I have a feeling one of the reasons for large file sizes was due to data duplication, because it takes a long time to find data on a spinning hard disk, you can put the same data in multiple places to make it quicker to find. With the speed of access provided by an SSD, that's no longer needed.
I've followed this site for a few years, as a born and bred islander this is by far my favourite article you've published! The trains on the Ryde - Shanklin line are (or used to be) old trains from the Tube!
I wonder how much of an impact the SSD will have on average times to complete games, considering that a significant chunk of time will be removed from games either by reducing load times on existing games or by removing the need for constricted gameplay sections that disguise loading of assets.
There seems to be a lot of negativity about the price increase, I for one am hoping it is simply to increase the funding they provide to developers to give us the free games and therefore increasing the caliber of them. If the business model isn't working and a ten quid increase over here means I now get infamous, knack etc on my monthly list....SIGN ME UP
The premise of this game is absolutely fantastic and i think that the main draw is the ability to just hop on and off of planets and fly between them without scripted segments or any loading. However the way they described it at e3 made it sound as thought there are no levelling systems or actual challenges in the game and so it will be fun to explore for a short while but for me it will tire quickly. I want all this but with levels and tons of loot to grow my character as i explore otherwise for me this will have little value other than to explore for a while. I really want this game to succeed and grow and be added to with such things as it is the game i have always wanted, it just needs some depth! Good luck to the studio!
If VR takes off like Facebook is expecting it to, then it will be a major bonus for Sony that Morpheus wasn't sold to them, the profits and growth that this will drive for Sony will be phenomenal and if FB bought oculus for $2 billion before it's even at a final product then think what money sony could make with a polished product going to the huge playstation install base.
I don't know how many people are aware but you can actually use the iOS app (in the second screen mode) to do some basic navigation of the ps4. Now they really need to add a full sweet of controls (especially media controls!) as i quite often sit back to watch a dvd on there and just turn it on with my phone, however from there you can't play pause etc and i have to turn on my controller. Due to the limited battery life of the controller i don't like having it turned on whilst consuming video media. I also start dvd's with my vita however from there the remote play function stops and you can't use that for control either. There are a great number of features that can be added to the companion apps such as a native store, message notifications and download status bars. The biggest trick i think Sony is missing at the moment is to have a dedicated PS social network. Im not a big you tuber and i doubt anyone on Facebook cares for anything other than the crazy or amazing videos so i would like to be able to simple share things amongst my playstation friends including vids, screenshots and trophy accomplishments!

Re: No Man's Sky Development 'Going Well' Following Delay on PS4
@BLPs I wouldn't worry...I think he is playing on the words of alot of other developers when they say 'it's going well' and then delay again!
