PlayStation Experience PS4 1

This came out of nowhere, didn’t it? Sony has announced a two-day community event in Las Vegas named PlayStation Experience, which promises to offer an “exclusive first look at what’s coming next in 2015”. This could just mean that the platform holder’s going to allow attendees to get some hands-on time with the likes of Bloodborne and The Order: 1886, but there’s already wild speculation regarding potential game announcements.

One 'insider' apparently noted earlier in the year that two exclusives will be announced in December, and, lo and behold, this event is set to begin on 6th December. Personally, we’d be somewhat shocked if new titles got unveiled – but Naughty Dog, for example, has been hinting at some kind of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End update, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that occurred during this gathering. We’ll also probably get new footage from several other announced titles.

Of course, those that attend won’t just be there for hypothetical reveals. “Prepare for two intense days of PlayStation gaming, content, and activities,” the official PlayStation Blog post states. “Attendees will sit in on in-depth panels, meet the industry’s best developers, score hands-on gameplay with tons of upcoming PlayStation games, collect free swag, and get a chance to purchase rare collectibles directly from their favourite game studios.”

As far as we can tell, tickets aren’t available just yet, but more details will be announced later in the month. A one-day pass will cost $50.00, while you’ll be able to enjoy the full weekend for $90.00. And if you can’t go, there’ll be coverage on the PlayStation Blog, as well as live streams – presumably for any potential juicy bits.

To be honest, we’d recommend tempering your expectations a touch if you’re hoping for big announcements. While there’s always the slim possibility of bomb shells, it’s best to go into these things with your expectations low. That said, we suppose that Sony does have a history of making announcements in December, as the platform holder always used to have a big presence at the awards ceremony formerly known as the VGAs.
