Re: TopSpin 2K25 Is Being Slaughtered for Its Always Online Requirement, Even When Playing Solo

Texaschainsaw83

@Member_the_game I think the main issue stems from the fact that the servers can (and potentially) will get shut down. Now, for an online multiplayer game, that's fine and understandable, but for a game with a single player mode - which requires the use of being online - that is completely unacceptable. Once the servers go offline, you lose complete access to the game.

"In fairness I very much doubt that in 10 years time I'll still be wanting to play TopSpin 2K25, I'll probably be playing whatever the latest version is, so again I just don't see it as that big of a deal".

But if this becomes the norm and it's a game that you do want to revisit in the future... tough luck. It's a very slippery slope in my opinion.

Re: PlayStation Users Set to Lose Hundreds of TV Shows They Paid For

@FuzzieGinge88 Even nowadays, 90% of physical video games aren't on the disc. You're effectively buying a physical disc to verify you own the game and only a small fraction of the game is on the disc. The rest of the game is done via online downloads and updates. If the devopler of said game goes under, so does your physical game. Effectively making it a £70 paper weight.

Unfortunately, even with physical media (video games I'm looking at you) you'll eventually lose access to them. Disc rot does exist. It may not happen today, tommorrow or 10 years down the line but it will happen.

Also with the latest games, most aren't shipped on the disc. The disc is just a licence to play the game. If the devopler goes away, so does the access to the patches, updates and fixes for your physical games.

Imagine in a few years if CD project red went bust and you just bought a second hand copy of Cyberpunk 2077. You pop the disc in, install and you're basically left with the vanilla, broken, unstable mess that was CP2077 at launch.

Wether buying physical or digital, there is ALWAYS a caveat.

Re: Review: Back 4 Blood (PS5) - Raising a Co-Op Classic from the Dead

Gaming should always be about choice. Players should be able to play their games the way "They" want. Restricting the single player mode, is a bad idea. If I want to play couch co-op, single player (with bots), why shouldn't you get the same benefits in terms of player progression as you do playing online. Having everything tied to online, feels like you've got a constant time limit on everything you do in game. I really hate this model with a passion. Gaming was (and still should be about choice) but that is slowly being taken away by everything being an "online service".

Re: Why GTA 5 on PS5 Will Be More Than Just a 'Simple Port'

Texaschainsaw83

After completing GTA V several times. Playing the online for close to 300 hrs. No amount of upgrades, graphical enhancements, higher frame rates could make me play this again. Let alone paying 500 quid plus another £70 for this version, which I've already bought twice on 7th and 8th gen consoles.

Guarantee, and I do mean "GUARANTEE" no microtransactions, loot boxes and stuff that should be in the game in the first place and I could stomach it. But if you're gonna charge 70 plus quid, plus loot boxes and Micro trans.... Then forget it.

Edit: As others have mentioned, I do think that this is a strange time to mention this, considering that Gamepass is KILLING it at the moment. For £10.99 a month you get: GWG (which includes 4 games each month), a huge library of Gamepass titles (which includes Xbox one launch games) and now, to top it off; you get access to EA Play.

C'mon, guys. Sitting behind a keyboard, threatening people is 1) not cool and 2) it's ILLEGAL! With everything going on in the world at the moment, don't you think there are more important things to be concerned about. If you don't like it, fine - "don't buy it" but don't go around making stupid and I'll say it again "ILLEGAL" threats to peoples lives, that let's be honest, are completely hollow anyway. If you don't like the product, speak with your wallet, not your words.
