I think that with any Stadia exclusive it will be timed unless they are willing to cough up big money for a permanent platform exclusive, unless it's made by their own studios of course. Personally unless they have something big they should just focus on the whole playing games anywhere anytime with a system.
At present Xbox Gamepass seems the best bet for a subscription service but with publishers bringing their own subs out I can see games being kept within publisher subs.
Can't see Stadia doing that well IMO, whose it's target audience? Assuming their target consumer doesn't want to buy a system, they would still need to obtain a compatible controller and purchase the game of their choice, not to mention a subscription if they want 4k, a compatible device to play their game on and an internet connection, still quite a few barriers to entry.
How I miss the days of just buying a console and putting the game in, no downloads or installs
@Derpie1 agree with you that most gamers just want a standard controller without the gimmicks as they bump up the price and eat into battery life. To me the lighter is of no use to me and can't be turned off, touchscreen is just the select button in most games and the microphone/speaker seems like the reason battery life isn't longer
Can imagine it's for hacking reasons and to keep control of things, since PS Now is primarily a streaming service most people who use the service knew they needed a constant internet connection to play games
Activision have seen Fortnite with how much they're making and want to replicate it, they've upset a lot of people who do play the single player (including myself) but they're only bothered about the here and now and what the trend is. Without a single player campaign it's not for me and quite a few others but I'm also someone who won't buy COD or BF until it's around 20 quid or less as I only play the campaign. In stark contrast to some of the smaller/indie games, day 1 for Guacamelle 2 and I enjoyed Rime enough on plus to go buy a physical copy, both of those games leave out the BS the AAA games industry seems to have in it like lootboxes and microtransactions, they just give you the game.
Definitely won't be picking up, may as well just get the digital downloads. They really screwed up physical releases, seasons 1 and 2 of Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Back to the Future are all complete on disc, season pass discs I refuse to buy
@andrew20 ain't that the truth, only problem we had then was waiting for a game the Japanese and American had a while beforehand and also memory card space. Definitely the last generation of consoles without the BS we face today (loot boxes, free to play, microtransactions, DLC, patches)
@LaNooch1978 bang on the money, no matter the nostalgia for people you shouldn't accepted this BS especially as they got all 3 Crash games on the disc, the 2 games as DLC codes was done to make sure people bought copies new
Definitely sparked a debate on the topic and rightly so, I don't want to think of a day when streaming is the only option, a minefield of problems such as not owning games, licences/rights on games running out, lag, monthly subscriptions for multiple publishers and game preservation.
I think everyone on here wants the option to own our games as we value them dearly and I think it would be bad for business to remove an option (personally I would just stick with legacy consoles if streaming were the only option) so I think we will always see ways to own games (physical and digital).
Unfortunately the masses don't care about preserving games, it's something that's here today gone tomorrow and preferably free to play. Most kids, teens and 20-somethings don't really own anything these days which is a shame to me but from their perspective it's easier and a small monthly cost (never look at the total spent).
One other thing to remember, we all lost our minds when MS tried to enforce DRM back in 2013 but now quite a few games nowadays require you to be online to play so we're getting there one way or another.
I think it's a good thing in all honesty, for games without a release date you could register your interest (anyone remember that) rather than pre-order. Games that are 12+ months away shouldn't be able to pre-order, I personally think 6 months tops
Can't see there being a major issue, we play as humans, creatures, robots and even boxes in games. I'm not interested in a character's sexuality, gender, race etc. in a game, I'm interested in if the character is entertaining, funny, witty, interesting etc.
When something is forced it's usually crap and I can't see developers doing that with games and if they do you don't have to buy them, like with crappy loot boxes.
I don't think there's a problem representing groups, games are art and art reflects life in a lot of ways.
Would say my gaming levels don't change, prefer to be indoors as I suffer with hayfever and also don't like the heat. Good time to go through the backlog too
Not bothered about cross play to be honest, Nintendo and MS are using this as a PR stunt and for anyone talking about anti-consumer, remember 2013 DRM always online with the Xbox One, no plug or charging wire with the New 3DS. If MS were beating Sony we wouldn't see any backwards compatibility let alone cross play.
I think we will possibly see some delays as we get closer to September, it's a shame that either Shadow of the Tomb Raider or Spiderman doesn't come out in August, instead they cram them all in at the end of the year and we can't buy/play all of them at that time so then they get lower sales numbers.
Personally I'm looking forward to Shadow of the Tomb Raider but can imagine it'll get lost in the crowd
@TheIronChimp that's a good question, you would assume so as you would still have the use of previous ps plus games. I hope so as I use it a lot when playing games on my ps3 at home and at my girlfriend's
@Nakatomi_Uk so true about the ps3 store, they did put the Christmas deals on there but apart from that it's rare they show them and with a lot of people including myself who still play ps3 it's good to see their deals as I'm more than happy to spend on ALL PlayStation deals. The ps3 and 360 are fantastic systems with a huge library of games at good prices, containing the "definitive editions" seen on current gen and still look great
This is the reason why offline gaming thrives, GT Sport should have been offline with a choice of online, not being able to save progress when offline is backwards IMO and you can see why this game plummeted to under 20 quid in under a month of release
I hope that is not true, they have no need to lock off the SP content nor the offline multiplayer if it has it, spoilers always come out on games but most people will take an active role in avoiding them.
After the microtransactions BS and Activision's marketing strategy to sell you more DLC it makes them look even worse with locking content behind a patch

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 269
Just finished off Shadow of the Tomb Raider and will go back to the division.
@Splat is the gameplay good? Not expecting much from the story but I think some of the reviewers are expecting the likes of God of War or TLOU
