Your mind would just directly control the character in game.

So in effect you are correct, we would tend to a SAO sort of setup. Although hopefully not as sinister in premise.

Wired connection isn’t the future for Vr.

I had a PSVR and I have a Quest 2 which I stream games to from my gaming PC.

Wireless streamed gaming is the way to go, its just such a better experience with no wires in the way, you can turn all direction, crouch, lie down etc, all without worrying about a wire.

I will still be interested in the PSVR 2, as PSVR still has arguably the strongest VR lineup. But I can’t believe they couldn’t get a wireless method working with the PS5, with modern connection / home network speeds.

Re: Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

soimun

GT7 getting back to form hopefully, circa GT3/4 era of campaign quality.

Hogwarts Legacy giving us a good (non-Lego) Harry Potter game, take me back to HP1 on the PS1, that’s the last true brilliant non-lego HP game for me.

Elden Ring will surely be a hit, shame they’ve said it won’t be of the graphically quality of Demon Souls, that was truly phenomenal.

Hoping for an RE game in the same line as the RE2 and RE3 remakes, they are truly great games, despite 3 REmake 3 being a slight step down (content size) compared to REmake 2.

Rainbow 6 Extraction could be a sleeper hit. Siege is still perhaps the best shooter about and it lacks any significant offline / co-op play.

We can only hope for a couple of high profile Konami remakes, still we dream.

And whatever Bluepoint is working on next will truly be special again, this year or next.

2022, has to be better than 2021 for me

Re: Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Doesn't Think People Will Buy Wired VR

soimun

@RubyCarbuncle think it was $299 in the states , I can’t remember. Worth it if you have a decent gaming pc to wirelessly stream games I’d say.
The Quest 2 native games are good also, but the quantity of quality games is limited, new releases are spares.

Just use Steam VR and play wirelessly using Virtual Desktop.

Re: Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Doesn't Think People Will Buy Wired VR

@Ssimsim

Wireless VR really isn’t miles off. The techs already here and it’s great. Just maybe not at PlayStations price point.

I use an oculus quest 2 wirelessly from my gaming PC and it’s something else.

It’s leagues above the old PSVR, but then it should be, it only came out last year.

The only thing holding back oculus / pcvr and VR in general is the quality / quantity of quality games.

Playing Half-Life Alyx, Project Cars 2 or Wingman wirelessly is something else. Also playing games like Onwards without wires is special. Allows you to go prime easily etc without worrying about any wires.

I think if PSVR 2 or 3 manages to go wireless, with perhaps the option of going wired for those who don’t have good enough wireless network latency at home, will be the game changer.

PS has the best games, like RE7.
Just needs a better device now, PSVR resolution and general performance is well behind the oculus quest 2 imo, I have both and have played them extensively.

Re4 is going to Oculus Quest 2 I read.

Imagine RE2 remake or Final Fantasy 7 Remake in PSVR wirelessly? Not to mention the next gran tourismo with fully online vr races perhaps, those with extensive racing wheel setups will have possibly the most realistic experience possible. It’d feel just like wearing a race helmet.

Technology is awesome.

Cream-Crackered and utterly minced, you must be British, good to hear from a Brit stranded in yank land thanks to covid.

I got to the exact same bit of the game as you, the train yard and gave in. Interesting to see how many others gave up at that point. I absolutely loved the Wall Market sections and many of the boss fights also, but yeah, the tedious sections eventually got to me I guess.

I’ll complete it one day, probably when part 2 comes out or when the ps5 upgrade releases.

I want to like JRPGs, but there always seems to be a lot of ‘padding’, pointless tasks just to space the game out or bump up the hour count.
