Re: What Year Is It? There's a New PS3 Firmware Update Out Now

TheKurgan

My PS3 Slim is in the loft (I think) after it bricked itself for whatever reason. I played a bit of GTA5 on it, a bit of Skyrim and a bit of God of War. And then one day it refused to turn on. It was like it was saying "You're not a gamer. I've had enough." Over a couple of years it was used for around 30 hours until it died.
Luckily, my PS4 and PS5 have been witness, following hours upon hours of use, that I have indeed become a gamer. I think trophy achievements has something to do with keeping consoles alive. 🤔😀

Re: Out Today: The Witcher 3's Free PS5 Upgrade Is Available Now

TheKurgan

No free PS5 version for me. PS4 Complete Edition disc in. Search The Witcher 3 Complete Edition on the store on both the Playstation app and on the PS5 console, because there's no free PS5 upgrade path on the homescreen. Nothing. I'm offered the PS4/PS5 version for £14.99. What the hell...

Got there in the end. It shouldn't be this complicated. Does my head in. I know why though, it's to fish people in to buying the product again.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy God of War Ragnarok?

TheKurgan

My PS5 pre-order arrived this morning. I had a bit of trouble installing it though, which was a worry. The patch downloaded in about 12 minutes, but the disc stopped downloading with only 9 minutes to go. It was 'queued for copying' from then on. I deleted the downloads. Turned off wi-fi. Changed install location from M.2 to console. Re-booted the PS5 and downloaded the disc again. Turned wi-fi back on and then downloaded the patch. It was nail biting stuff, I tell ya!
I've played almost three hours and am having a blast with it.

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Three-Hour Dying Light 2 Trial on PS5, PS4

TheKurgan

@JustPlainLoco I'd give Days Gone the same score as you. I've only played it once, and that was at launch. It was performing at what seemed like 20 fps on my PS4 towards the end and I still loved it. It was also my first Plat. I wondered how close I was to the Platinum when I was nearing the end and I was surprised to find that I only needed a small number of trophies for 100% completion. That says a lot about the game.
It's not just another zombie game, the hordes are unique. The soundtrack is wonderful, too.
Such a shame that there won't be a Days Gone 2. I'll replay it on my PS5 at some point.
I gave Dying Light 2 15 hours before I gave up. I enjoyed the first Dying Light.

Re: Reaction: WTF Is Going on with The Last of Us PS5?

TheKurgan

I'm a Naughty Dog and The Last of Us fan, but I'm starting to think that I should pull the plug on my pre-order.
I'm getting a bit sick and tired of companies expecting people to buy their products through name and reputation, and I think that these game leakers feel the same way.
Whatever happened to selling a product? Showing the consumer exactly what they are buying. Here's a demonstration...
Can we please see exactly what we will be buying, Naughty Dog, for the same price as a brand new game...
At the moment, following the leaks and their silence, I think they're taking the piss.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Stray?

TheKurgan

I like cats, but I can't have one because of the busy main road right outside the entrance to my cave. I'd have to replace it weekly. It'd get too expensive and it wouldn't be fair on the kitties.

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

TheKurgan

I look forward to this poll being posted again a month after release. Once we've all had the opportunity to either play it or have seen what others think of it via YouTube etc.
I have pre-ordered it because I believe that it will be bang up to date to what we already have in TLoU 2.
It's incredible the number of people commenting on these TLoU1 posts saying that it's a cash grab. The very same people that will be glued to YouTube on the 2nd September, or thereabouts, to justify their comments.
The price is $69.99/£69.99. I have pre-ordered it for £57 because I believe that it will be worth the price (to play it early). If I don't like it, but I 100% believe that I will, I'll sell it on. But I trust in Naughty Dog. You know, that studio that asks for just a tenner to upgrade Uncharted: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Such a bunch of winers. Just don't buy it. Jeez...

Re: Sony Officially Licenses PS5 SSD from Western Digital

TheKurgan

I bought the 1TB SN850 a year ago for £125. The deal included a DIY heatsink. It currently has 83GB free. The console currently has 225GB free. I also have two 1TB Samsung T7 SSD's dedicated to PS5 games. GREY 1 has 95GB free and GREY 2 has 225GB free. I also have four 1 TB Samsung T7's dedicated to PS4 games. SILVER has 124GB free. RED has 122GB free. BLACK has 125GB free. BLUE has 96 GB free. My WD 4TB HDD has 2TB free.
All chosen games logged and ready to go.
Damn this OCD...

Re: Where to Pre-Order The Last of Us Part I on PS5

TheKurgan

As of 7am, Saturday 11th June.

UK

ShopTo.Net £65.85
Base.com £63.85
The Game Collection £60.95
Game £69.99

I am also holding out for a Firefly Edition here in the UK, but I don't expect it to become available.
I'll probably pre-order from The Game Collection, but they now charge your card straight away instead of on release so I'll wait for a bit on this one.

Re: Here's How Horizon Forbidden West's Machine Strike Was Made for PS5, PS4

TheKurgan

I only played Machine Strike to achieve the associated trophy. I needed it for the Platinum.
Glad to be done with it. The game is gorgeous looking, especially since the latest, much needed patch, but it is far too cringey and woke.
On to the next...

...The Quarry.

The HFW soundtrack, on the other hand, will live on in my music library forever. Absolutely, bloody brilliant.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update Makes a Huge Improvement to Performance Mode on PS5

TheKurgan

"We're no Digital Foundry." Good job, too. Their analysis of the differing visuals between Resolution and Performance on the games release failed to acknowledge the awful shimmering, at least on an OLED display, when playing on Performance mode. People watched their misguided tech review and purchased the game on that merit, and were then unhappy with the product, myself included.
Kudos on Guerrilla listening to their fan base and working hard to fix the problem. I was surprised that they managed it, to be honest. Such a difference.
