Re: Tech Experts Call Death Stranding 2 'One of the Best Looking Games of This Generation'

ro-kurorai

@PuppetMaster I always prefer seeing custom engines to UE5. Decima is bonkers!

There have only been a few technically impressive UE5 titles running at a flawless 60 fps refresh this generation on consoles. The only one that genuinely impressed me was Split Fiction. Hellblade 2 may look impressive but it's locked at 30 fps and features huge black bars to deliver a "cinematic presentation".

Re: Hands On: MindsEye Is a Boring Mess

@Unsilenceable it's actually worse on PC, a RTX 4070/Ryzen 7 7800X3D combo is recommended, which is hardly mainstream hardware. Steam reviewers are calling it an unoptimized mess. It looks like the release was rushed and the game could've benefitted immensely from additional dev time.

Re: Criterion's Developing Need for Speed: Most Wanted for Vita

ro-kurorai

Hi Sanquine, welcome to the site.

Criterion are very talented and tech-savvy. They managed to keep latency around 80ms on the 30 fps game NFS Hot Pursuit, that's quite a feat (latency almost as low as a 60fps game). As long as EA do not force them to use Frostbite 2 (Blackbox used it in NFS The Run, was technologically 'modest' on consoles) and instead allow them to use their own incredible engine everything's gonna turn out fine. I'm glad to hear that for a change a Vita version of a PS3 game (port) is not being developed by a B-, or C-tier developer but by the genuine studio itself.

Criterion own (open world) arcade racing games, stoked for the Vita version of Most wanted.

Re: Atlus Explains Persona 4 Arena's Region Lock on PS3

ro-kurorai

@turtlelink Yea. all other games are region-free.
Some of the older games might run in b&w though, if played on a foreign system (PAL and NTSC related). Those are far and in-between and lame titles anyway. So essentially that's the fiirst game to be region-locked.
Gematsu published Atlus' full statement and basically they're saying (Atlus) that some Japanese gamers might've waited two weeks (as this is the first international Atlus game to include JAP voice acting) for the US release as it's 30 bucks cheaper, thus cannibalizing JP sales. Japanese sales will probably be low anyways, as most Japanese fans have probably played the Arcade version to death.
Reasonable decision if all aspects are taken under consideration.

Re: Preview: Dragon's Dogma - The Sleeper Hit of 2012?

As Capcom made the included RE6 Demo 60-days exclusive to 360 (meaning the demo hits PSN merely a month before the game releases) and all DLC for DD timed exclusives to 360 they can honestly shove it. I was genuinely interested in the game but I won't support a game that treats me like a second class citizen with its additional content. A shame as the game looks ace. Still, Capcom's preferential treatment of MS means it's the bargain bin instead of the intended d1p for me.

Re: thatgamecompany Looking to Move Beyond PlayStation

ro-kurorai

@get2sammyb I'm certain Sony wanted to include TGC into their first party, but ultimately TGC can decline the offer. Guess they prefer staying indie. I can't picture their unique games selling on XBLA though, too few guns and too little shooting.

Re: Twisted Metal Delayed in Europe, Content Cut

Germany, good old Germany. It's such a nice country, but our government still treats games as sources and inspiration for psychopathic killers. Our nice youth protection laws protect us adult gamers from those nasty violent killer-games, yet still rating them as USK 18 (ESRB AO/BBFC 18/ PEGI 18/ CERO Z equivalent) while censoring content on top of it.
The way Jaffe worded it, it seems they didn't want to produce a special Germany-only version.
Couldn't care less, I've long since stopped supporting German distributors and import all my games from the UK or the States. Those ugly USK-logos were another brilliant idea by our government, to make them easily recognizable they said ...

Re: Syndicate to Launch Without Online Pass

Enjoyed the demo thoroughly. Game might be challenging for a change - today's game are way too easy. As it's developed by Starbreeze I'm expecting a quality shooter. those guys never let me down before (ok, maybe on Dark Athena, but Escape from Butcher Bay was the better game anyways).

Nice review Sammy, thanks Mate. No your awesome reviews can also be featured on metacritic as you're using a conventional 10 point scale. Thanks guys, I like the changes a lot. Long time reader of PS, will be lingering here in 80 years still, I guess.
