My favourite Playstation zombie game of all time is Dead Rising 2.
But... the timer killed a lot of the fun in that game. They created this awesome sandbox, filled with hilariously inventive ways to bash, slice, mulch and electrocute the walking dead... and then forced artificial time constraints on you so you can't just enjoy strolling the malls and casinos re-killing the undead.
Bah.
Read Dead Redemption's Zombie Nightmare was pretty special too.
I loved RE:4 a whole lot, from the cheesy voiceover (RESIDENT EEEVIL... FOUR!!!) to the evil Spanish midget you eventually get to kill. The only bit I didn't like was protecting Ashley.
But for me, the greatest character was The Merchant. The guy hangs around zombies, monsters, and evil Spanish midgets... just so he can sell you stuff. He's a hero capitalist.
He has his own slightly creepy, slightly trippy theme tune and tasteful blue lighting to boot.
Konami should give him his own spinoff game. I'd buy it at a high price.
"the one problem with reporting on video games is that they rarely have the ability to surprise."
In the mists of time, when men were real men, women were real women, and real games came on CD's, Playstation games used to surprise me so often I had to replace my monocle every week.
Remember on the PS One, when...
You turned it on for the first time and loaded up the demo disc? "What's that? A dinosaur?!? It looks exactly like Jurassic Park!!!" (It didn't, but we were easier to please in the mid-90's)
The first time you encountered a monster in Silent Hill? Your radio crackles with static, and some... thing comes shambling out of the mist, causing you to nearly shart yourself?
The Psycho Mantis battle in MGS, when he read your mind?
Firing up Wipeout and being washed away by the super sharp graphics and awesome soundtrack?
Riiiidddddgggge Racer!
Tekken: the first and only game I ever played where you got to fight people as a bear.
@WARDIE - seems most recent big releases haven't lived up to the hype.
Infamous SS was meh. Destiny is above average. Watchdogs was boring. Driveclub looks a bit shonky. The best new title I've played on PS4 this year was Wolfenstein, and I had low expectations going in.
My PS3, PS4 and Steam have more games than I have time to play.
My phone covers my all my mobile device needs.
In 2014 most adults outside Japan just don't have a need for a dedicated handheld gaming device. And kids have smartphones and tablets and probably a 3DS, with its Pokiemans and other child-friendly exclusives, too.
Which is a shame, because Vita looks like a brilliant piece of kit.
Looks nothing like Drake. It looks more like bland Aussie actor Eric Banal, AKA the most boring Hulk ever. AKA the most boring Romulan ever.
Videogame characters don't need to suffer the ravages of time, because they're friggin' pixels. I didn't like the older, balder, fatter Max Payne and I don't like this. What's next? Lara Croft with botox, fat rolls and Tena Lady? A bloated, strung-out, bleary-eyed reboot of Pac-Man, voiced by Ozzy Osbourne? Jet Set Willy in a mobility scooter?
Fix it, Naughty Dog, or I'll spray on your furniture and scratch the crap out of you.
Seriously, Home could have been great with Project Morpheus. Imagine being able to meet up with your PSN friends in a virtual space where you can hang out, play games, watch movies or whatever.
This could be a killer app for Morpheus - VR, but social.

Re: Push Scare: Share Your Most Harrowing PlayStation Tales for Hallowe'en
@get2sammyb - forgot all about Bully. Damn, I loved that game.
Re: These Are the Things You'll Be Able to Do in Grand Theft Auto V PS4 That You Can't on PS3
"the matte black Imponte Duke O'Death"
Duck, I says.
Duck O'Death.
Re: Review: Pix the Cat (PlayStation 4)
I give it 2/10...
Needs more cats.

Family game room? 3D-bloody-O???
All I had was a pinecone and a box of matches.

Re: Er, Where's the PS3 Version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?
I loved San Andreas on the PS2. Fun times zipping around in my jet pack.
The best GTA of all time is Vice City though. Because 80's.
Re: Yes, There Will Be Exciting Game Announcements at PlayStation Experience
I know it's not likely to happen at the Playstation Experience, but you know what I'd love to see?
Red Dead Redemption 2.
It's been four years guys. Time to saddle up again.
Re: Oh Sony, Did You Really Have to Use Sunset Overdrive's Font for Your Sale?
I always use Comic Sans MS because it conveys a cheerful, informal persona.

Feels like we're back in the early years of PS3.
Re: PlayStation Experience Pledges a Peek into the Future of PS4
Project Morpheus.
AND the next Uncharted game to be released on Morpheus, so I can nick stuff in glorious 3D.
Re: Game of the Month: September 2014 - Destiny
@Johnnycide - "he thought that Destiny was my daughter because I mentioned it that much"
I know people give their kids some - err - "unique" names these days, but COME ON!
Now if you'll excuse me I have to pick up little Bayonetta from school.
Re: DisasterClub? Sony Delays DriveClub: PS Plus Edition Due to Server Issues
@WARDIE - that was the best thing about Speccie / C64 / Amstrad games. Just get a blank C90 tape and you could copy all your mates' games for free.
It almost made up for being able to put the kettle on and make a cup of tea in the time it took the games to load.

Wildly inappropriate. If I see anything like that again from you, you will be banned. You've been warned. - get2sammyb
Re: Review: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PlayStation 4)
The question on everybody's lips is:
Is it better than the ZX Spectrum version of The Hobbit?

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave
I liked this game better when it was called Borderlands.
Re: Round Up: FIFA 15 PS4 Reviews On Target Yet Again
I'm not very good at football, because I'm a cat, but if EA ever makes a wool-ball game I will buy it.
Re: PS4 Responds to Xbox One UK Price Drop with Retailer Promos
Aww bugger. Nearly Christmas already? I got my PS4 the day it came out, and that seems like about 2 weeks ago.

I still love my PS3 but some things I won't miss include:
